Kuwat Internet Speed vs The World

I guess our Internet is not that slow here in Kuwait… if we compare ourselves to Sudan and Yemen… [Link]

Thanks Najib

hmmm.. that’s not completely true, there a huge difference between bandwidth and speed “concept wise”, and adjudging the performance of the internet based on “speed” is not accurate at all,
if you are concerned about the time it takes you to reach a specific IP or domain “like opining a site maybe”, you should consider where that IP/server is located, and through which international upstream/downstream path is it going through, these are all main factors for determining what people might call “speed”, i guess the IETF should start taking that concept seriously from now on since everyone is using it this way 🙂
ooh, bandwidth is the amount of data that can be carried from one point to another in a given time period “second” and is usually expressed in bits 😛

After not getting enough support from Renault F1 the last time around we are currently in the final stages of a technology swap deal with the McLaren Group.

Whats up with telephone lines in Salwa? I have been trying to get a line for over two years and it just does not seem to happen. Any news of the fiber optic cables that the M.O.C installed?

So if Gulfnet says they are giving you a 4 Mbps line for KD 311/-, they are basically bull shitting you right!

Keith, this is the average connection speed in Kuwait based on people from Kuwait who’ve run their speed test. It’s not the max connection speed available in Kuwait.

one thing is for sure in Kuwait–> going from worse to worst
mis-managing everything. we can’t even build a freaking stadium nor a new hospital without messing it up……..

@ B_G_T_R
The problem is not that we can’t build it, the problem is that there is way too much corruption and shit gets done wrong on purpose just to extend the length of the contract and to suck money out of people and it’s all sponsored by our fine kuwaiti men in the governments.

Anyways, I’m not surprised that Korea is 1st. Them and Japan are way ahead of any other country’s internet telecommunications. I was expecting Kuwait to be under the 100s. Horrible service, constant black outs, and super high prices for super slow internet speeds.

Yea…these are the average speeds. I was in Sofia, Bulgaria, a couple of months ago, I was downloading stuff at 50Mbps. Yea actual download speed was 50mbps. Weeks worth of downloads were done in a matter of minutes.

Ya Dude, I am aware it is the average speed….I was just egging you on to say something about Gulfnet (your client :P) …..me evil!
