New devices on the Ghazali Bridge

A reader emailed me yesterday telling me that they had installed strange new devices on the Ghazali Bridge (RD 60) and today another reader emailed me pictures of the actual devices. They don’t look like speed detectors to me, does anyone know what they do?

Thanks Babar

Update: This most probably is a non-intrusive detector that records vehicle count and then wirelessly transmits the data. [Link]

there is, it just ends near 5th Ring Entrance 🙂 i used to use it then i hated myself for it 😡

It’s true. They track bloggers! My cousin told me and he works for the M.O.I.G.T.G.Y.S. (Ministry of I’m Goin’ To Get You Sucka’.

The top devices are defo PtP Microwave links. The ones on the lower end maybe indeed the non intrusive detectors.
Make shift set up too..

One of the device made by the company is HI-TRAC BLUE.

“The HI-TRAC BLUE reads the unique MAC address of Bluetooth devices that are passing the system. Bluetooth devices include mobile phones, PDA’s, hand-free kits, GPS onboard units, laptops, etc.”

Sounds creepy and Orwellian.

It looks like wireless hotspot for free wireless interenet connectivity while ur driving 😛 just kidding lolz

maybe its the new speed device they talked about like 4 months ago ?
it’s like take a shot of EVERY car moving by the entrance and take a picture again after few kilos

if the time between the two pictures is less than XX seconds means you are speeding

this forces you to drive 120 all the time, not ONLY near the camera

The top pic is of a Wireless Antenna for Point to Point connectivity and bottom one is the housing for the power injector of the antenna…Chillax…Speed cam don’t look that ugly these days!!!

Traffic measurement system, outdoor suppliers and research firms finally got granted the license to measure traffic for advertising effectiveness. Glad we are joining the world in 2011. Better late than never I guess.

I heard this detects cars with specific timings from different locations and they calculate the time to see if they passed it. If they did, that means they were speeding; if not then they were driving at the ‘normal’ speed.
