One More Chance

In the comments of the previous Blockbuster post someone mentioned a Kuwaiti movie called “One More Chance” that is going to get released soon in Kuwait. So I did a quick Google and found the trailer for it on the blog Buzberry. It looks like its going to be a really funny movie. I think they’ve spoofed movies like Get Smart (which I watched a few days back and really liked), The Matrix and James Bond. The production quality and acting seems like complete crap but I guess that helps making it a comedy. Check out the trailer above. [YouTube]

God, please no. Would it hurt to get a decent movie editor? Would it hurt to get an adequate costume designer? would it be so terrible if the scripts would be worked on more diligently and properly? Would it really hurt anyone to make a decent Kuwaiti movie?

I don’t mean to bash this movie without having seen it, but seriously, can anyone name one good or even decent Kuwaiti movie?

Movies tend to represent the culture in which they portray, and what’s this movie going to add? I get that it’s meant to be satirical, but give me a break. Can we just get on with it, we’ve seen and heard this sh*t before. Film making is a form of art that’s being butchered by these so called directors. It’s like going out and getting a 10 MP digital cam from Sony, snapping a couple of pictures on the beach, and calling yourself a professional photographer the next day.

I’m just bummed out. I’m sorry, but the only good thing about that trailer was that it’s under than 2 minutes. This is just my opinion. Sorry for the lost comment :p~

I actually saw the movie a few months ago in a private screening. I won’t go into the details of the movie, but I salute the guys who worked on the movie. They chipped in their own money for the movie to make something that we can say is made in Kuwait.
I hope the best for them and they’re future ventures. And I think that you readers, if anything, should at least go to the movie to say that you supported those guys.

You know what, I just think they are doing what they can with what they have.. Gone are the days of “Bye Bye London” the costs are higher and nobody is really willing to shell out to make this type of movie better..

I just hope it improves..

Marzouq, I keep hearing about money money and money… how can money improve what we just saw in the that trailer?
we don’t have creative directors. we dont have creative writers. and we dont have creative producers. all those three are depending on the actors.. and thats not fair for the actors because it puts too much on them.

do i need to name each and every successful movie that was a very low budget movie? just take a quick look on youtube and u’ll see some independent movies that are working in almost a non existent budget yet they’re still awesome. and why go that far? take a look at The Blair Witch Project. I remember hearing it was one of the cheapest movies to make. and according to a quick search i just did in wikipedia, its cost was 22,000 USD. Guess how much the revenue? “$248,639,099 (as of January 20, 2008)”

I rest my case!

The question is, is it supposed to be a comedy? or is it just funny? there is a difference you know 🙂

I’m saying that because I saw another trailer of the movie and it made look like a serious action type of film, so now I’m confused how to perceive it :/

Bow n Arrow..

I don’t agree with you. It’s true that we aspire a world class professional cinema in Kuwait, but that in my opinion will not happen without tens or even hundreds of not so professional productions… like this one.

I saw the trailer in the cinema and as one of you said “its a home movie done in a larger scale” thats exactly what I thought

Never judge a book by its cover, and here never judge a movie by its trailer. Sheesh ppl, wait for it to actually hit the cinemas and then bash it lol.
