Nightclub in Kuwait disguised as tent

This mini club was found inside what looks like an ordinary tent from the outside. Pretty cool. [YouTube]

LOL @ the Johnny Walker sponsorship!

But seriously Mark… I know this looks like an interesting video to post on the blog, but think of the consequences: Now you’ll have all kinds of hypocrites up in arms over this sign of “moral decline”… and the few people who want to have a good time away from prying eyes and without bothering anyone will now get in trouble

Because we all know our law enforcement’s top priority is snuffing out fun wherever it can be had… instead of preventing car races and multiple deaths

Bu Yousef… thats because it is mark who uploaded the video!

Haha I love how they’re closing coffee shops because of the bad stuff going on…and they have no idea about this!

thats sure a splendid idea, sij il mathal ile yigoul il 7aja um il ikhtira3 LoooL, who would have thought of a remote underground tent disguised night club. Rock on !!!

Yes it is good that you tell us and show us the video, good for those who thought of it but I am sure that you have people who want to impose their extreme Islamic mind on others… and will use this video to help make Kuwait look like a Taliban country. Freedom of life is holding on a thin line in Kuwait.

People who say Kuwait is a strict country then let them come and watch this!! U revealed one of a million things going on with in this country and they say that u cant do this and u cant do that.. well hell no, people if they wana do wrong/right they can do it anywhere and anytime..

my question is how do they block the sound from escaping? It does not seem that it is sound proof.

Also, is this place busted or what?

the last part of the video made like o.o’

nothing is near it, though i had an idea it was a lady 3irs but its not since that wine company was there.

And that add from a money to an walking man, I saw them ALOT ALOT in Bahrain bars

I’ve been in a similar party a while ago and it was gr8 but the only difference that the one I went to was fully underground with a tent over it and if you walk in u’ll see a normal tent (underground door was available and sound proof was installed amazing! ah and u can’t take in any cameras or mobiles! and from the look of this video now i know why lol.. Mark I’m an old blogger but I had to enter in a diferent name.. you shouldn’t publish this kind of videos (ur blog is monitored!) and for the cops the tents are only installed in the outdoor season 😀 too late

lol well I assure u that you just made our life 1% worst then before.. u know that there is parties of all kind in kuwait but as usual u have to know the right people..

@ Gi99a.Where else could this possibly be except Saudi, which I doubt. It can only be in Kuwait where they’ll go to such extremes for entertainment. It looks like those ‘Super Nightclubs’ you see in some Middle Eastern countries, for those of you who know what I’m talking about. So is it only open on weekends and can I take my own booze?Anyone?

Just goes to show…if people want have a good time nothing can stop them…it’s human nature to rejoice and celebrate and it has been happening since the beginning of time.

What about all the cars that will be parked around the tent, it will surely look like there’s something going on. Plus CID has moles dressed up as “cool” party goers whose sole aim in life is spoiling peoples lives. And I guarantee that this place will not only shut down, but a lot of innocent, party goers will get in a lot of legal shit because of it! It only takes one phone call from one guy who stares at another guy’s girl the wrong way and bam, it’s all over!

Why can’t Kuwait be like Iraq, UAE and Bahrain? Is it that difficult for the Kuwaiti people to see the social difference and finally decide that it’s time to evolve?

The fact that someone says a tent out in the middle of BFNW is amazing is sad.. Kuwait has such potential. What a waste it doesn’t want to give it’s citzens freewill.

Desertgirl.By your comments I take it you WANT everyone harassing you about where this party took place and where the next one will be.Like Haterhaute commented:”It’s both amazing and sad”

LOL it reminded me of men in black movie where they had a whole alien organization under an innocent looking building !
Innovative !!

It’s amazing how of the >50 comments only one looks at this incident from another perspective (Othman), I guess it speaks of the type of people reading this blog, who I believe do not represent the majority of Kuwaitis. Though many agree with zaydoun, I don’t.
If someone is having a party in his OWN basement where his sisters and cousins are dancing, then fine… that’s his own business. But to use a land that he doesn’t own to spread vice germs or for a purpose that’s against the law and the majority of people do not agree upon, then there is nothing about freedom or privacy that should be granted.
If he wanna do such stuff, let him do it outside of Kuwait. For us, we want to keep our lovely country clean and high in moral values.

tara i7na ga3deen ib kuwait, moo amreeka…if u want this stuff, then go to dubai or the states or where ever, but when you bring it here, it just destroys a country. gilna we want to be free, but we dont want to have corruption, and dont give me all that stuff about how corruption already exists, if it already exisits, then we shouldnt be adding onto it, we should be demolishing it. i agree with Othman, are any of the Kuwaitis commenting here actually Muslim? because if you are, then no way would you be saying this. I’m not against partying, have fun and all, but we shouldn’t have people be opening night clubs and what not, have it at your own homes but it shouldnt be a public place. now your going to talk about islamic extremists and taliban and all that, well we don’t have to be too islamic, but there should be some borders between whats right and wrong, and this kind of stuff is wrong.

Its funny how a lot of people keep talking about freewill. Well imo i see a lot crashes in kuwait EVERYDAY w/o alcohol being legal. Add alcohol and it’ll be chaos in the streets. If you open your eyes and see how the majority of kuwaities live you’ll know that we’re just not ready yet for this. And btw the person who did this had to be REALLY connected and REALLY rich probably one of the top ten families here in kuwait. Thats why the cops probably turn a blind eye.

Meshari: Are you saying that UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Algeria, Morocco, Tunis etc. are dirty countries with low moral values? Also, are you saying that in US military camps that are publicly and legitimately spread on Kuwaiti land…alcohol is not consumed?

Noorah: CHOICE. People should at least have the right to choose to socialize in a bar or choose to socialize in a gahwa or diwaniya and drink coffee and tea.

qster: You are absolutely wrong, readiness has nothing to do with nothing because alcohol is already available and consumed. Was Kuwait ready for a female member of parliament? Was it ready for mix gender malls?

@Zaydoun

So drinking and fornicating with women … most you might don’t even know … (not to mention drugs could be involved)…

is “fun” for you?

il 3arbida wil sarsara sarat FUN?

wani3ma bil tarbiya…!

@Exile

1. Dont use the “because everyone is doing its right” argument … the bandwagon convention. Yes its wrong … and What the U.S. is doing is similar to the law governing embassies, where the ground they are on .. tends to have ‘special immunity’.. and by the way …

FYI … dont want to bust your bubble but there is a law coming soon to forbid drinking whats so ever in those embassies or even on any kuwaiti land .. 🙂

2. CHOICE is allowed for things that don’t cause damage to others or society. If someone goes around killing people .. cuz its his or her choice.. that’s WRONG. In our society this stuff is WRONG.. why? simple because we are Muslims and we would like to adhere to a higher plateau of MORAL VALUES.. drinking and trying to get with women is never seen as morally acceptable only when a majority who is corrupt accept it 🙂 cause in point the comments on this post…

3. again humans change.. real moral values dont,
Gays and lesbians were deemed to be mentally diseased.. as it is stated in the DSM which is the bible for psychologist in diagonsing mental illinesses. It was taken out by lobbying by GLAAD the movement for gays and lesbian rights, not because it was found NOT TO BE A DISEASE.

I’m Muslim but not a religious man, I see many hypocrites and extremist that have given Islam a bad taste for me. However banning parties in Kuwait would kill the opportunity for people to relax and connect with each other in a fun place. Yet I do strongly agree about banning drinking in Kuwait, I studied in the states and most of my friends drink and I saw first hand how destructive alcohol addiction can be, totally destroying people future and in many case putting peoples lives at risk. What is the benefit of drinking; forgetting ones troubles (they are still there after you wake up in your own vomit and you properly made it worse in the process) picking up girls ( if you need to get a girl half unconscious and do not remember you the next day, I call that rape , not something to be happy about)
I know some will come back saying I’m going for the extreme cases, when you see one extreme case that is enough. When people get together with music and dancing, truly having fun sober that is a happy memory that will stay with you for the rest of your life ( that is a hundred times better than getting drunk and can’t recalling what happened or worse doing something when you are in drunk that forever affects your life or others and not being able to take it back)

jeez everyone take a chill pill and relax, it’s just a dumb little night club/bar in a tent in the middle of nowhere

Talal, you can’t have a night club without *at least* drinking. Hence why I highly oppose those who want this stuff in Kuwait.

Someone previously mentioned that we are now in the 21st century. Please answer me, what exactly does that mean? Are you saying that night clubs, drinking, etc. should now be okay? Does that make us modern? Is there like a deadline where if we pass the 21st then it’s all cool and dandy? Does that make those who lived in earlier centuries uncivilized? Answer me this, if the US banned alcohol like it did the early 20th century due to the fact that it’s destructive to the body and mind and more importantly goes againts the teachings of all 3 religions, are you gonna say it should be banned in Kuwait now?

You don’t have to answer them all, just pick one…

Drinking is dangerous indeed. I personally know people who have died of kidney failure after years of alcohol abuse.

On the other hand, there’s nothing like going to a pub after a long day of work and having an ice cold crisp beer.

Othman: When the US banned alcohol (prohibition) it was not for health or religious reasons…it was a scheme designed and enforced by the Italian mafia so as to profit more from monopolizing and selling alcohol in the black market rather than selling it openly and legally……

A bottle of drink bought legally at a liquor store would cost $20 while a bottle of drink in the black market costs $200. Go figure.

Othman, I notice you referred to the USA’s banning of alcohol in the 1930s. That is considered by almost everybody as a huge failure. It led to the Mafia.

Kuwait used to have bars in the hotels. Back then at least, people were more civilized and mature.

Today it might be “forbidden”, but there certainly is a larger alcohol problem today in Kuwait than there has ever been. It’s mainly because of the decline of proper upbringing. Spoiled people with no self control living in a very hypocritical society. The snobs who think Kuwait is really morally superior to the US should really take a honest look at their own country.

Exile, I understand the reasons as to why the prohibition act was introduced, I was merely suggesting a different reason for prohibition.

we need to have clubs. there is nothing wrong with guys interacting with girls. but we dont have that in kuwait wich is why we see 3agads and gays in marina and 2 girls being harrased by 15 guys in marina waves. its because they arent used to women, and think that women is something more special and rare than anything else. we should have nightclubs to upgrade our community instead of degrading it. its just people dancing and interacting with each other theres nothing wrong with it. but until we see the majority of kuwait interacting with the opposite sex more often, we will always have 3agads, which i find to be degrading kuwait

Oh and by the way, re ‘Mafia’, check who actually imports most of the black market booze into Kuwait( nudge nudge, wink wink) and you’ll have an idea of why these tent parties have been going on for years and will continue to go on for years to come.

@teach

It led to the rise of the AMERICAN Mafia. Prior to prohibition, Mafia activity and influence in the US was minimal.

In any country demand is met with supply and Kuwait is no exception. These party tents aren’t being brought by the evil Americans who want to corrupt Kuwait. They are being brought here because Kuwaitis and expats want to party.

Simple as that.

WOW!!! Take me there!!

اللي ما يبي يروح، محد جابره

..some people commenting here need to grow up.

thank god that we still have decent muslims !! el 7mdelah i was like shnoo mako moslemeen !! mako gheerah 3la hal derah !! well if any one thinks that such things define us as modern and civilized then plzz let him leave the country and go for more modern and civilized place ! we have to maintain our religion and culture and if any body cant respect that and feels like he wanna have more freedom were he can party all night and drink let him party some where else ! bahrain and dubai are not far from us ! enjoy being trashy ! .. alah yethabetna 3la deena ooo ya7fethna ya raab .. i wounder ppl who seems interested if they were in that party and saw one of their sisters / cousins would that still be cool ? 😉

Readiness HAS EVERYTHING to do with it. Do you ever visit the areas outside of the bubble of 7athary neghborhoods do you go to places like Jahra, Rabya, Jleeb, 9laibeekhat. I live in one of those areas. and the majority of Kuwaitis DONT want alcohol or any thing else like that for that matter. In terms of US bases, they are free to do what they want within THEIR bases i have no problem with that. I am currently in the US and most of the servicemen i meet who have been to kuwait tell me there in NO alcohol in the bases BTW. Me personally i am not religious or strict but i believe Kuwait is Kuwait and the US is the US.

everyone needs to stfu! its sad that people need to go to this extent to have fun! Ive never seen anyone be so amazed and excited about a tent….mo shayfeen!

sad how far people go to accomplish sinful needs.
sad how many commenter’s want in on it.
sad how this shameful video went public and was viewed as an inspiration by many.

what have we become.

teachthemasses & fun: Right on the money.

Qster: “In terms of US bases, they are free to do what they want within THEIR bases i have no problem with that. I am currently in the US and most of the servicemen i meet who have been to kuwait tell me there in NO alcohol in the bases BTW.”

Those bases are on your land! So how are they different than this stupid tent?

bnt blady: I admire your enthusiasm, but your language needs restraint. People who party are not trashy! Ask 80% of the local men in the GCC who party in Lebanese Egyptian and Syrian nightclubs every summer blowing their annual vacation money on belly dancers and………and when they return, they take loans to pay off their due bills! I feel sorry for their wives and children.

I wish people could use their creativity for good benefits in need.. And however comments on my words let him/her show me the good benefits of that!! ugh

Wow talk about a BS fest. A couple of like minded people decide to a have a party and chill out and BOOM the shit hit hits the fan.. Everybody from the holier than thou religious fanatics to policy setters with a historical back ground come out of the wood work to blow their horns…. Seesh its a party.. You aint never gonna get an invite wether you are for it or against it .. So STFUP and move on. This has been going on in Kuwait for Eons so why scream Heaven help us now.

And for the ignorant ones out there who dont know shit. All Embassies and Military bases are governed by diplomatic and military treaties. Wherein its is written that any land held by a country’s diplomatic mission aka emabassy is considered the soverign territory of that country governed by the laws of that country. Any host nation cannot impose laws that go against that country’s law or constitution and expect adherence to that apticular law. The best a host nation can do is ask the country in question to respect its laws and ask their citizens to do the same. Many embassies do not serve alcohol at their parties. Even if they do its to select VIP guests who know how to keep their respect and composure and not any rif raf from the street.
That is why you will find that any national lets say US for instance caught by the loacal authorities drinking is immediately arrested and the emabassy does not interfere. All they do is make sure that he has been given due process which treated humanly and has a legal representative. And if convicted let the Bastard go to prison.
They clearly tell us you drink at your own risk. If you get caught dont expect the emabassy to bail you out. And as for drinking on emabssy grounds as long you dont get stupid and crash into a pole after you exit embassy property you are fine 😉

This video has been spreading so fast lately (bbm, emails, blogs)

kudos to “Security Adviser”

with all respect to you all, so many people in here need to get some philosophy and logic lectures.

“well we don’t have to be too islamic” that was golden. LOL

“with all respect to you all, so many people in here need to get some philosophy and logic lectures.”

Care to elaborate?

1) guys and girls interacting is one, thing,,,they can do that at their house or at the mall or something, you dont need a bar where alcohol is served in order to interact
2)you want to unwind in a bar after work? tikfa what work are you doing thats so hard? all you do is sat at your table telling other people what to do, if you were a zbaal or 3maal or somthing i would understand where your comming from, but even then, thats not an excuse to drink, arent you afraid of ur after life?
3)as for saying were being hypocrites and what not, no were not being hypocrites, part all you want, but dont open up night clubs in kuwait…if u wanna go to a nightclub go to dubai or lebanon
4)wtf does philosophy have to do with anything? min mita 9irna Aristotle? logic lectures? ur saying its logic for people to go out and get wasted? 7amdila wishikir

Love it!

And for all those who says it’s wrong or non-Muslim, please take a look at everything you do in life, I bet you 90% of what you do is unethical, immoral or simply does not follow “Islamic” teachings. For example, your treatment and pay to poor third world country workers? I bet you treat them as something you own rather than human beings. You think you’re superior because of your nationality and money.

You’re used to the wrongs that are everywhere, such as lying and stealing, but this is foreign to you so its more wrong? that’s very hypocritical. People want to have fun in that way, let them! Focus on those who are corrupting Kuwait in bad, bigger, more personal to you way. We had drinks and discos in the 70’s and we were a lot better than we are now. Think about that! A lot of Kuwaiti’s travel to do everything they can’t do here, and because they don’t have it available they do it in such a filthy way. We have far more important things to worry about that people who want to have fun in private.
Also, it’s wrong for the common Joe to have fun, but okay for those with money or status? It’s a joke how this is a big deal when Kuwait’s turning into a hell hole because of being more strict and corruption.

God all of you forgot that weather partying or drinking is a personal choice and that’s it if i am throwing a party or drinking its private no body open it to the public and non of you (wants Kuwait to be clean)are invited just stay in your clean q8 bubble and we will do what we wanna do to our self’s ( personal choice)
and noorah worry about your after life and don’t get into ours

“And for all those who says it’s wrong or non-Muslim, please take a look at everything you do in life, I bet you 90% of what you do is unethical, immoral or simply does not follow “Islamic” teachings. For example, your treatment and pay to poor third world country workers? I bet you treat them as something you own rather than human beings. You think you’re superior because of your nationality and money.”

And exactly how can you make such ridiculous assumptions when you don’t even know who I am?

a) You don’t know me. Stop generalizing and being prejudice.

b) We all have a nationality and money, how exactly does that make you assume that I think I’m superior?

Seriously, drop the prejudice comments. you’re just embarrassing yourself.

how r we being hypocritical? have all the fun you want, but don’t bring it to kuwait! it wud be hypocritical if i said dont have fun and then i went out having fun! brush up on ur vocab before you start throwing words you don’t understand

Noorah don’t tell us weather take it out side Kuwait or not i think you not the only Kuwaiti here and you don’t own Kuwait , so if there is an act you don’t like just don’t do it your self and tell your friends not to , and we can do what ever we want and there is a law if we harm any one were the ones going to get punished not you

dont act like you own kuwait, and dont tell me whether to keep it in kuwait or not, if there is something that you like but can’t do, then go do it somewhere where it is legal

I decided to stop talking about this but now I’m pulled back in!

Noorah: First, it is written as whether not weather. I suggest you do the vocab brushing and while your at it use the spell checker.

Second, the more you talk, the more you prove your conflicting views. “have all the fun you want, but don’t bring it to kuwait!”

Now you don’t want fun in Kuwait?

What is fun in Kuwait? Filthy, overcorwded aqua park? Cruising in super cars down Gulf road chasing girls like a frustrated felines? Spending an hour putting a full face mask before sitting in a chair in a cafe sipping lattes? spending dad’s -sometimes- hard earned money in the mall? Gossiping about how this or that? Eating out in a different restaurant every day of the week (for variety of course)? My answer to all the above questions is no.

Fun starts when people go out of Kuwait. It’s a shame that such a modern, mutli-cultural, clean, organized country has no fun to offer.

You and the people that share your view need to be mature enough to realize CHOICE. You and the people that share your view don’t want to go to a pub, nightclub or disco…simply don’t.

“Noorah: First, it is written as whether not weather. I suggest you do the vocab brushing and while your at it use the spell checker.”

That wasn’t Noorah. Moreover, stop with the spelling comments they’re getting old.

double check your work! getting all excited thinking i made a spelling mistake? go check what i wrote again and then ta3al titfelsef! i said from the beginning that i had nothing against having fun and clubbing but dont bring that clubbing crap to kuwait, there are other ways to have fun besides clubbing, so before you make your comments, make sure you get your facts straight, and if you dont like kuwait so much, no one is forcing you to stay! ithlif no one is begging for you to stay low moo 3ajbik! exactly! choice! i want the choice to live in a safe non drunk country! there are plenty of countries for you to get drunk in! i mean you have the choice to jump off a cliff or shoot the president and what not! it all comes down to whether its the right thing or not!

Shit, this is awesome! I hope nobody finds out about it though! : ( Well, except for me : P I’d love to go! lol

i think you talking about heaven Noorah , and there is a multiple ways you can go straight there ( and i think you don’t have the choice yet to kick out ppl out of Kuwait) or you can just go and live in makkah 😉

int ‘3abi wila ‘3abi? cham mara gitlik im not against having fun? 9ayerli helen killer matshoof? gilt hal izbala bringing drunks to kuwait is an unnecessary type of entertainment…there are other ways to have fun than getting drunk lakin lil asaf you take my words and twist them around inshala you don’t have a hard time processing the stuff i say…tara there is a sylvan learning center, you should check it out

you don’t have to curse to prove your point , is this the way your family raise you that’s you issue not mine , i didn’t manipulate your words you said don’t bring it to Kuwait i tell you its non of your business to control ppls actions and i think mark u should apply some type screening

True story, I live in the USA currently as a student, Today my apartment had 2 lumberworkers hired to cut down some trees in my apartment. I was driving in when i saw them both praying 9alat al 3a9r during their break from work. I gave em something to drink and struck up a conversation, one of em was called AbdulRazaq and he’s an immigrant here and the other is called Hank. Hank is white, blue eyed and is growing a blonde beard to embrace his newly converted faith of Islam. Funny how ppl in q8 are arguing about nightclubs while in the US two lumberworkers are praying 9alat al 3a9r during their break. nuff said.

i dunno why would i bother replying , and that would be the last , i didn’t say that i go or i do , i was teaching you CHOICE and choice is do what ever to ur self not to others u could say ‘3abi to your self if you want to that is the choice im talking about not to kick out ppl out of the country or prevent them from doing stuff is a choice of yours. got the idea (i know u got it because u smart mashalla 😉 such a kid
MARK age restriction 2 please ;p

Noorah:

1) You have no right calling anyone stupid. Only shows the level of your class.

2) Who do you think you are by telling people to leave the country. Are you mad or what? I was probably born on Kuwaiti soil when you were just a useless sperm!

3) Do you think that I would waste my life in a country where the majority of its’ local population practices racism and its actions and behavioral trends are based on nationality and stereotyping?! Absolutely unequivocally not. I live in a society that provides my family and I the respect, dignity and equal opportunity that everyone deserves…oh and fun as well! Tata and adios, and please sam3eena skootik!

did i call him stupid? i asked him a question. did i say you have to leave it, whether you like it or not? no, i said if you don’t like it then leave it. big difference. you don’t know how old i am so don’t act like your some big macho man. useless?? do you even know all the charities that i have contributed to and all the activism that i have participated in? i have done more good than you will ever do. the only useless person here is you. so if you don’t live here, why exactly do you care whether they open up a night club or not? your two cents are not needed. “tata and adios” to all of you.

Noorah: Your comments are so immature. Yes, you did imply that this person was stupid and that just shows how close minded and intolerant you are.

Please do not enforce your views on anyone, and respect each person’s lifestyle just like they respect yours.

Just because some people want to chill out and have a drink, does not mean they want to get drunk!

And you do not speak for the entire population of Kuwait. Believe me, there are other people who disapprove of you and the way you live, just like you disapprove of others.

It is obvious that you have a difficulty understanding the concept of “choice”, and you only want what you believe is right. Therefore, il kalam wiyach thaye3.

Wow this post really steered up a rising hell. I think allot of the people should stop fighting with each other and maybe right their comments about the tent. I also think and ask respectfully that some people should be less harsh on with their offensive comments of Kuwait.

I am a Kuwaiti, and I would not like it when people talk bad about my country

As for the expats living here, you are making a life and a future of this country don’t you think that you should have more respect for it when you speak of it..

Cheers mates, This was really fun to read all the comments on this topic…
