Expensive Grapes

I passed by Kei for dinner tonight and noticed they had a small fridge full of fruits imported from Japan. The grapes looked really good and I would have bought some if it wasn’t for the fact that they cost KD15 each! KD15 for grapes. KD15 for grapes. And one more time, KD15 for grapes!

I think its expensive in Japan cuz its hard to get over there. so why are they importing it from a country that itself finds it hard to get this fruit?!

i’m sure there are plenty of Kuwaitis spending that much for fruit. or else they wont be selling any ;/

fruits are known to be expensive in japan. I remember I paid 5kd for a glass of fresh orange juice when I visited Tokyo.

But again, 15kd is 4531 yen!

You will pay that much for wine in grapes? Give me some grapes and a syringe. I will inject some wine in the grapes for you. lol.

hello ppl … MADE IN JAPAN!!!! everything from

japan is expensive… wonder if any chineese saw them :)))

Those grapes are from Mount Fuji. The vineyard is located in a secluded area and is harvested by troops of rare snow baboons. They then place it in an icy stream to keep it fresh.A farmer would then take bananas and cashew nuts and trade it for the grapes.

So if nobody buys them what happens ? Do they sent it back to Japan ? Make Jam and sell for 25 KD ? Make Wine? 15 KD for grapes

the grapes are not organic. taste wise though, they might be better than organic. now why the 15KD? consider this: land price is very expensive in Japan. Farmers there actually do make a good living, as opposed to many other places.

these are not mass-produced like many other grapes from other places.. and they have higher sugar level ..they actually test them in Japan…..So in Japan they cost around 6~7KD EACH in a high standard fruit shop in Japan. so they take a chilled flight to Kuwait via Emirates and the cost would jump at least to 3 times (customs, shipping costs, taxes (if any)) – they are shipped from Japan after all.

but the key is FRESHNESS……so buy them when they are fresh… along w/ the melons .. they are are real treat when eaten fresh

Just try once, then you won’t be able to eat other grapes. You will not mind even paying 20KD for these grapes or other fruits sold there. They are that good.

I have had really good grapes. I don’t know how much better these grapes will be. But they’re nearly perfect looking. I’d rather spend 15 kd on these than 10 kd on a hamburger.. Sorry Mark…lol

Anonymous- I think you’ve been eating the mushrooms growing in my garden…….

Each grape has a different affect on your body..
but some of them cancel each other so make sure u pick the right ones….

and lol @ Desert Girl yeah u need to pick the right one 😛

People trust me, the taste is FANTASTIC like you ever tasted !!!!

Actually, there are some different kind of grapes doesn’t cost 15 KD are available in Kei.

Previously this event “Oishii Nippon – Delicious Japan”
was in Salhiya Complex but now they do in Kei restaurant at the Marina Mall.

I know 15KD for grapes sounds ridiculously expensive, but it worth it!
And this time they tried to cut in price, like the price for melons got much cheaper than before actually.

Massive apples, oranges and some other fruits are there as well.

Why don’t you give it a try :]
