Fiat 500 now officially on sale

Last year Al Mulla & Behbehani Motor Company announced that they were taking over the Fiat and Alfa Romeo dealership (Both were previously with the National Agencies Group). Their new showroom is opening up sometime this year in Al Rai but today I noticed they already had two Fiat 500’s on display at their Jeep/Dodge showroom (pictured above). The Fiat salesman wasn’t there but according to another salesman they are selling for around KD6,500.

Why would anyone buy this? You are certain to die in this car if you get into any accident on a road in Kuwait. It’s also not cheap, so I just can’t see its appeal.

well the Fiat 500 is a pretty safe car and they’re popular in Europe because of their style, size and fuel economy. Not sure how well they would do here since Kuwait isn’t Europe but the Mini is doing pretty well here so these might as well.

Pretty expensive for this type of car. I am not sure this will live up to the standard of a mini cooper. Fiat do make great cars, i drove one for a while in Europe but i wouldnt drive it in Kuwait. I would be run off the road

Get me the Abarth 500 and I’ll take it with big grin on my face showing all 32 of my teeth πŸ˜€

I think it’ll sell like hotcakes. Especially now that Mini’s are everywhere and frankly quite boring, even when you have the manual gear CooperS.

6,500 – hrmm, right around the price of a Camry. I’m not sure what the base Mini goes for, but I bet it would be a bit more than 6,500.

As with all things, once the hype dies down these things will come down in price.

Burhan I have to disagree with you here Ive Bern driving my mini for the past 4 years and still love it you feel that you are always special.

Plus mini is very expensive to maintain, with regards to the fiat it a nice car with a cute look and an amazing interior you can say it will be a seasonal car that will not last for long and it’s over priced.

The base min starts from 7000kd last time I checked.

dear pop,
the ‘TOPOLINO” name was only given to the 1936-1955 models, and those models dont even look like a fiat 500, so it was there for called the ‘TOPOLINO’ which was the italian name for MICKEY MOUSE. So no,here in italy they dont call it topolino, they call it “Cinquecento” πŸ™‚

Same car, same specs, sold for 6,500 EUROS abroad.

I dont understand the point of over pricing cars in kuwait… Especially at crap dealerships….

6,500? Not sure where you got that price, the “starting” price is 10,500 euros. In the UK its 10,000 pounds.

The mini starts I think at 8,000kd.

Price is pretty steep… But its a nice cute car that would be a perfect gift for my daughter when she graduates.. Yes the wife will kill me but my daughter will love me for it and I would score amazing brownie points with her πŸ˜‰ …. However I still would have to do more research on safety specs, reliabilty, feasabilty of driving on Kuwait roads etc before signing the cheque.

Mark any idea if its stick shift or an automatic ??

Great comments people.
Car is dual logic gearbox, so is both manual and auto, if that helps you security adviser?
Car will be in Fridays carpark at 6pm for an hour this Friday night if anyone fancies a look. But mustangs beware Abarth is coming !!!!!

Since i had a long chat with Mr. Abdulghani Behbahani about the fiat 500, this car is intended for the new generation and the old who recognise this car very well, apparently most people dont understand that the fiat 500 is an italian icon! i personaly have driven the fiat 500 1.2 lounge and the 500 abarth esseesse here in italy, and all i can say is that its way much more “fun” than the cooper and cooper s. now the price isnt cheap and i agree with most of u people, but hey, you cant put a price on a 50 year old icon!! Apparently the abarth will arrive mid june this year, i have no idea about the prices, but the officine abarth over here sell them for 27000 EUROS excluding insurance. This price includes options such as SABELT racing seats, magnetti meralli navigation, sunroof, Xenon headlights, 5speed manual gearbox, and the esseesse kit which includes a BMC airfilter, O.Z painted rims, more rigid suspension system, Brembo slotted brakes. most of u guys wont understand what a fiat 500 means to people, so how about reading before writing πŸ™‚ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_500

If you spend 6,500 KD you have to spend another 2000 for extra safety system. I was driving Fiat a while ago and have nothing positive to say anbout its safety, does not perform well on any crash tests. By the way, it is considered one of the cheapest cars in Europe, I have no clue why it is so expensive here.

Please come to the showroom in AL RAI we have a car ready for you to test drive, it would be an honour. Thankyou. Call 60001011 to arrange.

I drove the Fiat 500. Very nice. i think it will sell like hot cakes even though the price is a bit steep. just give it time and I’ll sure MBMC will have a backlog of orders.

There’s also a nice lady from Microsoft who talks to you while you drive. here Arabic is not to good however.

Test Drive it and if u dont love the how the car feels, i’m sure you’ll fall in love with the audio πŸ™‚
