A lot of people have mixed feeling’s about this car, but without a doubt looks good. I’m not sure about 17-16k price tag, sounds too good to be true.
yeah, it’s the “Starting from” price so probably only comes speced with the basics.
In USA the basic 4-doors is sold for 12,000 KD and 12,500 KD for the coupe. If anything the prices here are skyrocket high!

plus in the states EVERYTHING is an option. In kuwait most of the time we get a lot of things standards as part of the entry level package. For example with the Toyota FJ, in Kuwait we have 2 options, fully loaded and not so fully loaded. The not so fully loaded is still a lot more loaded than an entry level FJ in the states.
Btw the Evoque looks like whats left of a Discovery when an Elephant falls on it from a height. But then it does look quite sleek too..

Luckily that’s not true. The Evoques direct competitor is the BMW X3 and the Evoque just by the looks of it has already beaten BMW.
In looks yes it beats x3 but in performance wise The x3 smokes it with it’s inline 6 engine output of 300 hp and 300 pound/feet of toruqe and reaching 100kph in 5.6 seconds, the evopue got inline 4 engine and output of only 240 hp and 240p/f of toruqe and reaching 100 kph in 7.6 seconds and in a higher price than the x3, to me as a man the performance come before the looks any day girls however…..
if you’re looking for speed you shouldn’t be looking at suv’s in the first place
speed is important in an suv so you could move the overweight suv as easy and fast as you could and for god sake this is an sport suv or what they call a crossover so it should be sporty as Its appearance Suggest…
and if speed is not important in an suv but in a luxury suv it’s very important, just look at the roads that are full of fast suvs like Porsche cayenne s ,gts and turbo ,Range rover supercharge and many others…
and i’m not mad for buying a 4 cylinder suv for more than 17000kd which is not even full option it’s just not worth it, i was going to buy it untill i knew that, that engine + price kills this beauty…
I didn’t say speed isn’t important. I said if you’re looking for speed you shouldn’t be looking at suvs (or cross overs)
if ur looking for a suv u shouldnt be looking at a 4 cyl engine suv.
The design is amazing in my opinion. the only thing is the size of it. it simply says “am cheaper than the RR sport and Classic”. btw the interior is very similar to the Jaguars. it even has the exact gear knob that raises when u start the car.
So how many ppl are going to go in debt trying to buy it and show off with it on Gulf road?
u can get a disco for the same price and it is 8 cyl with full spec a better deal if u ask me .
Is that how you guys buy cars? based on the engine size? what happened to everything else like exterior design, interior, features, handling etc..?

think it as if the fj you got has 4 cly engine like the fortuner with 158 hp and the same price which is well above 11000kd would you buy it?!
my fj is heavy, has a very inefficient 6 cylinder engine, has a 4 speed automatic, weighs 1,948kg and is meant to be driven off road.
the evoque is a crossover, it got a small efficient engine, has a 6 speed gearbox, weighs under 1,500kg and is meant to be driven on the streets
That’s why 4 cylinders is more than enough for the Evoque and not for the FJ.
yeah, but with the fj you’ve got what you paid for while the evoque you ‘ll not, i reckon it will pass the 20000kd mark full option and for a 4 cly…is that what you call great deal?!
beside the real competitor hasn’t come yet like bmw x4, porsche cajun these cars will be a great deal…
17,000 is the price now since it just launched, it will probably drop down to 15,000 in a few months and that puts it just slightly more expensive than the Audi Q5. The X3 was around 16,000 last time I checked and so the X4 is going to cost more than that. The cajun is gonna be 20,000+
i hope the price drop down soon but being in Kuwait i don’t think so, and you can’t say that for a cars that hasn’t launched yet and if right you will get a better engine for sure…
the evouqe is not under 1500kg it starts from 1640kg, and thats without the options so add the extra weight of the potions specially the panoramic roof and it’ will reach over 1750kg if not more…
Even though i hate small engines, but we have to acknowledge that its not about the engine size anymore. its about efficiency and getting more out of less.
Check this out and see the difference between a 16 cylinder and a 6 cylinder. where will you put your money!?

thats what i have been trying to explain to them but they still just look at how many cylinders a car has and judge it based on that.
It’s a sensible choice to buy the porcshe not the bugatti coz the price difference is Massive between the two but the evouqe is a different story…it will offer less that the rivals both in engine performance and the price of it’s rivals won’t be that that different…
engine size + spec = value
what about everything else in the car? according to your equation everyone should just by a maxima
For everyone who thinks 4 cylinders isn’t enough you have to understand 4 cylinders today is not like 4 cylinders yesterday. engines are a lot more efficient, cars are a lot lighter and are now fitted with 6+ speed gearboxes. todays 4 cylinder cars are yesterdays 6 cylinders.
Even formula 1 cars are going towards 4 cylinders!

I personally cant drive a car with such a small window at the back.. I wouldnt be able to see much and i hate it when there are a ton of blind spots. I dont feel safe :p

I remember checking this car out last year at the car show. It looks really weird in a bad way. The interior is nice, but you would expect that from a land rover. But is very small and in reality its a two seater. I think its a very bad deal. Yes its a new car and its a land rover. But, its too under powered and way too overpriced. This price range is supposed around 13,000 KD mark. If you’re gonna cough up 20 K, consider a better investment like the lr4 or a porsche cayenne. Or consider manning up to a real suv like the land cruiser. But not this car/crossover whatever.

I really like this car! Contacted the agency, they said the price hasnt been finalized but it should be below KD18,000…

Let me tell you something about 2012 bmw 5 series lineup..
523i 6 cylinder no more=520i 4 cylinder turbo
528i 6 cylinder no more=528i 4 cynlinder turbo
current 528i pricing is 18,000kd…so in a few months u’ll be buying the same 528 with a 4 cylinder turbo for the same price (yes i checked).
But hey guess what, it’s acually .4 seconds faster to 100km/h and produces 30 ft/tq.
People talking about 4/6 cylinder arguments in regards to power do not know what they are talking about.

Its not yet available at showroom, only at the main store and the launching event was postponed to later date, also all the pieces were sold already.
banks across Kuwait licking their chops at the idea of loads of ppl taking outrageous loans to purchase the new Land Rover … yippeeeeeee
better not try to reverse this car.. no way can that be safe with such a horribly designed back window!
