What up with Kuwait and invitations? Yes,if you know someone that got an invite they will in turn have to sponsor you.It’s for security reasons I guess.You have to take your own booze though (just saying).
Why is this invitation only? How do we get in touch with anyone if we dont know anybody from the embassy? me and my friends have heard a lot about the embassy shows and we are hoping to attend this time. Is there any other way we can enter? do we need any vasta?
Don’t worry Mark. You will get a special ticket shortly (as usual) ๐
Waiting for your feedbacks about the concert from the heart of the event ๐
hey waddap!! Kuwaitstock is back.. remember when it all began and my band had the privilege of playing for their show. But over the last 2 years the entire essence of having a rock show in Kuwait has changed with the embassy guys gettin rock bands from the UK and according to them metal music is not suitable for the crowd.
If its a rock show I guess any genre of rock is acceptable.
Well but must say these guys do know how to put a good show, looking forward this year too… peace out!
if its in the British embassy no need to carry your own booze, they have a bar there and its 1KD a drink… aint it cool. drinks, chicks, music…. now who would ever want to miss out on this one.
I’m not sure we should be publicizing this!
A bunch of bands playing in an invitation-only event on an embassy ground is nowhere near ‘the biggest event of the year’ IMO.
@ Dalia.It does not have to be someone from the embassy.Anyone that already has an invite can ‘sponsor’ you.
the reason why it is an invite event only is to minimize smurf problems.
ugh! ROCK, EMOS, GOTHICS.. spread the ugly shit people..
The tickets are available for Embassy staff & the event sponsors to give out, they each get 10 to give to family & friends. Even if you have an invite, you cant sponsor someone else, unless you are from the Embassy or one of the companies sponsoring it!
Its 20 K.D a ticket and you need a sponsor .. besides despite that they have a decent bar at the embassy when ever they organize an event they just do the 1 K.D per drink which sucks big time .. cause they prepare the shittiest drinks just to make the maximum profits .. good business haa !
Kuwait: Its not “the biggest event of the year”, its ONE of the biggest events, big difference.
Sounds pretty sweet to me.
This is a total bias approach to having an event such as this in q8. Firstly they don’t want the world to know about it and secondly they put up a website about it. and then they say its an INVITE ONLY event??? huh?? excuse me, if its so keep it to urself and ur crew at the embassy don’t leak it out.
I’ve been to the American Embassy parties and once for a similar show such as this. But no big hue n cry about it coz nobody knew and only those who knew bought in their friends.
I guess the British Embassy guys are just screaming out for attention or trying to create a mini Britain in q8. check the bands that are playing except 1 band from q8 all are from UK.
I guess u guys need a separate camp for ur events n stuff …. mayb u cud park beside camp Arifjan…. lol
Makes complete sense that it’s invite-only.
How do you expect that anyone could just buy a ticket and get drunk in Kuwait…?
So what are the sponsoring companies Mark??
It is INVITE only. Always has been, always will be.
It mainly consists of those working in the embassy and/or diplomats for the British Embassy.
The majority of those working in the Embassy are unbelievably NOT British but Indian.
There are a few Brits, events co-ordinator, ambassador etc… obviously their families get invites.
It is a BIG event and one that many seem to enjoy. Last year there were a large number of people, somewhere in the region of 2000-3000 if not more. It was huge. All nationalities.
Security monitor the door so there is no chance of getting in. It is open-air and yes, there is as much alcohol as you want. Problem is, everyone can drink but get caught outside and you won’t be excused from a sentence. Only those with diplomatic immunity can escape hefty fines/sentences.
Last year, one person was caught after and spent two weeks in jail. Might have had something to do with them ‘dancing’ down the gulf road.
Sounds sweet if you are into that kind of thing.
I’d prefer some opera or ballet.
LOL
It’s just an excuse for people to get excessively drunk and make fools of themselves.

THE FEELING!! how the hell did they get them to come and perform! & why are all the comments about alcohol!
because Ramadan just finished ๐
I have never heard of any of these bands. Except Jelly Shot which I believe is a local band I’ve seen play before.
All in all, I don’t see what the fuss is about. I’d rather go to a real concert.
Lollapalooza 2011, can’t wait!
So basically it says you’re NFI* but hope to see you soon
*:(Not F**king Invited)
i’m actually going to this.
pretty sweet setlist.
๐
Abdulla and I are actually going to this =D
Contact us if you are going and need some hot, arm candy. But you have to keep your hands to yourself or you will get a slap! Loool ;P
Abdulla, Sheep and I are going to this! =D… mind you, i’ll be performing!
“This is a total bias approach to having an event such as this in q8. Firstly they donโt want the world to know about it and secondly they put up a website about it. and then they say its an INVITE ONLY event???”
It’s called gloating.
Warning: There will be police checkpoints around British embassy for hunting drunks and Teenage Satan Worshiper
woohoo, got an invite to this xD
This is so bad, holy month Ramadan is just over, Eid is just over and here we have our people speaking about alchohol and party, I dont believe this is in Kuwait. All you Brits and Americans spoiling our country
@Anon if its not such a big deal then why the heck did u guys chicken out when a similar post was made sometime back with regards to the Embassy of Sound video that was put up? I believe your website was blocked and no acess to any information?
Though I don’t mind such event to take place in Kuwait as long it is by the embassy for the embassy staff and by invitation only. What I do mind is having it publicizing it like this… especially highlighting the alcohol. This is an issue especially when those who drink end up driving on our roads and causing us accidents.
@ mobi
chathaab!
I honestly think people are making too much of a big deal out of this alcohol business… this show is not about the alcohol, it’s about the music, it’s about having a good time and having a show (both of which are next to impossible in this country)
And sure, there will be booze, but what does that honestly matter? you’re questioning the morality of people drinking in kuwait, like it or not, it happens regardless of it being in an embassy or not, and regardless of whether a show is involved or not
@yousif
ya3ni kilish chena maa kaan fee mashroob fil kuwait minzimaan. And I am not talking about the 50’s and 60’s….I’m talking way before that!
roo7 kalim elshiyaab 3an elMurgab gabl.
@Jelly Lead, I don’t know where you come from, but in the UK ‘having a good time’ means having alcohol ;p
Oh boy, I wish the Canadian embassy had something like this!! Unfortunately our embassy here is Tiny!!
Since moving to Kuwait I have been missing a good rock concert and getting a chance to see these bands in action and hearing some new sounds would be awesome. I would even bring my Fender Strat with me, ok maybe not!
I wish I had some connections in this country!! ๐
I want to go ๐
@3azeez
What’s drinking going to do to our already deadly roads? Inch us up from 3rd place for deaths by accident in the world to 2nd? And really you don’t think people already drink and drive here? lol
@expatandthecity
Why just at this event? Why not other places? ๐
As for the main post, whats the point of posting about it and having a website when it’s invite only? Okay you told everyone about it and now a lot of people are hyped but they can’t go… oxymoron?
I have 4 tickets we are 3
May be 2 that’s mean 2 ticket left
Who is want come with me ๐
Well fact is we cannot go, I tried to get in touch with the embassy people but they seem real snobish.
Not fair only the embassy guys get to enjoy and the rest who have no vasta or no friends in the embassy have to jus sit and watch the good time go by.
IMO get rid of ur event website no one wants to know if we cant go
Yousef ~ Loool, I was just kidding! I’m an expat and not an escort. ;P
@Jossipi, Ill buy your tickets off you!!! Im keen to see a rock concert!
@yousef
do you believe in the freedom of choice?
Mark…i got a ticket…its 20 KD…but yeah its invitation only…anyway as for the bands, u probably listen third the bands that will be participating…because this year (unlike other years) they will be throwing two shows in one day, the first show starts from 1-5…that one will be a family kinda show..kids will be allowed…no alcohol etc…THEN, from 6 onwards there will be another show…with a different set of bands..
anyway it should be fun..if u got tickets hope u enjoy the show..i was there last year and it was great =D
listen = listed
@Abdulla

“Pretty sweet setlist”
Actually a set list is the songs a band is going to play…this is the lineup
Couldnt help myself ๐
@KaLeeDo
no i know what jelly shots setlist is.
so i repeat. Pretty sweet setlist.
@Abdullah
We do what we can to please =P
A concert featuring some unknown bands that I can’t even pay too much to get into? uhhh… no, thanks.
Only in a place where there’s NOTHING to do…
Sometimes I imagine if Kuwaitis had proper art /entertainment they might actually care about this country.
I’ll just save the money and hop over to one of our neighboring countries to see some proper shows!
agree with rocker, its bcoz of the restrictions in this country place like the british embssy take undue advantage making their events exclusive to their staff and guests and yet make a big cry to the whole of kuwait…. mayb wanting sponsors or watever. and anyone trying to spread this information gets blacklisted according to them.
real sad that people actually support this.
