Kei hasn’t shut down

Contrary to the rumors, Kei hasn’t shutdown and moved out of Marina Crescent. What’s happened is they’ve just reduced the size of the place by half and sold the other half to Caribou Coffee. I think that’s actually a good move since their Marina Crescent branch was fairly over-sized and I like my sushi places small and cozy. There is no opening date yet but for your Kei fix you can still visit their JW Marriott location.

They had a sign on that wooden door, a month back, which said they’ll be open after 3eed.

When I saw the caribou signs up and that paper not on the door anymore, I assumed they had closed.

Why would they remove that piece of paper\notice anyways!

What I understood is that they closed down to renovate, then they got an offer for the place. So they sold half the place. Caribou came and plastered there coming soon across the whole place giving the impression that Kei completely shutdown. Kei spoke to caribou and they had half the coming soon sticker removed.

Yeah, I saw that sign that said they’ll open up after 3eed. But when I didn’t see it the other night, along with all that Caribou boarding, I mistakenly got the impression the whole place closed down.

I don’t know if I’m glad Kei is still there, I mean, Marina Crescent is clearly not the place for them anymore.

And on the same topic, I also think Al-Shaye3 would have a better opportunity opening Shake Shack instead of Pizza Express in MArina Crescent πŸ™‚

Shake shack will have Johnny Rockets to compete with at cresent and we all know Johnny has the upper hand due to familiarity with the ppl. I’m saying shake shack isn’t better than Johnny Rockets, i just think johnny has been in the market more and has a bigger base which shake shack might find hard to compete with in such a small area.

i know Shake Shack is new to Kuwait but have you seen the place and how busy it is? yes JR will have their loyal customers but as far as Im concerned .. Shake Shack blows em outta the water … I doubt Shake Shack would find it hard to best JR at Marina Crescent

Does Kei own the store or are they renting.

Isn’t the case that most if not all of the stores are being leased in those malls?

Kei does not own the store but most stores in Kuwait are given upon vacating their spot by the new tenants a “khelew” which is a payment for vacating the store that they occupied.

i see plenty of competing business’ “facing each other” as you say in the USA … competition is the best form of flattery … may the best burger chain win πŸ™‚ or coffee house etc.

Since when is competition illegal ? Man if anything this country needs more competition in the market there are way too many monopolies in this country.
