Someone posted a link to a website the other day when I was looking to rent a car and I thought it was spam. Why? Because the comment said I could rent a Hummer for KD10 and then sent me to a website which looked like a second hand car dealership called Gallardo.
Fast forward to today, I am flipping through an Al-Waseet clone when I found an advert for a car rental agency called Gallardo where you can rent an H3 or a Mini convertible for only KD10. Not only that but I could rent a Ferrari F430 or a Lamborghini Gallardo for KD150 a day which is less then half the price of competitors.
So I called them up to see if there were any strings attached and so far it seems there aren’t any. The cars are fully insured and you can rent them for 1 day if you want there is no minimum. Currently they only had a Bentley, Gallardo and 6-series BMW available but the guy said to call back at 7PM because thats when some of the other cars will be back in. It still sounds too good to be true so something must be up. How is it possible to rent an H3 for KD10 a day when a Corolla is for KD7?

sounded fishy so i called them up, turns out that the mini cooper is 10 BUT you only have 50km a day, now lets say from my house (nuzha) to the shaleh is 65 km not mentioning the way back. these people charge low on fixed prices, but im sure will charge ur a$# off extra millage

this company is running out of money, so they have a plan to make more money by making people sign ~kambiyala~ and then take them to court. This what the guy that work there told my friend.

I posted the link earlier as Gallardo is one of our accounts. Dont really know the specifics of the promotion, but from what our account servicing guys say, it seems to be on the up and up. All the same, it never hurts to buzz them and clarify things.

Kimbiyala = Check “without protest”. There not broke, they’re cars are always rented. The risk is when you get into an accident god forbid, you pay the daily price until it get fixed. A gallardo was once towed and compounded for 10 days, 0 mileage, parked in a parked garage for 4000kd, the owner couldn’t be any happier. They get him to pay or present the kimbiyala (blank check) to court. Be careful guys.

well let me use some fancy terms i learnt regarding pricing strategies, ‘Penetrative pricing’ seems to be the case here as the price is set lower than competition to increase demand
or i could be a ‘loss leader’ strategy where some prices are kept really low so that other prices look reasonable.

Yeah…as Nasar said “its only 50 kms allowance”. Thats the catch right there. You pay extra once you cross that.
