New Gulf Road Speed Cameras

Recently they’ve started putting up new speed cameras on the Gulf Road. They’ve started installing cameras in new locations and they’ve also started replacing some old cameras including the red light cameras and speed cameras with newer models. The new cameras differ from the older ones in that the radar, flash and camera are no longer located all together in one housing (like this) but instead divided into two separate pieces. Currently the large box housing (better pictures below) doesn’t have any openings in the front but I am guessing that’s because the system is still being set up and installed. Judging by the pictures on the manufacturers website, the housing called the TraffiTower can hold all the systems internally including the camera so not sure why they’re installing the camera separately. Also I am guessing there must be something new, a new feature that previously wasn’t available that they will be installing in the housing or else why would they replace the reliable and practical single housing units? I took a few pictures of the new speed cameras which you can check out above and below.

F-Me in the heart. I’ve already taken a second mortgage on the villa in Mexico to pay for my speeding tickets in Kuwait.

I need some Bond car rotating plates… Or that reflective spray paint… I saw the infomercial on TV, it HAS to work…

Man.. They don’t care about anyones safety.. That’s the problem.. They will not go to school and university and teach people about safe driving.. As a matter of fact they want everyone to stay reckless.. All they care for is money.. That’s so sad.. Peoples life should be te priority.. But I guess the money is too good..

they could be point to point cameras… and thank god these only fine you for speeding

google ‘ASSET Speed Cameras’ to see what they are testing for the future… these cameras will make lots of “ching ching”… if you dont feel like googling, these new cameras will be able to fine you for 5 offences from a single shot

In Doha it is the sub-woofer looking BOX that is the camera, and they don’t have the poley things, so be warned!!

But really, wouldn’t this all work a lot better if the principal offenders were no longer able to call their friends in the Police Dept. and get things ‘smoothed’…? I know, I know….

shit ๐Ÿ˜›

in the old days while speeding in a ridiculous way, if u spot a camera u just speed up to 270 and everything will be fine (the camera won’t take a clear pic)

now with these new ones i think it goes up to 310 or something

Thanks mark for the post/update !!

As soon as I find out what these cameras do, I will update you guys! Have a friend in the traffic department.

What about the cameras near Anjefa beach? i used to drive fast in this road but they look more than a security cameras, looks like there is a radar above each tall camera! Any idea?

There is a rumor say that they can take your speed from a long distance so drivers who apply breaks before the camera and reduce speed will be captured!!

They should put more and more..
when they learn who to drive then they can remove it.

when am driving in Kuwait streets its like am in racing track.. what the hell is goin on in the country..

in Oman in the the high ways. every 5 kilome there is camera speed. so no time to speed up..
nshala they make Kuwait same every one kilom one camera.. u want to speed up.. u can go and speed up in racing track not on the street !!!!!! CRAZY PPL

They just need to educate people.
Speed doesn’t kill. Hitting things at speed does.
Learn how to drive safely at speed and everyone’s happy. Ask the Germans…

Oh, and stop giving driving licences out in cereal packets!

The problem is not the speed, it is how you drive and how you follow the rules!

I used to drive in Europe, I have never did anything wrong, why? because the speed limit in their motorways is 130kmph (and unlimited in most of the Autobahn) it is only two lane and curvy not to mention the rain or the snow. in the mountain roads with only one lane the limit is 100kmph. Here with big 3 lane roads and two emergency lanes some places are limited to 80kmph !!!!
In addition to the better speed limits, the people respect the rules and it is almost impossible to see some one breaks the rules unlike here in kuwait.
The rules are simple but people are stupid, no overtake from the right side, no tailgating, no hi-beam flash, look signal then change lane if possible, slower traffic always on the right, no slow traffic on the middle or left, always take the right lane if is empty even if you do 320kmph, etc..

I was just riding my bike and it was like driving a trailer! I can’t even pass cars because of the new cameras and radars. I will take some shots to sent them to Mark.

Everyone knows speeding isn’t the cause of accident, it’s just a factor that makes an accident lethal.

The best solution is stop giving license to people without proper test some people don’t even know how to do a parallel park and they still get it.

Countries with less accident get the license in a year and 6 month that’s the fastest in kuwait you can get it in 1 days :p

How do you expect roads to be safe.

Like speeding is the only problems on the roads. How about big time fines for parents who don’t buckle up their kids. Or worse parents who have infants on their laps!

Hi mark,

Just to update you that recently the Radar Station which is housed on Ground has been Stacked up… Not sure what purpose that serves…..I have clicked a pic yet…

Hi mark,

Just to update you that recently the Radar Station which is housed on Ground has been Stacked up with another similar. Not sure what purpose that serves…..I havent clicked a pic yet as i observed it in evening…

According to what I heard, guess what this camera is capable of, lol you know when people drive fast and once they reach the camera the slow down then they drive fast again after they get past, this new camera can detect you from miles away and can detect the drivers who drive fast and slow down when they reach it, not really sure but I think it’s true !
