DSL Price Updates

DSL prices in Kuwait have gone down recently. Both Qualitynet and Fasttelco have double the bandwidth. It started off as an offer but it seems they have decided to keep this permanently. This is how much 512KB will cost you in Kuwait

Fasttelco
512kb down / 128kb up
1yr Subscription Price: KD360 ($1232)

Qualitynet
512kb down / 256kb up
1yr Subscription Price: KD380 ($1300)

Both providers are reliable, I use both of them, one at home and one at work. Sometimes a site could be blocked by Qualitynet and not by Fasttelco, and sometimes its the other way around, they mostly come out even. So if you are new in Kuwait and looking for a decent connection, get a 512kb DSL connection, the 256kb is too slow, and the 1MB too expensive, 512kb comes in nicely at around KD30 a month.

It seems the government puts a tariff on the price or something so they can get money to digitize the phone lines…

I’m fine with 1MB/512up from Qualitynet. 😛

i found that quality net is much much better. i also have access to both and chose to stick with qnet.

qnet has had way less connection problems and blocks out way less in my experience, also FUCK the FT block screen. it’s so rude. Qnet’s just says “blocked by qnet” no pretentious religion bullshit like fast telco’s little islam faggotry.
last, blue is much better than orange. fuck you fast telco.

What a rip off, especially for a country so rich with a high internet penetration. People should start defending their consumer rights to a fair pricing with such companies that claim to be “islamic” and not greedy.

Hmm.. whats wrong with the goverment!! they can pay off a gazillion KD kuwait debts, but they cant pay to digitize phone lines?!

i use dial up, which costs about the same the price as dsl in some countries, not just that but i almost wanna kill my connection…….and quaitynet and fast telco shud really learn to study the concept of supply and demand…and try handle consumer’s needs

25KD (or so) a month is just too expensive for 512kb DSL, so I use dial-up which is achingly slow but costs only 1KD for around 15 hours use. However, my overseas telephone bills are high. Can you use Skype (or similar) with 256kb, or is it really worth spending almost double for the 512kb DSL connection?

I can’t believe how expensive DSL is in Kuwait! In lebanon (before the late war) they were having plans on introducing high speed residential ISDN for a cheap price compared to Kuwait’s DSL. I might as well by a 5 KD dialup card which lasts for a month with no limited hours, and at the sametime get a new phone line for 30 KD per year and keep it connected 24 hours. That’s how I see it from my perspective. I’m very disappointed.

I was in the uk i had 8mb for the price of 20kd a month and here in kuwait they dont have that speed super expensive can anyone tell me where i can get the fastest and cheapest connection in kuwait

haha, cant believe how expansive it is for all u lot,i feel sry for my bother who lives in kuwait, i have 24meg and only pay 12kd a month, unlimited, in 2008i will have 50meg inshala,i think u lot shud protest

Moving up to 512kbps, but yeah, it’s far too expensive to have good internet in Kuwait.

I mean, just comparing the prices between other countries and Kuwait makes me want to cry…

guys whatever u think of getting, dont get the quality net, or the mtc, dont get anything wireless…this is my mistake, and now im trying to find a way to sell my siera wireless card to subscribe to united networks or something

I also agree with expat he/she right that in Kuwait the tariffs of internet connections are very expensive they have to be some less i have an internet connetion of 512kbps for qnet i buy one year subspriction at the price of 230 kd it must be at the price of 150 or 160 kd and it is not good that they block to download latest movies of bollywod and hollywood we pay too much money and they has blocked they should have to allow to download the bollywood and hollywood movies.Pls reply me on my id [email protected].
