Desert Pollution

I read about the state of the desert after the camping season finished but I didn’t think it was that bad until I saw it for myself today. I was heading south on the 40th when I noticed a huge plot of desert with trash as far as the eye could see. I went off-road and headed towards the area and was completely shocked at what I saw.

Campers had left all their trash behind including full sofa sets, toilets, trash bags and just random items like wood and god knows what else. And it wasn’t just one campsite it was the whole area filled with sofas and toilet seats all over the place. It’s absolutely disgusting.

Personally I think the municipality should just leave everything the way it is and not clean up after the campers. As long as someone is picking up the trash people are not going to learn to cleanup after themselves.

Register the coordinates to a civil id number for every camp in the country during the allowable period. For serious offenders (bloody toilets for example) get the camp ‘sponsor’ to pay for the removal. I’m sure there is an anti littering law that can be utilized.

They actually do that in Bahrain. That is so emergency services can find them faster in case of fires, bodily accidents, or things like that.

Agree. No accountability under current set up. Guilty of trashing your own nest! Come on… You have such pride in being an independent nation, yet aren’t “grown up” enough to pick up after yourselves?!? A national embarrassment!

I think they should leave the trash as is for next season and simply tell you campers “You want to camp? Clean your own mess!!!” that will teach them a lesson!

Man Mark you beat me to it. I could not believe the amount of trash left out in the desert.
The entire attitude of everyone in the country has to change.

As much as I’d like to say leave it, it doesn’t work. In the desert in bnaider the trash has been piling up for years and no one is cleaning it. It’s becoming disgusting to walk through. The amount of trash thrown into the ocean is ridiculous as well, as it ends up on the beach and we clean up in front of our chalets even though we didn’t litter. There is a private company that Kuwait pays to clean areas like the desert public areas and near chalets, as we have asked, but they obviosly haven’t done it even though they were paid to. Now I believe there are a lot of volunteer beach and desert cleanups happening by people in Kuwait, but someone does need to enforce some kind of law. Or at the vey least, put up no littering signs.

Whatever happened to parental responsibility? Did it leave with the 1991 Invasion or something? Because kids are getting more screwed up as the years go by.

One of the reasons, to dislike kuwait. Where is the proudness and respect for your own country!!! Kuwaities is showcasing an attitude beyond any common sense.

And they actually had the nerve to blame the U.S. soldiers for the trash flying from the trash dumps because of the amount of trash that is collected at the military camps. My co-workers point out of all the pride they show during the independence holidays here, but where is the pride of keeping their country safe, clean and respectful?
