Last week while coming home from the airport, I tried to exit the 50th to the 5th Ring Road but I missed the exit. It didn’t make sense how I missed it but I somehow did. A few days later I picked up Nat from the airport and was again trying to take the 5th Ring Road exit and I ended up missing it for a second time.
Turns out they’ve closed the original exit and created a new one around 2KM earlier than before. There are no signs pointing to the new exit but whats more confusing is why does the current exit start so early and consist of 3 lanes that run parallel to the 4 lane highway. Weird. [YouTube]
Update: According to a reader this newly created exit has actually helped lessen the morning traffic. Previously it used to take him 45-60 minutes to get to work and now it takes 25 tops.

Actually there is a sign, a very tiny one, in yellow with font size 20 i guess… Weird how a sign is in Yellow color in a country that is full of dust… dahhhhh
yup spotted it today, you can see it in the video at 0:06
super tiny font size
less traffic ?
The Traffic department, in their Infinite wisdom, thought that It was making too much sense to have a major intersection occur where it was supposed to, so they had to change it.
And they’re still talking about the bridge to nowhere (Jisr Jaber) and the mythical Camelot [ Silk city]

It actually helped in lessen the traffic in the morning. Usually it takes me 45-60 min to get to work, now its only 25 min max!
oh thats pretty interesting. driving by when its empty it looks a bit ridicules but i guess it makes a difference during rush hour.
Its taking you less time to get to work because everyone keeps missing the exit. Once they figure it out, it’ll take you over an hour
Nah the exit was in a crappy place, everyone dogpiled to get in so if you were coming from 6th trying to get through you had to squeeze in with them. It sucked
so true.
Ohh I was wondering why they blocked it. When did they block it? If it made a big difference I’ll start taking 50.
What car were you driving? Wrangler :D?
My fj
mark, where is the musssssssssssic :'(
Lol it’s like a 1 minute video of the new 5th ring road exit, couldn’t find music to fit that
I think this would be appropriate for any driving video in Kuwait. xD

It happened with me also. I missed the exit 3 times and never got it. I think they should put some signs ASAP so that people dont end up increasing the traffic of 4th ring
i missed the exit 2 times !! ughhh and i was super late !! I HATE IT !
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Dunno how no-one noticed.
You took the exit 2km before the turn alright, but right in the end (1:28), you turned left towards Jahra instead of right towards Salmiya.
Mark, I have a GPS for sale. 5 bucks just for you.
I wasn’t heading to Salmiya
That’s how you get to Shuwaikh…
Mark, actually there are small Yellow colored signs saying Exit to 5th Ring Road, 500m, then 400m, then 300m like this……usually everyone omits it….thats all:-)
Get used to it Mark, that is going to be a 5 yr project.
The people that are responsible for the signage on Kuwait roads should be fired. The worst signage I have ever seen!
Based on the signage it is easier to assume nobody is responsible for it
I think the yellow signs are temporary, since it is not completed yet(You can still see signs “work area” and red cones). Once everything is done and when they remove all those red plastic cones, they might put up a big sign showing the exit.
Missed it twice, got the new exit last time…
Thanks for the tip Mark- coming home on Friday- could have ended up driving around endlessly looking for the way home……nightmare…..
its not weird, its called..DUMB
What camera/phone are you using to record? Quality looks great!
