Dog Fighting in Kuwait

I knew there were dog fights in Kuwait but I didn’t think they were being held in public, during the day and at a popular place like the Friday Market. Where were the cops?? This is sick! [Link]

Dog fights (also known as Emjawal) were very popular in the 80s and 90s, some bet on Kanafa tray, Cash and few on Cars lol.. but now they’re no longer popular, I guess because the 80s and 90s youth grew up and became fathers, and today’s youth are interested in electronics, fashion,… etc silly stuff.

Thats just the surface of it Mark, one of my family members is a regular to this “ghetto”; and he tells us things which churns our guts to sickening levels! Cruelty to animals is paramount at the Friday Market! And no one cares two hoots about it!

This is terrible but I can’t say I am surprised. The other day I read a report in the papers about rooster fights in some slum in Jleeb Al Shuyook – people will do anything to make money, to pass time, to gamble – there are mafia rings running these outfits and palms get greased.

Authorities need to enforce the law (I certainly hope there are animal cruelty laws in the book here).

All kinds of animal fights are strictly forbidden in Islam. From Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_and_animals

“It is forbidden to cage animals, to beat them unnecessarily, to brand them on the face, or to allow them to fight each other for human entertainment. “They must not be mutilated while they are alive.”

The individuals and gangs behind this horrendous practice should be charged and prosecuted and the police are obliged to follow up these cases.

Haram, there should be laws against this stuff, but sadly I know that even if there was, nothing would be done.

Kuwait has it bad when it comes to the law and people following it.

if you want to talk about islam, then do you know you cant PAY for a dog, the prophet said that a dog should not be bought and should be caught and trained, and left outside to guard only and never in your house.

yes dog fights have been here since my grandfather was 6yr old and it will never stop because no 1 gives a crap we have more problems that need care.

if you want to rescue them then gather up and protest so i can see half you tree hugers deported.

“if you want to talk about islam, then do you know you cant PAY for a dog, the prophet said that a dog should not be bought and should be caught and trained, and left outside to guard only and never in your house. ”

What the hell does your statement have to do with animal cruelty?
Or is this how you logically mount arguments – a wrong is wrong, whether animals or humans. Just because something has been in practice for decades doesn’t negate the fact that its wrong.

Mark did the right thing by bringing this up – maybe animal rights groups and people will mobilize – whats wrong with that?

“if you want to rescue them then gather up and protest so i can see half you tree hugers deported.”

Sit in your shell, enjoy your Starbucks latte, enjoy your Issa Maki, use your IPOD and live the fantasy.

Used to see this all the time at Marina Crescent, believe it or not.
Still makes me tear up to think about it.
Dogs are such great, loving animals. Makes me want to puke just imagining the kind of people that could do such things.

and while messed up shit like this is going on in the country the baladiya is busy closing down innocent events like the carboot sale earlier today at AUK. Makes no sense at all.

It seems they care more about male/female segregation and parties than they do making money off animals killing each other. This place is run by hypocrites who pretend to be Muslims.

Can anyone tell where exactly in the Friday Market can I by a dog? I hear they have some good dogs back there sometimes. Thanks.

PAWS has been working for a long time to try to get authorities to stop dog fighting in Kuwait. I’m not sure about AFL – just because I don’t know. If you see these things happening, document it – take photos, etc. Then, let PAWS and and AFL know and forward the photos. The Arab Times has even investigated cases of cruelty and reported on it. Take it public!

Those who are cruel to animals are just evil and God will never accept their prayers. Cruelty to animals leads to cruelty to humans: People engaging in acts of cruelty become desensitized to it and are more likely to act out in other ways; sometimes on their wives and children.

Just wanna respond to some of you so called animal lovers why do you eat Beef and why do you eat Chicken ??? what is wrong with hunting animals ??? ooh 7araaaaam innocent animals are dying because you are eating them don`t eat them please love them only :1 i know dog fighting is not a good thing but don`t take it as if its the end of the world, why do you eat those innocent animals if you care a lot about them.
