Shake Shack confirms Kuwait store

The New York Times has an article about Shake Shack and their expansion plans and this is the first time that I know of where Shake Shack themselves confirm the fact that they’re opening up in Kuwait. Previously when Shake Shacks PR department was asked regarding the Kuwait launch they wouldn’t confirm it. As I mentioned before in one of my previous posts, Shake Shack will be opening early next year at The Avenues mall. My personal opinion is that they will open up in the location where the Debenhams home store just closed. [Link]

Note: My fingers are still crossed for someone to bring back A&W, Wendy’s and most importantly, Arby’s.

Update: Big Moe sent me the link to this YouTube video of an interview with the Shake Shack guys. Kuwait of course is mentioned since the journalist wanted to know “why Kuwait???”

We have enough burgers, what we need is Panda Express. Since Alshaya is going on doing a wishlist hunting, they should get something that is really fresh and different.

I really dont know what Shake Shack is .. Never saw, never tried, never anything about it.

But Arby’s .. AAAAAH I miss those roast beef sandwiches 🙁

Ideally it should have an outdoor section to get that street vendor vibe, so that Debenhams home store wouldn’t work… I’m guessing they can afford to replace a Starbucks (or 3!) at the Avenues, especially in phase 2. It has outdoor seating

Nothing new, most american restaurants provide the same foods and beverages, hopefully something else like Panera Bread or Tim Hortons or Whole Food in our region!

Thanks Mark~

Sn3a ALL meat in Kuwait is HALAL. No restaurant or shop is allowed to sell or serve non-HALAL meat.

Mohd: Shake Shack was just NY based and they’re opening up here in Kuwait so I am sure InNout will end up in Kuwait one day.

Mark, In n Out will not venture out beyond the west coast and you think they will come to Kuwait ? It’s all about quality control and being close to the source of good fresh beef and potatoes. They will not compromise that for 3agad ridden avenues.

Mark, according to the owner of Slider Station some of the gourmet items on the menu are not Halal. He mentioned a few years ago on one of the blogs that the duck was not halal.

Nice interview. I think a key element that will make Al-Shaya’s food market venture would be to maintain the same quality of the US.
Fudd’s is a good example. Had they maintained the way they first started then my guess is that they would still be successful today.

You know what would be a huge hit? A GOLD’S GYM in the Avenues. Now there’s an idea for the mall owner 😉

Can’t say I’ve ever had Shake Shack before but bring it on.. And Williams Sonoma in kuwait would be wonderful if they didn’t plan on slapping a KD over the USD. That stuff is tres expensive to begin with..
In all probability I will still be buying off the website :/

I second Panera’s nomination though!

I’d like to thank Al-Shaya group for basically shopping around (outside the middle-east) and bring in hmmm….

not only franchises by the Western Culture and diluting ours ….

My hat goes of to the Japanese who really take pride in there culture and fight any dilution and interference in it!.

Thank you Al shaya for smothering us with all these goodies!

How bout creating something original and think for yourselves for the first time? than snatching ideas around the world! Examples from our friends in Lebanon of real originality: burj al hamam …. the lemon tree … etc…
Be original for crying out load !

P.S.: What have u given back to the society the you are changing in not so good way?
Turn your heads to the franchises and ideas your are stanching and look at there social programs… how bout you learn something from that?

Hear hear to exploitative capitalism!

I’m from Chicago pizzaria UNO does Chicago pizza no justice. Bring a giodanos pizza to Kuwait . Also I miss Wendy’s and White Castle. Kuwait is missing out.
