Dogs that are banned in Kuwait

It seems to cut down on dog fights the ministry has banned certain dogs from being imported to Kuwait. I personally don’t think that’s the proper way to cut down on dog fights since people who want to fight dogs will fight dogs no matter what breed they are.

Unfortunately, they haven’t “stopped” the trade, merely made it illegal.
Kinda like using your phone when driving, smoking in public, not wearing a seatbelt…. yawn!

Try getting bitten by a King Cobra and then you’ll maybe pray to God wishing that you had been bitten by a wolfdog instead. Cheers!

good move , guys r wallking arounds showing there monster dogs , do u know how many dog bit incidents happen on daily basis from dogs on the list above ?! i know this will not stop it but it will for sure reduce it on the near future .

Blame the owners not the dogs. All the dogs above are not aggressive dogs by nature and ALL dogs and cats and other animals can become aggressive depending on what they’ve been taught or what they have gone through.

I agree to some extent, Mark. The responsibility lies with the owners, but you cannot deny the effects of breeding over generations for certain traits, like aggression. It takes an experienced pet owner to know how to treat some of the more aggressive breeds, like pit bulls and Canary Island dogs.

It’s all about the owners man, I had a canary island dog for a decade before she passed away, gentlest soul on the planet, well behaved, well trained, well socialized. My cousin on the other hand had a rottweiler that was a menace, it’s all about how you raise and train your pet. A ban doesn’t solve anything.. Those traits were encouraged over generations for protection and herding, and you can train your pet to protect and not be aggressive, until the situation demands it.

please show statistics, and dogs only bite because of lack of training because of stupid owners many of which i see all over petzone and other shops and pet cafe’s. people get a dog a don’t even teach them basic discipline and when they bite someone every one blames the dog that wasn’t taught any better.

I think they should START by closing the animal market at the Friday market.

This ban is a good move (but I doubt a Great Dane is a fighting dog – they’re so docile). Also agree with you that you can teach any animal (or human) to be aggressive if that’s what you set out to do.

They ought to infiltrate some of the fighting gangs and stop them is what they should really do.

It is also a problem for westerners who have already got pets like Great Danes & others from the list here as they also ban you taking them out too!

Actually the text in Arabic just says that they “suggest” releasing a regulation that bans the following breeds from being imported into the country. Until such regulation is released there is no ban yet

so basically instead of properly prosecuting the yahoos who do this disgusting thing they go an punish the dogs, typical kuwait.

WHAT!?! Rottweilers are banned?! That list is dead wrong! In fact all the above dogs on that list are not aggressive by nature! The owner of the dog is to blame! Who the hell comes up with this idea to ban these dogs!!?

If a lhasa apso bites you it tickles, if a pitbull bites you you can go to the hospital. Especially the idiots who give their pitbulls steroids.

Well, i usually disagree with banning anything in hope to solve a problem, however i k ow dor a fact that banning certain dog breeds is not somethi g specific for Kuwait. I know it is neing implemented in several places in europe and the UK is one of them.

If i understand the situation correctly the ban does not come from the groinds of how people will ‘use’ the dogs but rather its from how these specific dogs normally behave, how frequent their attacks are to the public due to their nature and uncontrollable behaviour.

If i recall correctly there is even a BBC documentry about these dogs and their ban.

Seriously? Great Danes are banned? They are the most loving dogs! People around the world need to realize that it’s not the dog that is aggressive. It’s the owners job to stop aggression. If people fight dogs, they should be held accountable and not the breed! Seen so many great dogs that are well behaved and most of them are breeds from this list. Owners need to be responsible for training their dogs and making sure they are not aggressive.

Why ban me?? Its not my fault that my owner teaches me to be aggresive. Teaches me to attack when told to, and to bite too. I am mans best friend and will always do what my master tells me!

They should also ban huskys and other heavy coat dogs. There’s so many jackasses walking around and owning dogs with heavy coats and all the dogs do is pant their asses of. Imagine walking around and feeling like you’re in an oven… that’s what the dogs are feeling when you walk them around Kuwait on a hot day! Oh but they want them cause they’re so “cute” and “adorable.”

Stop animal cruelty.

yeah banning huskys makes sense due to stoping animal cruelty but tell them that make them understand caz i think if ppl wane show of dosent matter how they do it they jus wane do it n attract ppl with something not OK . its sick takin a husky for a walk ina 50* tempreture its torturing

Problem solved!!! now the master mind who came up with this idea and those who approved it can now go drink tea text while driving on their way to have a smoke in the grocery store. Because this only causes more complications for people who are responsible pet owners.

Whats next ban cars to address the crazy drivers, those who text while driving, hey we can ban electricity that will solve the internet problems as well.

god forbid holding people responsible for their actions.

did you know that if your dog bites another person, even though that person was trespassing your house, you could be liable for a fine? Beats the purpose of a guard dog if you ask me.

dogs r like humans mayb better then humans ! it all depends on how raised u never been hit or attacked by humans for no reson ?the owners i swear iv seen ppl inject their pitbulls with nandrolone .. y? abi chelbi ye9eer em3athel ! it has nothing 2 do with the breeds a pitbull or a rotwiler can b friendlier then a chihuahua but lel2esef most ppl think dogs r jus animals caz they cant talk our languge they have no feelings or its like a video game to them make him bigger teach him to bite harder its a rotwieler must b aggresive and puting prices on them …

So guys..whats with the people who already has a dog from the list!!is there any consequences on walking them or something..i have a beautiful rott which i saved from death at firday market!hes grown up and people oriented now after he saw a nice touch..would be nice to see his puppies also to grow like this people loving..;-)

Hii, they are banned from entering Kuwait however if you have one its not illegal.
You can find some of them in pet stores its ok to sell them if they came from kuwait breeder or something

Shar Pei are the most likely to attack on that list of dogs….. true fact! Dogs only represent how their owners trained/treated them.

well bulldogs banned !! thats not fair… theyre so adorable i dont see them fighting !! all the breeds of pit bulls ? fighter line should be banned but the showline shouldnt its not used for fighting

Great Dane and bull dog are gentle. Basically they have banned all large dogs. They will now start fighting yorkies against pugs!!

Sadly this law still does exist and it hasn’t stopped people from having dog fights for their own personal pleasure. All the people who have commented above regarding the good decision of banning these particular breeds have no idea on the topic of the breeds or dogs in general. Great statement there Mark, “Blame the owners, not the dog”. I’ve been raised with all sorts of dogs my whole life here in Kuwait from breeds varying from toy breeds like Maltese and Yorkshire Terriers, to medium sized breeds like American Pitbull Terriers and American Bullies, to large breeds like Rotts and GSD’s and never even once my whole life have I been bitten by them or have them bit other people. Yes, that includes babies too. Right now I can train a Chihuahua to attack and rip a peson’s ankle off on command. What’s the law going to do then? Ban Chihuahuas? Funny how senseless human beings are. All I can say is that get your facts right and do your research before posting your next nasty comment.

Hi I am currently in Egypt. My husband and I are about to move to Kuwait, however I just realized that Pit bulls are banned in Kuwait. We have a cocker spaniel 11 years old and a Staffordshire 1,5 year old a female (sterilized). She is really the friendliest dog ever. I have videos of her with small kids and newborn babies, other dogs and so on. Is there any chance at all we can bring her with us? I know that in States we can fly to a state that allows pit bulls and then go by ground to a state that doesn’t and if the dog receives no complaints it is fine. Please help.

None of them are banned, I’m a breeder and most of the dogs on the list I’ve got. No such thing as any of them banned.
