Someone told me that Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is opening up in Kuwait. This story was supposingly published in a newspaper that Khorafi got the rights to it. Anyone got more info?

khorafi owns 6.7% of Krispy Kreme.The franchisee contracts have been signed and americana is in the process of setting up operations in Kuwait and Dubai simultaneously. hopefully by Sept – october Kuwait will have its first Krispy kreme Store.The quality will be the same as everything is imported,even the machines direct, from the US.The flagship restaurant wil have the trademark “doughnut showcase” window!

when will Dunkin Doughnuts open up? I saw the store in Salmiyah, pretty big for a doughnut store, and it still did not operate. What is up with that?

That is indeed true
Krispy I believe had no plans to go GCC regional. Khorafi started accumulating the stock a while back and now have a board seat. Im sure they don’t mind being added to the portfolio of one of the richest families in the world. 🙂

Thinking about it, Khorafi should next open up a “fat farm” here in Kuwait, then they can make money off of getting ppl fat and making them skinny again… thus the vicious cycle ensues and the congrolmerate prints even more money
I understood alshaya had outbid Khorafi on Krispy Kreme and were about to close the deal when Khorafi went and bought the shares.

If this place sets up as cafe there is going to be a huge line! loool! Seriously they are going to make a lot of money in Kuwait the first couple of months until things calm down a bit! People are gonna go nuts! They played it smart, they waited until the stock went down before buying out a certain percentage.. it used to be at $50 but now its around $6! So its easier to buy it out!
doughnuts are gonna be the fad in Kuwait. Just like coffee is now. Actually, they do compliment each rather rather well :>

yeah!!!with all the the stores opening from americana kuwait…under the success is the exploitation of workers with 70 to 100 kd salary…but anyway karma is around the corner…
poor services and donuts are not fresh at all even can not bite ,so dry and hard like crackers.
