The Kuwait national women volleyball team will head to China Saturday to participate in the third Asian beach volleyball tournament, scheduled June 12-22. In statements KUNA, Chairwoman of Kuwaiti Women Sports Federation Sheikha Naeema AlAhmad AlJaber AlSabah said Kuwait will be represented in the event with two teams, each comprises two players Sheikha Naeema that the Federation was keen to participate in the Asian tournament to show the progress of women’s sports in Kuwait and to enrich players expertise to improve their performance in coming international championships.
But out of adherence to Islam’s teachings and Kuwait players will wear modest uniform,” she said” Sheikha Naeema noted that the Federation had prepared well for the tournament through an intensive training program for players and the participation in the Arab women volleyball championship that was held recently in Jordan. Firstly I didn’t know Kuwait had a women’s beach volleyball team and secondly what exactly is a modest uniform? It’s a sport that takes place on the beach so I can’t imagine them being covered up too much. I tried to find pictures online of the team but didn’t have any luck. I also tried to find a random picture of a women’s beach volleyball match that didn’t involve a skimpy two piece swimsuit but also didn’t have any luck. I imagine they might be wearing a burkini (pictured above)?

man why would you have a problem with them dressed as a “burqini” atleast they are covered nicely ..thier uniform could be something else but you shouldnt make fun of such things ..instead you should be supportive of such things where muslim women are coming forward to make thier country proud !!and atleast they are not 1/4 naked !

I have a problem with people being told what to and what not to wear. It’s 2012 not 1012 if you want to wear a “burqini” for your own personal beliefs good for you if you want to be a 1/4 naked WHY IS IT ANYONE ELSE’s PROBLEM!?
People need to mind their own business. Not everyone believes in what you believe, your definition of right or wrong is not the same as the other 6 billion people living on this earth. This backward thinking needs to stop, its incredibly idiotic.

found an article on the dress code for womens beach volleyball which was recently modified, now they’re allowed to wear sleeved tops and “shorts of a maximum length of (1.18 inches) above the knee”

I saw that earlier but it’s related specifically for the Olympics. For anything outside the Olympics I think they’re more flexible to what you can wear.

I would think if you’re religious enough to wear it on your sleeve everywhere (cover your head), you should not publicly and professionally play volleyball AT ALL since it would be technically haram to even have women publicly competing in any form of sport. KSA won’t even let them drive FFS haha

They look ridiculous. It is how they play, not how they dress and that is how they will be judged in China, not by their dress, Kuwait.

This costume will put them at a serious disadvantage plsying the sport. They might as well not go to China or stop playing beach volleyball period.This is truly taking the mickey out of beach volley ball as a sporting form. In keeping with Islamic tradition, even the men’s team should ideally not be playing beach volleyball- bare chested. Get them to cover up as well. No double standards to be allowed in sport especially, in the international arena.
Their juices will run out fast against the blistering beach sun!…I might as well sing against all odds!:)
Oh well..Now the whole world will get to see a sweat patch fest.. kinda like a wet T-shirt contest but not so appealing and extremely yucky. ;-0
