There was a dumpster fire near my building just awhile ago. It’s a common occurrence but what grabbed my attention this time is that their were a bunch of kids trying to put out the fire with water bottles and sand. Obviously that wasn’t helping but it was still nice to seem them try.
When the firefighters came I wanted to take pictures of them putting the fire out but the fireman in charge wouldn’t let me. That’s happened to me before but this was the first time I was told nicely not to shoot AND I was given an explanation to why. Turns out the firefighter putting out the fire wasn’t in full gear and I guess that’s against their regulations and he didn’t want his firefighter to get in trouble. I’m cool with that.

wow, thats very near to my place, but too lazy to go down and see ๐
If he doesn’t want his firefighter to get in trouble, why doesn’t he make him wear the gear that is supposed to, you know, protect him?
He may not have the gear with him at that point of time, due to some reason.
?What reason would that be? Shouldn’t they have it on BEFORE they leave the station?
Err, you don’t need heavy protective gear to battle a dumpster blaze. All they’re doing is just dousing it in flame retardant.
It doesn’t matter. They’re required to take the precautions, so he should have done so. He most likely doesn’t need the gear, but he may, if only to avoid getting in trouble ๐
They need occupational health and safety standards in Kuwait :/
Looks like we have a fire starter villain in Kuwait. I Wonder when our very own superhero arrives now, lol.
Just look at the state of the surroundings in the picture, what ever happened to garbage collection in ultra rich Kuwait in 2012!!
The picture above doesn’t do justice to the amount of garbage in that lot. At one point they had a hole dug in the ground and they were just throwing trash inside
https://248am.com/mark/kuwait/hole-full-of-garbage/
only after i posted about it did they cover the hole
https://248am.com/mark/kuwait/they-filled-the-hole/
But they never added more bins and they’re always overflowing. Horrible stench
It looks like the Gaza strip. Is this really Kuwait?
Kuwait’s very own Gaza Strip – Salmiya – that’s why we moved!
Lots of buildings, exponentially incrementing population. The amount of garbage can only be directly proportional =(

About mentioning the firefighters not being in uniforms, I can’t tell if you’re being bitter about not being allowed to take pictures, or it’s a major ‘doh moment on your part.
If you don’t want them to get into trouble…. don’t mention it on the internet!
yeah… lol
Not sure where you got the idea I’m bitter when I specifically said I got an explanation nicely and that I was cool with that.
Also who would get in trouble? Do you see any firefighters pictured in the post or did I mention any name? Do you know who put out the fire and what exactly he was or wasn’t wearing? Thought so.
anybody in charge of the fire fighting department can easily know which unit went to fire in salamiya at that day.
if someone in charge saw your post he will question them
So what? Do you know which firefighter put out the fire? Do you know what he was wearing? Do you know if what the guy told me is true? Chill out.
“Do you know if what the guy told me is true?”
Are you asking us to question the legitimacy of what you say on your blog?
You need to relax man. All I was mentioning is that it sounded out a little sarcastic on your part, the fact that you weren’t allowed near to snap pictures coupled with you stating why (negating the reason for why you weren’t allowed near)… to me sounded a little bitter. If it wasn’t well… you have to accept that you might have sort of kind of in a way snitched.
My response was clearly answering your remarks. Not sure why you got all upset over my post you really should just chill out. I wasn’t being sarcastic, what I wrote is what I thought. If it sounded bitter to you so what? Why is it a major issue for you?
Regarding the fact I “snitched” I still don’t understand how so maybe you could enlighten me.
Do you know which firefighter put out the fire? No. So I didn’t snitch on a person.
Do I have any recorded proof of what the person in charge at the scene told me? No. Which means in case the officials contact the fire department that answered the call he could deny it happened.
So how do you think I snitched? Snitched would mean someone would get in trouble because of this post and as you can see no one can.
But then again, let’s look at it the other way just for the fuck of it.
Say I did snitch, would that have been wrong? In the end if a firefighter wasn’t in his full gear which I’m guessing he should be in for safety reasons shouldn’t he be disciplined? Shouldn’t his officer be disciplined as well for not making his men dress in the proper gear? Sure it was just a dumpster fire but what if there was a gas canister inside that exploded? What if the car right next to the bin caught fire? What if they’ve become too lax with the rules and this is actually a habit, wouldn’t that compromise their safety and couldn’t that put people in danger during a rescue?
But again, snitched or didn’t snitch why are you so upset with my post? Are you a firefighter?
Goddammit man. Im not upset! Haha Ok this is maybe all lost in textspeak. Im not a firefighter, nor do I advocate their work. On the contrary most firefighters Ive run into on duty and off duty happened to be jerks. I was just pointing out something that struck me as odd, is all.
lol i thought you might have been a firefighter or know the firefighter or something
Was actually at the site picking up some shawrama myself. For me, the guy at the turn makes the best shawrama.
It was endearing to see the kids embrace such chivalry.
This is pretty clean compared to the hellhole that Mahboula has become in the last couple of years.
Something tells me that the kids are responsible for the fire. they were trying to extinguish it as a cover up. kids love such stuff.
