According to Net Index, Kuwait ranks 104th place worldwide when it comes to the average internet speed while Luxembourg tops the list with an average speed of 41.01 Mbps. They also have a list of the fastest ISP’s and currently WiMD who are my current favorite ISP are leading the list by a good chunk. That probably has to do with the fact that the slowest speed they are willing to sell you is 6Mbps while with others like Qualitynet you could sign up to 1Mbps if you want to. The only exciting one is WIMD, all the rest are the same so if Kems is working for you then why fix what isn’t broken?
Well it also doesn’t help the fact that many of us are on old DSL lines and prices are outrageously high.
Still with WIMD + Kems DSL I am able to get around 20mbps download which makes me a happy camper lol.
Sorry by DSL I meant phone lines, once all of Kuwait finally makes the jump to fiber prices will drop like crazy because more people can support high speeds.
Interesting that MADA is averaging 2.6mbps when their advertised speed is 10mbps..
They advertise up to 10Mbps and not guaranteed 10Mbps.
Exactly, like viva/zain/wataniya’s 7.2mbps, 21mbps, and 42mbps.

🙂 Sure… 10mbps… My maximum speed is 1.1mpbs and I have 5 from 5 signal strength. I have more then 10 open ticket with complains to Mada about speed and their answer is always “We have technical problems in your area and our technicians will fix it soon” (I have no idea what they mean in “soon”, because I have this speed more then 5 month).
When you call to support, they have only one suggestion about increase your speed 😀
“Sir, please restart your router or change your SSID and password, maybe you have default password and your neighbors using your internet”.

Another “helpful” suggestion from their support is “Sir, please bring your router to our head office and we update your firmware”. But question is why I need update my firmware if I have good speed at 5:00AM and daytime or evening my speed is 1mbps? At 5AM my firmware is working well and another time not?
Anyway if you decide to go their head office and “update your firmware” good luck with that! Because this is almost impossible. They don’t have office location map on their website and even when you find their office there is never empty parking available near their office!
Their all crap…To be honest Zain is the worst man, they are scammer !! But, gotta admit the only ones that are legit is WIMD and QuiltyNet, hats of the them, fast, worth it and reliable !! :/
Oh and to prove Zain are scammer, they say its 21.6MB/s and the hidden parts is that when you call them…they’ll be like “NO sir, your test is wrong its actually 21.6MBits/s” 23 KD, gone to waste, at least Wataniya and VIVA are fast, and cheap to !!
I’m with fast tel , i pay for 1 MB but I’m getting 6MB and more, being an honest guy or trying to be, I called them and said you are giving me 6 times what I’m paying for, the guy answered : enjoy and dont tell, that was 3 years ago and still with them.
I guess “Mark” is hellbent to promote these wireless mobile data company, n guess what only time will prove his foolishness 😀
It’s no the same. Mada is pay a set price and hope for the best, with WIMD you pay for the exact speed you want so it’s like dsl, if you’re too far and you can’t handle say 15mbps then you pay for a lower speed.

I have wimd. I paid for 8 but getting at best 6 now. I guess they have already started the syndrome of more customers lower quality service as usual.
Then ask them to refund you the difference, simple as that. They aren’t Mada or viva or whatever your paying for 8 if your not getting 8 but are getting 6 then pay for 6.
I called and complained. They keep promising they will fix it!
I did the same. I originally went for 15 but ended up bringing it down to 12. They sent a technician to my house and he tried, eventually he said its not possible and requested them to refund me the difference. Ask them to send a technician to your house to fix it and if he can’t they should refund you.
They are all crap, They use deceptive advertising The entire world refers MBPS as mega bytes per second. But here MBPS means Mega bits per second.
so divide rates by 8!
I have had q-net, Waytanya, viva, Kems now I have Mada I get between 2.5 to 12 Mega bytes per second. but they don’t cap my downloads.
I want to resell KTC as Kuwait’s fist giga ISP 1.308 GBPM I will buy the 21.8 service then resell it at the mega bits per second X 60 = 1.308 GBPM Giga bits per minute and charge 5 times the rate. For 10 times the the rate I will offer 78.48 GBPH Giga Bits per hour (up to Claus). Any Takers….
As for customer service I just put you on hold until you give up. as to not disrupt the Status Quo.
I used to visit the sales point to pay by the month never enter into a long term contract with the respectable ISP!!! there I would attempt to do a speed test on their display computers only thing Their display computers did not have internet access.
