I thought a lot of people knew about this already but I am still getting emails from people telling me they tried ordering an iPhone from the Apple Store but that its asking them for a US shipping address.
What you need to do to order an iPhone from the Apple Store or any electronic item from Amazon for that matter is to set up a US forwarding mailbox. Basically its a mailbox thats located in the States and anything that arrives in it will get forwarded to your address here in Kuwait.
There are four companies in Kuwait that offer this service and I’ve tried all four of them, my favorite and the one I use the most is U Shop We Ship. The main reason I prefer it over the competition is the fact that signing up to their service can be done online and all payments for the shipments can also be paid online. This makes things really practical. Items usually take 3 to 4 days to arrive to Kuwait once shipped from your US mailbox.
I know a lot of people have tried ordering iPhones from the Apple Store and have had their shipments canceled. I don’t know why thats happening and why it works with some people and not with others. I myself have ordered 3 iPhones with the last one around 10 days ago and I haven’t had any cancellations yet. I’ve also received the iPhones quickly without paying any custom fees. I don’t have any advice or tips on how to avoid getting your order canceled, I guess it could be random thing.
update: To find out what firmware you have on an un-activated iPhone do the following dial *3001#12345#* and then push “Call”
If you see 03.12.06_G then your firmware is 1.0.0
If you see 03.14.08_G then your firmware is 1.02
If you see 04.01.13_G then your firmware is 1.1.1

with the new version of the iPhone ver. 1.1.1 i think it will be useless because the hack doesnt released yet.
The iPhones that are being sold on the Apple Store to my knowledge are version 1.0. So when you get it don’t upgrade to 1.1.1 just upgrade to 1.0.2 and you will be fine.
The once I received was at 1.0.2.
As the older batch depletes, they will start shipping the new batch which has the new firmware.
Cajie you sure you got it 1.0.2? All three iphones I ordered were 1.0 and the last one which I received which I ordered after you was 1.0.
According to the Apple support discussions there haven’t been any reports of users getting iphones with 1.1.1 installed.

New iphones (week 38+) being shipped and in stores are 1.1.1.1; even if you downgrade the Iphone, you can not unlock the baseband.
About USWS… the online payment hasn’t worked in ages for me, tracking information is inconsistent (sometimes it’s there, sometimes it’s not), and it certainly takes longer than 3 to 4 days now. They only ship things out once a week, and then the shipment takes closer to a week to actually arrive. Maybe they’re giving Mark special treatment, hah.
Thamer around a month ago their online payment started working properly again. Their tracking information though is still not working right. But they ship things out twice a week and it does arrive 3 to 4 days after shipping. I doubt they charter a flight just for my stuff lol
listen, all, i just received my iPhone today, October 8th, and it’s version 1.02. this is one i order 4 days ago, and I just got it, so i think it’s still fine and not too risky to order it…

Yes, mine came with 1.0.2. Checked it with the same instructions as given by you – hence I could unlock without any problems.

I wanted to know if I got an iPhone with the 1.1.1 firmware, will I be able to downgrade it to 1.0.2 easily to beable to unlock it? If yes do you know any websites that could help me with that?

mark. how u do ur payment. which credit card. kuwaiti one or american express. if kuwaiti credit card, what billing address u used, kuwaiti one or the US mailbox one?
Kuwaiti credit card but i put my address as a US one since there is no option to put kuwait.
mark, i have a question, i signed up for the mail forwarding thing, but i didnt get what do they mean when they ask u about your preferences ,such as weekly, twice a week or monthy.. i picked weekly
Its how often you want them to check your mailbox to see if you have any packages.
i’ve ordered 3 iphone with my Amex and ShopnShip and all of them accepted and deliverd to me.

Hey guys. i just wanted to ask u.. if we placed an order on the apple website they say that the shipments have to be signed for on delivery, will UshopWeShip do that for u ??? Or do we have to do the pre-signature thing they have on the website ?
