There is a new Mexican restaurant that’s opening up tomorrow (Friday) in Mahboula called Lita’s. It’s a small place that’s owned by Khaled Mulla who is half Kuwaiti and half Mexican. From what I understood he wants the local community to experience real authentic Mexican food which currently is lacking in Kuwait. They’ll be making their own flour tortillas on the spot and the Chef is a family member that is coming in from Mexico to run the place himself who’s been in the business for over 30 years. This along with the announcement of a Mexican Embassy opening up soon should be great news for the small (200+) Mexican community in Kuwait.
I’m currently in Lebanon for a few days so I won’t be able to pass by and try it but if you’re interested the place is in Mahboula, Block 1 off of street 210. Here is the [Map]
Thanks Edgar

Awww I love love LOVE mexican food! I am so happy!
I hope more mexican food restaurants open up! I know there is one in the village project in Abu Al79ani opening up too… but since this is already opening so soon I will make sure I pass by!
Yes, I tried lita’s and I think the food is ok, the owner is very nice but I’d to be able to sit down. I have also hear that there is a new restaurant opening at the Village. The owner is 100% Mexican she is bringing a very experienced Mexican chef (who has worked in a famous Mexican restaurant in Mexico City) The place looks lovely and apparently the tortillas will also be handmade but CORN tortillas as Mexicans eat more corn than flour tortillas!!!! Can wait for this other place to open to, in the mean time I can go for another taco to lita’s.
The fact that the owner is half Mexican doesn’t make their food any less in quality– as a Mexican/Texan I think their food is delicious! I think it was an extremely smart idea that they started out small as a take-away spot (taqueria). With so many dining spots in Kuwait you never know how successful your business will turn out, so why invest in anything fancy? I wish them the best of luck– and look forward to watching them grow! 🙂
Mabrook, will try it soon inshalla.
BTW, where do u get the best Taco’s?
had some awesome tacos at Choowy Goowy Restaurant not long back .. worth a shot
finally!
Just up the street. I’m so excited.
Omg……… I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD!!! If this place is good my dreams will come true!
Buena suerte.. <3
I hope it is authentic as the other options here are terrible. Good Mexican food is always my 1st or 2nd (only to good Texas Bar-B-Q), and since it right around the corner it is convenient.
Riscky’s or Rudy’s BBQ or some Mexican food in San Antonio.
I hope is somewhat authentic bc mexican food in Kuwait is just non-existent.
Also it sucks it’s in Mahboula wtf these Americans need to open up in closer areas if they want their businesses to do well in the long term…
BEST choice of location IMO. Where do you live? Salmiya? A jungle of restaurants…
Please read the article first before making a comment instead of just the header, it is very much authentic Mexican food and the cook is a Mexican Chef that’s been doing this for about 30 years. Plus the owner is Kuwaiti, not American. Besides the area is probably not what you’d like but Kuwait said “Salmiya? A jungle of restaurants….” Rent there is probably sky high as well, this allows them to keep costs down, and prices too.
PFunk, Mahboula has quite a few American residents so maybe that is the reason the restaurant opened there..
location ain’t important , the food itself
I love mexican food!
I would love one of those huge chicken burritos right now. like the ones, I used to have in Central Valley. I’m excited to try their cuisine. good luck Khaled Mulla, wish you the best.
I’ll go everyday if its good!

If you decide to open another branch PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASEEEEE keep the concept the same (Mexican chef, etc). I went to an Italian spot in the FTZ once and my pasta tasted like curry. CURRYYYY!!! I couldn’t finish it, and I never went back again. Just a suggestion. Best of luck!!! 😀
Wish you the best of luck putting gone on Arifjan. Lita’s is a decent place for Mexican, definetly better than any other place here that has Mexican food items on there menu! But I must say that all it is is TEX-Mex! KD3 for 1 fajita burrito is alittle high I might add. Yes you do get a little side of beans and rice but I expected at least enough meat in there for 2 fajita tacos(that’s what they call burritos in Mexico, the burrito term is really for the U.S.). I am glad that you will be getting the horchata drink in the coming weeks. The chili de verde and de rojo was awesome, just like back home. you need to tweek the menu a bit. you need to offer a combo plate that has a little of everything. My cousin has a 50 year generation place back in Texas and they have a 2 taco/2 enchilada plate. I didnt get your meun though when it said combo plate and enchilada plate. Was I just reading it wrong or was it just the same thing. The girl at the counter didn’t explain it very well. The tortillas, in my opinion, could be just a tad thicker. My fajita taco was breaking apart. The rice has a nice flavor but was missing the diced bell pepper and onion cooked in with it. Sopapillas, hot soft and fresh from the oven, is a must for your business. Emapnada, pan de huevo, marranito, and cuernosde azucar are also big fan favorites to bring to your business once you guys get the cash flow going! Well I wish nothing but the best for you guys in this profitable business venture!
I can’t wait to try this! I wonder what kind of food they serve since tacos, burritos, etc is north Mexican mainly. People in the rest of the country have their own dishes
I was going to do something like that 3 years ago but since I am American I would have gotten shitted on in profits! Good luck to him on his business venture. As long as he does it right with the quality of food and service he should really make out on this! The wife and I will try it after he is open for a while.
OMG, finally!!! And I can walk there. There goes the diet plan out the window!
I ate there today and had the enchiladas and tacos. Great salsa which I liked the Verde most. The food was great, service was quick and to top it all off Khalid and his family are genuinely nice people with a great product. Good Luck Lita’s
I went there today and i gotta say that food isnt that bad but wasn’t great either. I had to repeat my order 3 times before it was made.
I ordered a burrito and was expecting something as least bigger than a chicken sandwich for 1KD price but it wasn’t.
Food is OK, prices are too high for what you get IMO.
Gotta try it sometimes.
Dear TSK
I’m the owner of Lita’s and I’m glad that u comment about the size of the burrito and I want to say that I will make them bigger so please come again and I will give other burrito for free and It will twice the size u got ok Thanx again for ur comment
Khalid,
Que onda. Van a tener horchata?
I hope its the real deal not another version of a tex mex taco bell. Most people here love the commercialized version of Mexican food. Who orders a burrito ? Give us the moles !
Amen to that!! Give us the menudos too! 😛
Does anyone have a telephone number for this place? thank you 🙂
6096-6925 but I don’t think they deliver…
Went by there Friday afternoon, they were closed with no phone number or operating hours on the door. Went back again today at noon (12pm)and they were still serving breakfast. They said they dont serve lunch until 1pm. If you ask me thats a little late to start serving lunch concidering all the other fast food resturant in the area serve lunch at 11am. So I went somewhere else.
I just tried and it tastes great, real mexican food..it’s more a take away than a dine-in, my only request was to open another branch near Kuwait city or salmiya. Overall, thumbs up.
My husband & I went there this afternoon, and I was in heaven!! FINALLY REAL MEXICAN FOOD IN KUWAIT!!!! I grew up in Houston where there’s a huge Mexican community, so I was used to having yummy Mexican spots whenever I felt the craving, so you can imagine the withdrawal I felt when I moved to Kuwait LOL We had the 3 tacos combo and the mixed fajita combo and everything was DELISHHHH, FRESHHH & AUTHENTICCCCCCC!! Portions & prices are perfect. The only thing I can suggest to the owners (who are soooo nice & friendly which is another important thing btw) is that they should sell individual tacos. I kinda felt like having one more taco, but I didn’t order more because another combo would have been too much food for me (meals come w/rice and beans). Other than that, I give them an A+++++++++++++!!!! Best of luck guys!!!!! 😀
I heard about this from friends and was going to go on Friday but life got in the way and I missed out on the opening of this restaurant. I went straight from work today. It is take away, ordered two different kinds of Enchiladas and Green Chili Beef. Very tasty food. This is going to be a hit in Kuwait. Congratulations and good luck to you Khaled.
OK, went and tried it for dinner tonight. As a serious lover of Mexican food I have to say I wasn’t to impressed. The shredded beef taco was just OK, not much flavor; the Chicken Enchilada was horrible, tasted nothing like it should; the re-fried bean was like a soup with no taste and the Mexican Rice was very plain. I’m not trying to be a jerk, I just think that the Mexican taste was seriously lacking. I wish them well though and hope that their business is a success.
Best Mexican food in Kuwait. Even better than some places in the states.
If it is better than some places in the States, then the cooks probably arent Mexican!
I went to Lita’s last night with my wife and co-worker. The place is very small, but the food is very good, and a decent price. I had the chicken tacos and my wife had the beef enchiladas with red sauce. All of it very tasty with fresh pico de gallo and fresh salsa.
I got to meet the owner and his family there as well. Very genuine and kind people. I wish them well and great suceess.
I can’t wait to try their breakfast burritos. Go try Lita’s if you are in Mahboula.
The food IS really great. Could be larger in proportion though. We met Khalid and his mother last night when we went there for the first time. They are really good folks and you can definitely tell that mama has her own recipe put into this business. Price is much better than other places too. I spent about 3.5KD for a combo meal and drink. Sure beats the 10 to 12KD in that other place that doesn’t even have good tasting food.
Great job on the restaurant Khalid and mama.
Man this place rocks. Amazing food at throwaway price. As this place is just downstairs I eat every time I go down but I would not mind even driving 50 miles to just have a bite at this place. I never thought Mexican food can be that tasty.
The food is fresh and awesome. Guys, you must try once but beware its highly addictive.
I warn you the food is addictive. I have ate there everday since they opened for the both breakfast and lunch. There are plenty choices, food is delicious, and the customer service is second to none. The food is fresh and a taste of home; finally a REAL mexican dish in Kuwait. One suggestion BREAKFAST BURRITOS must be served all day, which the owner has been kind of to fix for me evertime I requested them although I was there twice past the 11am cut off.
I’ve eaten at Lita’s twice since it opened and it is very much authentic and delicious! I am once again excited about dinner! I encourage everyone to try it out, you will not be dissapointed!
Good Mexican food is the only thing I really miss from America.
I really miss home made, mom and pop Mexican like you can get in Socal and Las vegas.
Breakfast burritos with salsa verde? Check. homemade tortillas? check.
sopapillas? Check?
Lita’s is really good home made food made by a family run restaurant. as good as any mexican food i’ve ever had n socal or bc.
excellent food at great prices and the owners there to make the extra effort. awesome.
What a great restaurant! Loved it. Khaled, u rule! WOW!
really really amazing food khaled and family are very warm and friendly highly recomended! thank you for your hospitalty! from william
I tried it today for lunch. The food was superb and Mr. Khalid and his mother are very kind and very sweet! They deserve all the best… thank god we have decent Mexican food in Kuwait.
I posted about it here with pictures of everything 🙂

Went there yesterday.Had Chicken Enchilada (best I have had)Chicken Burrito ( average), Quasedilla ( wasn”nt that impressed. Owners are really friendly. Need to open a place closer to Kuwait city for frequent visit.Place is small with only 2 small table and space for around 6 ppl to eat.
Nice place , good concept . Rating 4.0/5.0

I wish that the place is a little bit bigger that we can sit and enjoy.
2 thumbs up.

Just came back from Lita’s and I met Khalid and his wonderful Mexican mother and uncle who were cooking up a storm. I must say it was delicious and definitely authentic.
Thanks for the great experience and everyone should go give it a try.

Yummy! Excellent food. Tried it & loved it.
It’s sooo good! I had boritos and they taste really good!!!
Went to Lita’s today and had a big order to go. Mouthwatering food. Thumbs up! 🙂
It was nice to have a little bit of home here in Kuwait. The food and service was great. Heading for seconds…
Thinks
Simply the best tasting Mexican Food Restaurant in all of Kuwait. All the others: Taco Time, Amigos, ChiChi’s and Taco Bell – pack your bags, your services are no longer required, make room for Lita’s.
Check out our new website! http://Www.LITASkw.com has menu, pics, contact info and directions. Also to keep uptodate with new specials of the day and new items.
yes we need a real Mexican food. For god’s sake some people think taco bell is actually mexican food
HOLY BUCKETS! I created this account JUST to comment on the Mexican food that I am STILL eating! It is so delicious!
I have been waiting forever for this restaurant to open and it finally happened!!!
I got shredded beef enchiladas with rice/refried beans and an order of nachos. I just finished my enchiladas and I have no room for anything else! The portions are huge! And the cilantro! So delicious and FRESH and CLEAN!
Kahlid is as friendly as can be and knows his product. I am SO happy that this place is open in my ‘hood!
Buena Suerte! Can’t wait to order again!
Same here I just got this account as well to make a comment! I was out when I was craving for enchiladas so then I thought of Lita I read in 248. Had no idea where Lita was and I remembered that I copied the restaurant number down in my phone. M.Khalid sent me the map of the place right away I ordered for take away. There was a nice welcome homemade tapas and food were ready so quickly! Actually I didnt notice how time passed as I was having a conversation with M.Khlaid and his lovely mother, very generous, kind lady!
I got chicken enchiladas, burrito and nachos! the food is so delicious!! I loved the sauces, they are not salty in general and taste wise real mexican food! The beans are nicely cooked and every ingredient is so fresh! I defnitely recommand to everyone craving for a descent snack-meal! You could eat eat eat without feeling heavy and oily!!
I hope I can taste every single food of their menu soon! Good luck Lita’s!!
me and my friend went there today, and let me just say it’s the best place for REAL MEXICAN FOOD, forget about taco bell, taco time and amigos, lita is the Place for Mexican food lover’s, the food is made with love 😉 and it was so delicious that i wish i ordered some for dinner cuz i ate it around 5 pm and that’s not dinner LOL…So
1- Great Food with the best ingredients
2- good price’s not very high
3- Nice people do affect the place and they are SUPER NICE.
i think everyone should try it.
Ok people, the only other “REAL” Mexican food here is in Mornin n Evenin in Fahaheel, and the only reason I say that is because it isn’t franchised(ie: Taco Bell, Taco Time, Chi Chi’s, and so on). So please don’t compare this, freshly made daily Mexican food to a chain franchise that uses pre-mixed frozen product that arrives in a box.
Thanks for the great food and hospitality.
The food is great very authentic food.
I will be stopping by for my lunches.
We need everyone to give them the business so they can get a bigger place where we can all sit down and enjoy their great food!!!
Thanks you made it a little bit more like home!
Arizona, Latino
Stopped by there today.Food was great and ,great hospitality .Will be going there again
July 1st special of day is Menudo!!!
Some of the best Menudo I have had in a long time… I waited all week for it and I got what I paid for. Great stuff….
The food was soo great. People you have to TRY IT (WALA 3AJEEEB)
Very nice …. enjoyed the food and the chat Khaled…. Mucho Gusto!!! espero que la proximo 🙂
I food is fantastic, only that that needs to improve is that the cashier should who handles the money should never be the person fixing your food. Money is very dirty passing from hand to hand and wherevers else and that really needs to be stopped. Owner may not even realize this is happening and worker surely not thinking clearing or realize what she is doing. I am so sure it is not on purpose. She uses gloves cool, but in the same turn uses same gloves to fix the burritos not sanitary. If that is fixed everything else is fantastic and food is awesome.
Just a little insight by a faithful diner.
Thanks
I didn’t Like at all!! I don’t think kuwaitis would appreciate the strong flavors!! u need to make the flavor more appealing to us!! Secondly the location is no where to be found it took us 3hours to find it not to mention the absence of real roads and small sized with two tables only restaurant, it’s no different than flafil Indian restaurant!! It made me wonder is it even clean? Plus the high prices its barely a restaurant yet they charge money as if they’re famous!! What a rip off!!!
Are you SERIOUS???? If you want food that appeals to “Kuwaitis” then I suggest you go eat Arabic food or stick to the Falafel Indian restaurant you’re talking about! That’s like saying “go make Japanese food, but make it taste like Indian food” 🙂
The whole point of having an AUTHENTIC Mexican restaurant is to have AUTHENTIC Mexican food (authentic Mexican = taste like real Mexican food).
Plus, I don’t think you speak for all Kuwaitis as there are many Kuwaitis here who LOVED their cuisine just the way it is…
Eve,
We Apologize for the unfamilar taste of how Authentic Mexican Food tastes We import all Mexican Products so you can enjoy true Mexican flavor. we invite you to come back so we can refund your money back and tell us what we can improve on. we really want to make our food so everyone likes it because Lita’s wAnts the best for everyone. Also in near future to have a larger dinning area.
Thanks
LITAS
Today July 10th LITAS Will Be Closed do to Power Outage sorry for inconvenience
Power back on ; Open for Business
great foood !! great service !! great owner !! you will feel at home and have home cooked-like mexican food !! Amazing experience overall !! Must go… try the various salsa’s, they are amazing. Cant wait to go again
Went there yesterday for dinner with friends. Delicious authentic mexican food!! we had beef and chicken burritos and cheese and turkey quesadillas. The food was amazing – truly authentic Mexican flavors. Will def pass by again. Khalid is an extremely friendly and very accommodating guy and will go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable. We wish him and Lita’s the best of luck 🙂 Again great food hands down !!
Had the green chili burito combo plate last nite. I have to say that it was VERY good. They are not stingy on the portions. Defenitely will be going there again, again, again…I think you get the point. A must do on the food chain…
oh,we are so disappointed about the temporary closure of litas, anyway they said that it wont take so long, just the REAL OWNER JABER has to fix all the necessary papers and they will be back for a better service with the mexican chef DAVID and the original crew as well…new management, better food, better service…without any monkey business inside just like what the previous management did…best of luck guys!!
nice to know coz we really love mexican food, and only them has that real mexican food here in kuwait!!! i miss the enchilladas and tacos!!! whatever issues they have what we want is for them to open again so soon….
I never got a chance to visit Lita’s..Is it still closed, or perhaps relocated..I want to try it out so if you have information please let me know..Gracias..
I ate their with some friends last night and the service was good. For freshly made food, the wait was expectedly, actually shorter than I expected. I had a chicken fajita and it was very good. They served us some churros drizzled with chocolate after which were also good. I will definitely be going back.
