Off with your head!

If for some reason I accidentally hit that bus from the rear I could easily imagine getting decapitated. Why are buses allowed to have their rear engine cover open like that? It’s not the first time I’ve seen that and I’m guessing they do it to keep their engine cool but that’s no excuse.

I am about to make a formal announcement…SE Asian drivers are the worst driver’s in the GCC! Here and Dubai. When I went to get my driver’s licence in Dubai, I saw huge crowds of these drivers paying traffic fines. They don’t recieve proper training before they come to the GCC and I am aware of these kind of antics on the roads. AND many of them are truck and bus driver’s…God help us! I am taking some heat off the locals for a minute folks.

Good point AA88. Sometimes I believe there are newspaper ads in some of those countries that read: “Truck and Bus drivers needed for Kuwait: No Experience Necessary”. I also believe why some of them are reckless is because of the fact if they get in an accident(which they don’t get too hurt) they get a nice hospital bed(to themselves) 3 meals a day and room service(nurses). Why would they want to go back to their quarters when they have that kind of service?

Do u think the bus driver knows how to cool the engine better than the bus makers? if the engine was overheating, then they would haveinitially made the cover always open. No?

Because it’s a HEAT ENGINE !

bus drivers in Kuwait and trucks are a huge traffic problem in Kuwait being ignored. nah lets just worry about window stickers instead.

I remember, back in the day, you would hardly see any bus in kuwait giving off black smoke, now, its just a commonality.. more and more ill mantained cars and buses visible on the road now..

those buses also drive like they were regular sedan cars.. high speeds and changing lines like it was the common thing to do.

Another major issue with these buses is that a good chunk of the bus stop points (One with White/Blue Brick pavement) are marked strategically wrong especially that it leads them to do a random break stop (without flickering the ER yellow lights on).

Not to mention that some of these bus stop points are not even marked or have the bus stop pole signal and yet they still stop at that invisible bus stop point.

When I came to Kuwait in 1996, there was just one bus company (KPTC) and driving in Kuwait was far better. Due to the increase in the expat population, two more bus companies were introduced on the roads; City Bus and KGL. Now all three companies are competing with each other for maximum passengers, which has lead to reckless driving on the roads. Besides this the driver has to collect fairs and drive, this leads to more recklessness and bad judgments

These busses are run from morning to night, hence they have to open their engine covers to keep the engines cool. Because of these busses are kept running all the time (obviously to stay profitable), they hardly have any maintenance, which leads to heavy smoke and frequent breakdowns.

Kuwait needs a Metro network more than ever.

KGL are the orange buses. Valid point by Keith, what u failed to mention however is that competition on the road is not just between rival companies vying to get to the potential passengers first; miscommunicated schedules make it so that 2 buses of the same company are on the same line at the same time, and they are racing each other to see who gets ahead.

public transport in kuwait needs regulation, FAST. before it was a get-rich-quick residency selling scheme for all those “on call” taxis.

i remember in 1996 Kuwait did not have such taxis, and u had to literally call a taxi, give him ur number and location, and they would pick you up. sure, prices were fixed but it was SAFE.

When I was in Canada buses there were very strict. Once the bus door closes it doesn’t open up again until the next stop. Here I’ve seen buses just stop randomly on the side of the street to pick up random passengers.. like a taxi cab.

I think the system used in the UK and Australia are the best! There are specific roads for the buses and they stop and the bus stop and no where else!

Well my friend , i guess the System in Dubai and Abu Dhabi is quite the same as Uk and aussie , as living in Abu Dhabi , and using it around 2-3 times a day , i can say that.

The worst thing is when the engines of these busses get over-heated and the bus stops, in the middle of Kuwait’s burning sun.. and the poor people inside have to go out and find another transport, believe me it happens many times every day..

I used to take the bus when I first came to Kuwait, for a whole year that is.

ahahaaa it’s the 2011 PORSCHE 911 KPTC BUS 4S the rear spoiler opens to cool the engine and improve downforce at high speeds
