This is a video of the fire that happened on Thursday in Shuwaikh. I passed by the area today and it looks like the fire damaged around 4 stores on the ground floor and burned across the whole top floors. [YouTube]

the shops should have the sprinkler thing.. you know.. the ones that activate when there’s smoke and it sprays water everywhere!
i know those shop owners only Al fanoos owner had insurance but other two shops had no insurance. Al fanoos lost more then 50,000 KD of inventory and other shops with no insurance have lost it all estimated more then 40,000 KD. about 100 people use to work there and now they all are job less because of one stupid guy mistake. A friend of mine told me that a guy was welding some thing at the back of the building and some how top floor caught fire and then fire spread in all those shops.
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the recent fire ‘incidents’ are actually cases of arson in order to claim insurance?
there is a general tire shop on the corner of the share al zina street owned by an indian guy he is sikh i think. he burn one of his tire shop every year to claim insurance and as i have heard he claim big amount.
Also the huge warehouse for storing carpets and fabrics next to the Sultan Center in Shuwaikh also is rumored to have been an ‘insurance fire’
