From what I read on the comments page, most are complaining about how awful the perfume is. I guess they didn’t find the censoring that big of a deal, and I do find the censorship relevant.

big deal.. this is Kuwait, people at Baidhoun wanted to put advert for the perfume, they got source pictures to use, they asked their advertising agent to ‘fix it’ so it would pass news paper regulations and that was done.
so what? this would happen with any form of media any where in the world.

If anything censoring this ad will only lead to promoting it some more. Whereas previously it may have gone un-noticed now it’s become the forbidden fruit and a low hanging one at that, for all and sundry in Kuwait and beyond.

Lol you know what’s funny? In that original source you put, pretty much everyone that commented on the actual edit (and not to say that the perfume is horrible which was the majority of comments) said that they preferred the edited version because it looked more classy.. Others said that it wasn’t a big deal. As opposed to some people living in Kuwait who seem to have inferiority complex “zomg we have to be like America we’re so backwards”

I don’t understand why people are making such a big deal. Like Mark said its not like they drew a mustache on her. They didnt even censor her with the black marker, they photoshopped it to make it look more decent for our culture.
Not every one that lives in Kuwait is Ok with looking at a picture like that.
And for all those people saying that Kuwait is backwards, keep in mind that Wal-Mart chooses not to sell some music/magazines etc. because they feel that they are too racy for the people that shop in Wal-Mart .. They try to make it more family friendly. Although many people are against it there, that is their policy.
I think people should start thinking out side the box and not start just start commenting about closed mindedness and backwardness.
Totally agree with Chirp – when in Kuwait do as the Kuwaitis do. Having said that, would we ever need state censorship in the first place if people gracefully learnt to master the art of self censorship, and look the other way?
