This amazing and rare footage was shot with an 8mm camera back in the late 60’s early 70’s here in Kuwait. I think Kuwait looked better back then, I mean we had white picket fences! (Ignore the last minute of the video since that’s Lebanon not Kuwait) [YouTube]

Good old sports day! How come the men were wearing winter dishdasha’s but the kids were in shorts? Hot winter day, I guess! :oP
If you are interested in kuwait’s history from the 1960s then you should checkout this short documentary:

Nabil,
You study at this school, as in right now?
Would you happen to be a ghost?
Arguably the best school in Kuwait, then and now.
I can’t believe how short the skirts were! Cool!
That building is actually still there, I live nearby. People actually live there, it’s owned by a Sheikh (I think) but is leased out to some other family.
Amazing footage ! and well the fashion seems to be similar to our times ! and yes love the white picket fences.
Mark looks cute on the Trike, Didnt realize Marzoq and Essa were older than you Mark!
Am I the only one that can’t view the vid. All I see is a blank screen, though I can hear the music!!
I have family video on 8mm reels laying around which I bet would have some similar footage of Kuwait in the 70’s, but I haven’t figured a way to view or convert them!!! anyone knows of a local shop that does that?
I can’t see anything too but can hear music =|
White picket fence are gorgeous. I miss ours. How I wish they don’t ban it here but they do =(
