McDonalds purportedly will remain in the dirty rundown parking lot, I have never seen that in any airport in the world. McDonalds is in every food court after emigration. I will check out this on Wednesday and can report back to you. Potbelly’s is not doing well in Terminal 1 in Dubai, for some reason, people prefer McDonalds, nor is it doing well in the Dubai Mall, However, I suspect that it will do well in this cafe because of the lack of options. I give a SHOUT_OUT to adding Starbucks to this cafe! I was tired of the horrible coffee at the Coffee Bean. Al-Shaya please start a low-budget carrier and do your own terminal with all your franchises in it, outside this terminal? The new airport won’t be built for over 7 years if their lucky or even approve it. Take over Sheikh Saad terminal with your carrier….pritty please.

@QEIGHT : What airport puts McDonalds in a back parking lot mainly for the use of airport employees? McDonalds is suppose to be for the use of passengers. A major issue I have with this airport is that this airport doe not function for passengers, but for the airport staff. Who does this in the world? Really? Totally mismanaged airport!

@terror – I agree with your points, but this seems to be a positvie move for this airport. I much prefer Starbucks to Coffee Bean! As far as eating soup in this airport,,,,ahhhhh,,,,no. I do love Potbelly’s in Chicago and I have eaten in the one in Terminal 1 Dubai – it is also a nice addition to their food court.

Just in time for my trip home! Humdullah!

Was also getting sick of coffee bean! Bring in Caribou…..pass the screening check point please.

This is what should happen. Due to the fact that the new airport will not be completed, ahhh for about 7 years, this airport which can no longer handle the passenger levels, should be overhauled. You now must loose the upper mall area, move immigration forward expand the immigration installed E-gate, and install check-in desks and upgrage the airport infrastructure, xray machines, luggage belts and the air traffic control room/radar equipment to make this air port compliant with icao. Then I move some of the franchises forward after immigration ie Debanhams, maybe Caribou coffee. Where Debanhams is now will be the new Kuwait Airways check-in area with a direct access to a special KA business class lounge with their own E-gate/immigration area. Although it is a failing carrier it is the national carrier. I would also have employees with shirts that say ‘May I help you?” to assist the millions of sub-continent workers who have trouble finding their gates, in fact I would have a separate immigration area for processing new visa’s. Need anything else, Kuwait?

I thought tick-it was going to be a watch store!
I don’t get why they opened a starbucks and a pinkberry! both are located in the first part of the airport!

Kinda silly to have one Pinkberry before immigration and one after immigration. How much Pinkberry can a guy eat?

I’m surprised PB is still getting customers. I guess the whole frozen yogurt fad is not yet over.

Wow exciting

I guess that 65 McDonald’s isn’t already enough eh?

How about building an infrastructure and economic reform plan now Kuwait?

We will all be dead and buried by the time they build the new airport. They can’t even decide what to do about Kuwait Airways failing state. We keep hearing and reading about privatization plans but that’s been going on now for years. Bottom line: Nothing will change anytime soon.

If only books could someday become the next Habba in Kuwait after Pinkberry, flying to Dubai for the weekend or cruising the town on a Sunday evening…..

For now a W H Smith or a Barnes & Noble would be too much for the asking, I suppose!

Someday Kuwait will be ready for the A380, the Queen Mary to berth or who knows, even Burj-el Arab or Emirates Palace style hotels. But there’s one thing Kuwait ain’t never be ready for which is books, periodicals and good quality magazines.
