New camera?

A reader of the blog called Pete took this picture of what looks like a new radar camera here in Kuwait. I’ve never see one these before so not really sure what it is. Here is the original link to this shot [Link]

I believe these comes in pairs, instead of just measuring the speed at the time the car passes this camera, it also tales the time, so when the car passes the next camera about 1 km away, it takes the time again, and measures the average speed…

So basically, you have to drive below the speed limit all the way between the two cameras…

I hope its not that kind!!!!!

Sheesh!! these fricking cameras are here now ?? fucking machine takes the average speed between cameras and then fines your ass. You can find dozens of them on the Dubai Abu Dhabi expressway

toni .. any sources you have about the clk cars ? its clk not kia u know ..

As I said yesterday about the camera .. I like it .. even more this time .

when it comes to money specialy for people who dont own a car in there home .. EVERYONE will slow down there fucking speed .

These camera’s are like the ones in UAE they take your speed each time you pass by there must be not only one so when you reach the other one if you reached it faster it will take a picture even if you are not driving 120km/h it knows that you speeded up a little bit so

i call these the smart camera’s at least the ones in UAE 😛

yeah will use that to test out the passport if they end up lending me one for a review. people should actually give me stuff to review and not lend. Then when i am done with the review i could setup a draw and a reader could win it.

LOOOOOOOOOOL … am dead cause of these cameras !!
i got am email about them a month ago ,,, and foreword it to all my friends ,,, no one believed me at that time XD
also … i saw the CLK … !
there’s the new double lenses camera in king fahad roud ,, right after subah al-salem bridge ,, it was set on fire yesterday ,,, i toke a picture of it and going to post it today night after i get back home !
no one can speed anymore in Kuwait .,,, unless they did what i did !

i bought the “flip” thingy that was on the old caprice (maybe 1995 model)… the one that you flip to get to the gas door … and fit it in your car ,,, flip the plates and cover the number that located right in front of the stirring wheel ,,, and pass by them doing 280km\h …. i do it all the time !
it won’t cost you 10 KD’s .. buy it from “scrap” .. and do it your self … i won’t take more than 20 min’s !!
hehehe (sinful eye’s ,,, ideas for better life XD )

toni ..

Thanks for the info .. I have seen some of these cars in the borders also but surely not clk .

Havnt they thought of steeling these cars by some afghani or bangali aliens ?

wi-fi
there’s an Egyptian dude in these cars ,,, always sleeping ,, some times reading a newspaper !!
i’ve stopped so many times to see if the (camera-car) is left alone or not ,,, and every time i see some guy sleeping in the car !!
(i didn’t think of burning it ,,,, who gave you that idea ? XD) (6)

Mark,

Yes these are the same cameras they have fitted all over Dubai and it is impossible to beat them. If the speed limit is say 100 kpm then when u pass from 1 camera to the other it actually calculates that how much time it would take u to reach the other 1 as per default speed and actual speed and it the actual is more then there u go a ticket in your account. Technology is fast catching up.

OMG….why do people post without reading 🙂
3 more posted what these cameras were about, although it was explained in the beginning 🙂

To avoid these cameras without reducing speed .. just get the license plate reflector covers or spray.

The camera will compare every two consequent photos taken to detect the same car that is over speeding. Once detected the plate number is identified.

with the reflector they cant identify shit !

If your car breaks down between the cameras and later you set off again, will they fine you for driving too slow when passing the second camera?

They need to put these cameras out on Fahaheel Expressway between Fahaheel and Arifjan to slow down my fellow American contractors that are runnin 160 and above! You know who you are ie: Chevy Caprice SS’s and COMPANY LEASED CARS(CSA & ITT)These FUCKERS race to work to get a parking spot and on the bus to get inside the camp! It doesn’t take long for the Kuwaiti influence to rub off on others, MONKEY SEE MONKEY DO!

Heartbeat – You’ve missed the point. These cameras don’t ‘flash’ at you, so reflective sprays and coatings don’t work. They use digital video recording continuously, with IR at night.
I have a friend in the UK who works with a similar system there. It uses recognition software similar to the facial recognition stuff that Vegas casinos use. In these cameras, it is used to recognise the number plate, (or license plate if you’re American,) and the basic features of the front/back of the car.
It is also used by the UK authorities to detect cars that are uninsured against a national database.
According to him, the best way to deceive these cameras is to attach patterned pieces of cloth around the number plate. As they flap about in the wind, they ‘change’ the distinguishing features of the car and prevent the second camera from matching it with the first one…. but you will look like a complete idiot!
In my opinion, the easiest way to avoid being caught on one of these is to drive within the speed limit.

You’re wrong Mark, the purpose of these cameras is to make easy money for the govt. That is ALL they are good for.

I, for one, welcome our speed controlling overlords.

Hopefully, this will “drive” some sense in our drivers and the roads will end up being a little more safer.

Cajie, I hope so too but I dont think a speed demon in a spiffy Italian sports car is gonna be bothered about things like a 20 or 50 KD fine, or for that matter the little boy racers who race stolen cars in the Jleeb area.

people are already driving slow and now they will be towing there cars on road …….fuk dem :P~~~~~~~~~~~

Mathai,
Well, I did say a “little more” safer. I have no illusions of Kuwait roads being completely safe.
I was reading this interesting article about Norway or Sweden – where they fine you as a percentage of your salary (I think 1 week salary). A millionaire recently got a speeding ticket for something like $500,000.
Kuwait should implement something like that!!!

If traffic fines aren’t going to stop these idiots then they need to impound their cars!!!!!!! And keep impounding their cars till they run out of MONEY!!!! Serves those rich fuckers right!!!!

They need to have harsher penalties because when they LEGALLIZE ALCOHOL, because you know they will sooner or later, they will have to show these dumbasses they mean business when it comes to vehicle safety! FACE IT YOU HARDLINERS, LEGALLIZING ALCOHOL WILL HAPPEN IN THIS COUNTRY WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT!

not sure if this is a stupid questiion…but can the GPS systems detect these cameras from a distance away??

Why are all you @%&! idiots so intent on breaking the speed limit? Don’t tell me…Your EGO? Have you ever thought that you might just end up wiping out an entire family with your stupid actions? Just stay within the speed limit then you idiots don’t have to burn our your pea braincells trying to come up with ways not to get caught.Assholes ( ).( )

I just noticed those damned dual sided cameras a week ago… on the Fahaheel Expy. However, not all cams are dual sided; and the dual-sided cams always get you from behind.

I’m not a 100% sure that the backs of these dual sided cams actually work. They could be dummy lens plates stuck on the back of a regular cam. But the CLK cams are news to me. Wow!

These cameras are just plain fancy-looking cameras. Someone started the rumor about them saving and calculating your speed and all that, but the don’t really do anything except flash you once you cross the speed limit (Yes they do flash, i got caught twice with these). They are just harder to spot at night and have the dual side ability. On Sh.Zayed road, in dubai, there’s one almost every 800m-1000m, if they did calculate your speed, there wouldn’t be a need for one every kilometer.

The ones with digital video recording and IR that actually do the calculation are different looking, they look like a big striped tube from top to bottom and there are only 2 currently in Dubai being tested, which are on Al Khail road.
