My Tamiya FJ Cruiser CR-01… done!

It’s been nearly a month since I got my Tamiya FJ and just a few moments ago I finished building it. It took some time because I had to paint the body and ended up messing up the job, I then had to wait for the motor and electronic speed controller to arrive from the States and finally tonight I just had to source one more small part locally and get some wires soldered onto the motor. I’m now done with it, I tidied up all the wiring and my FJ is finally ready for a crawling session. I missed out on one last Friday because my car wasn’t ready but this Friday I am going and will take some pictures once I do.

Update: Here is a picture I took this morning

hehe yeah on my way to work. i stopped by next to mcdonalds, there was an old kuwaiti guy sitting on a bench listening to oum kalthoum on a small fm radio while i was playing on the rocks with my FJ. Then picked up pancakes and headed to work.

Cooool i’ll meet you one day :), about the music hmmm I will not gona add more music in my upcoming Clips :). Thanks

Yousuf there is a HUGE range in prices. The CR-01 is the most expensive car I’ve got. So I will give you the price of how much I paid but this shouldn’t be used as a benchmark since you could get the same car running for less or more or get a completely different car for half the price. For example the CR-01 comes with a motor but i bought a different one. It comes with shock dampers but i bought different ones. The CR-01 kit cost me KD95 while my Lancia cost me like KD35. It really varies. Anyway here is my costs so far:

CR-01 Kit: KD95
Two Futaba S3305 Servos: KD24
Futaba AM Receiver: KD10
AM Crystal: KD2
3Racing Shock Dampers: KD9.5
3Racing aluminum shafts: KD6 (i think)
Novak 45T Motor with Rooster Crawler ESC: $110 (without shipping)
Paint: KD7

and I think thats everything. You would need a battery if you dont have one, a radio controller and a battery charger.

Amazing Mark,
Considering Lancia cannot do offroad it is not what i want. Now KWD 95 is not something on my budget but i would like to have a car which is race ready in say KD 50 (i am new to this and really like it).

Can i get semi off road for that price if not full off-road?

Yousef I can’t think of anyway u can do that. If u order from amazon u might be able to get a readyto race and built Tamiya grasshoper for kd60. U would still then need to pay for shipping and u need a battery charger which is at least kd15…
