Yesterday evening two large bags filled with food were delivered to my home. A new place opened up called LoFat and they wanted me and Nat to try out their food and maybe post about it on the blog so they could get some publicity. I don’t think I have ever refused free food and I wasn’t going to begin now so I agreed and a few hours later their delivery guy delivered 2 large brown bags filled with goodies.
They sent us a lot of food which was really cool, they sent us beef wraps, veggie wraps, turkey wraps, a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese, unfried fries, 2 Tiramisu’s, 2 brownies, 2 chocolate chip cookies and 2 oatmeal cookies.
The first thing I did when I set the food on the table was to take a look at the prices in the menu. I was expecting to see some ridiculously high prices for food items of very small quantity but surprisingly everything cost under KD1.750. Nat came into the room and the first thing she noticed was how good everything smelled. Even though the delivery guy had lost his way to my apartment the food still arrived warm and fresh.
The biggest delima now was where to start from, so many choices to choose from but in the end I decided to start off with the unfried fries. 30 minutes later and more then half way through Desperate Housewives (Season 2 Episode 22) we had finished eating. I think we overate, you know you hear low fat food and you just can’t stop eating. I loved their fries, I don’t know how they are made, I think they are steamed and then grilled or something, they tasted really good and the best part about them is they are not fried. The grilled chicken sandwich was also really good and Hard Rock Cafe should take their recipe since they can’t seem to make a simple thing like a grilled sandwich taste good. I really didn’t like the veggie wrap since I am not into this weird stuff, I don’t even know what it was, I think it tasted a bit like falafel or something. I also didn’t like the low carb turkey wrap since it was wrapped in lettuce, a concept I don’t believe in. I think lettuce wraps should be banned. The beef wrap was ok, Nat liked them more then me but the deserts were the best. I didn’t try the Tiramisu since I don’t like coffee but the brownies.. wow… thats some really good stuff. I really loved their brownies and I can’t believe they are low fat. Their cookies were also good but the oatmeal cookie costs 500fils which I find too expensive.
I really wasn’t expecting the food to turn out good because when I think healthy and low fat I think of stuff like the veggie wrap and lettuce wrapped sandwiches which I don’t find appetizing at all. But the grilled chicken sandwich with the hot melted cheese is definitely the thing I would order the next time. The brownies I think are the best I have had and knowing that they were low fat doesn’t make me feel guilty for having them. The cookies… well you know where my heart is on that one. I think Nat enjoyed the food more since she ate more then me (a first). I always get pissed at her since she doesn’t eat much and now I know her secret, just add the word low fat to her meal and watch it all disappear.
I will scan their menu later on and upload it to the blog but for now I just have their delivery number which is 7666733. I will try to have the menu up tonight. (check below)
For the final score I will have to give them 3.5 out of 5. The grilled chicken sandwich and the Brownies were really good and the unfried fries should be available in more places. I really didn’t like neither the veggie wrap nor the lettuce wrapped turkey wrap, but I won’t include them in the review since I hate them in general and not only in this restaurant. If anyone decides to order from them make sure to order the fries and the brownies. Finally their prices are also very decent.. except for the 500fils oatmeal cookie, I still don’t get that.
The menu is available [Here]. Their delivery number is 7666733
update: I droped the score down to 3.5 because as some people brought it to my attention, they don’t mention any kind of nutritional information nor the amount of calories in the food. Something that is important for their target customers.

free food tasts good always
I want free low fat food. I promise I’ll blog about it too lol.
hahahaha, see told you! Now every place in Kuwait which wants customers has to go through you 🙂
hopefully other diet food places or else i am going to have a problem lol
no problem, just send the food here.
Do you get nutritional info with it? If not, how do you really know how many calories and fat grams are in what you are eating??
hmm I would have hoped the restaurant included more ‘cooked’ food.
It seems that your review for Hard Rock Caffe’ is so bad; or they didn’t send you enough free food.
It will be interesting to know your comments on HRC.
i havent reviewed Hard Rock Cafe but if I would they would end up with a 2/5. There food really sucks…
Really I like your way to build this reviews, and I will be happy to see your opinion about HRC.
I couldn’t tell If I was eating the chicken strips or mozeralla sticks at HRC. There food is honestly the worst I have experienced in Kuwait.
All i have to say that the brownies and cookies that they get from J’s Bakery are the best luscious brownies and cookies i ever tasted!!! their reduced fat and are not thick at all!!
What’s thier Website?
PLease…I want to knw their WebSite ASAP:P!…!! They say that they have the calories listred there!!
hey now they list the calories, fat content, protein content AND carb content in their menus! so wat r ya talking about?
I had a really terrible experience with LOfat today and i’m surprised that they are still in business and i wonder if people consider ordering from their menu a second time. I’ve posted my experience here https://marshmellowbites.wordpress.com/2008/07/01/lofat-disaster/
Interestingly, I found out about LoFat last week (I’m not a regular here, so I didn’t read your review before now). And now that I read your review, I feel it requires an update! Not only does their menu now have all the nutritional content and calories listed, but also, their cookies are now 350 fils! Seems they took your review and suggestions seriously.
Just had lo fat, its getting more and more yummy each year, moreover, the food variety has gotten bigger and bigger.
My order is 2 hours late for the second time after explaining for 5 mins that i want a cheese and mushroom pizza . I asked to speak to a manager they said no manager is available so they gave me his cell number MR. Ehab who did not answer after 3 attempts of calling him. I am done with them
I would like to comment about the very unprofessional experience I had with lofat. I had previously been with similar diet company and decided to change to lofat after ordering take away from them. The pizza was unbelievably tasty and brownie was similarly good! I decided to join and set up an appointment and was looking forward to losing a bit of weight, as I had piled up those winter pounds!
I was assigned a dietician, I explained my lifestyle and my previous diet programmes and eating habits, explaining that my work schedule did not allow me time to see my kids let alone go for a 45min walk!. I felt that she was very pushy didn’t encourage me at all, I felt rushed out to choose form the menu. Never the less I went into the waiting room looking down at the menu thinking, I need help! I don’t know what to choose, I needed guidance on what was good and what was not, and chose randomly food I generally like.
Within the first 2 weeks I was a very, very disappointed costumer! I felt the portions were far to small, I also received on a number of occasions uncooked food, this included rice, lentils and potatoes, and what made me reach the last straw was when I found a hair in my salad!
I tried calling but the number that was given was automated and I was not given my dieticians number, and as I had already mentioned I’m very much tied up at work and don’t have time to sit and wait and listen to an automated service! So on my next appointment I mentioned these issues to my dietician, which did not seem concerned, and was more concerned about the fact I didn’t not make time for a half hour walk! She told me I should report my complaints to the receptionist. Very annoyed by her very unprofessional attitude, and the fact that I only lost about a kilo (that was probably from not eating their food!) I went to the receptionist. She was more helpful and explained that she was going to inform management and will no doubted will get some kind of compensation, and that this was not acceptable.
I didn’t hear from management until I sent a message replay to their text advertisement! Management then called me to tell me that I was the only customer with this complaint and because I didn’t not immediately call when I had found the hair/ uncooked food (I mean how could I? most of the time I was eating the food over my keyboard at work) and so they could only offer me 1 day compensation!
I didn’t not take their compensation; and was very upset with the way i can not end this with a happy ending and thought I would share this unsatisfactory experience with lofat with you. Some people have lost weight with them, but from what I experience it was probably guess it was from the low quality food, their own dedication and not lofats unprofessional standards!
I would have to give lofat a big thumb down, and would not even recommend it to people I dislike!
i will post this comment on all lofat reviews and blogs until my voice is heard!
Guys, i worked in this LOFAT company for a long period of time. i agree that you wouldn’t get any nutrition info or calories amount on the product incase if you get it. it wouldn’t be true because they do purchase there daily kitchen requirement from local market and believe me there is nothing nothing low fat in it. Full fat mayao, Americana Hotdogs, sausages, mustard and etc to name a few all are full fat it just the brown bread which makes the whole meal low fat:))))))). Such companies are making fool out of us
