I am seeing doubles

The menu cover above is the one Nat designed for the b+f Roadside Diner in Oman a year ago. The picture below is of the new menu cover for Chocolate & Macaroon. From all the restaurants in the world couldn’t they copy the menu cover from one that wasn’t Kuwaiti?

and here is a close up

b+f Roadsider Diner belongs to the same owners as Burger Boutique and Slider Station. It’s located in Muscat, Oman and here is a link to their Facebook page. [Link]

loool .. Always copying from the same source 😛 it shows that there is no creativity at all in this country .. People are only copying n pasting , its so easy n fast for those who owns local cheap places 🙂

They are known by everyone to be a copycat. However they are not alone. It seems to be an acceptable practice in this country.

Mark——i have a question for you….is your name really “mark” or is it sumthin like “mohammed yousif kahled al salam bin tarek al rajoob”?
(dont comment on my user name -.-” )

the owner of chocoloate and macaroon is known to do this….remember burger bar the restaurant that used to be in bida’a in the chic place…it had the same decor including lights as slider station…he has no ideas and a lot of money so he just playing around

Too bad Burger Botique doesnt offer an employee discount (that I am aware off) to the 1000+ people working in Raya I and Raya II. Otherwise, we would be there more often.
Hint hint…

I’m sorry I just don’t see it? Aside from the binder-looking thingi on the left it doesn’t look that similar. Ya3ni it doesn’t look like a copy, just a similarity and since this is a restaurant menu in the end there’s a limit to how variable the ideas are, no? Madri 3aadi. I wouldn’t get offended if I were Nat those two menus just don’t give off the same look in their totality.

The idea behind the Roadside Diner menu came from the fact that whole restaurant is based on the roadside diners in the States, the ones you see in movies in the middle of nowhere in the dessert. Part of the interior of the restaurant has like a metal shack like construction so that element was carried across on the menu. The menu was created with this metal material which was also perforated (the lines you see in the close up shot) and then binded. If you don’t see any similarities you must be looking at the wrong pictures.

Chocolate and Macarone did it in the past, they copied Choowy Goowy idea of the jars and brownies, there management is used to this.

They do look very very similar –

Comment number 2 said that is the usual thing in the Gulf to copy,

I don’t think that is the case in Kuwait, I have always thought Kuwait has very creative talent and innovative ideas compared to the whole region. The local concepts there have always been original. Other places usually copy from Kuwait, someone might disagree with me, but that is what I have observed. I live in Dubai by the way, and with all the developments here I still think Kuwait is by far more original and has more soul.

For me its not a case of HOW someone copied this but more of a WHY.

Oh I definitely see a similarity and I said so in my comment – just not a copy. I don’t look at those two menus and get the same overall feel. One is very rough and sort of license-plate’ish. The other is more I don’t know, quirky? The first one (Nat’s) is definitely more edgy. All I’m saying is let’s not get all excited and assume ill intent, some people just come up with similar ideas by coincidence. A simple internet search got me a bunch of sites that do metal menus. Here are some pics:

My earlier comment is not showing for some reason, I think cuz I posted websites? Here it is without the websites:

@1001: Kuwait has 0 copyright laws and how many barber shops for example were named titanic right when the movie came out?

abdullah are you the owner of chocolate an macaroon ? coz you seem to like the idea of copying and pretending everyone else does it. I’m just curious sliders copied what exactly? be precise.

Whodat: True dat, and well said
Mark: Answer Bob the builder’s question, he’s eager to find out and I’m just curious.
N everybody chill, they have the same menu cover, big deal. They got good macaroons and mini-burgers. And they probably had to go to b + f’s management and and ask them for their supplier or manufacturer to get the exact same scored material and fabrication technique so b+f were probably fine with it, maybe, don’t quote me. Ahaa, so its Khaled Yousef not Yousef Khaled. So he mixed up the dad with the grandaddy. Close bobby, but no cigar for you.
