I got a forward in my email today that contained a picture I had taken at the Kuwait Airport back in 2005 (pictured above). I had spotted a sign that had been placed in front of a security camera and thought that was pretty stupid and took a picture of it. Now 5 years later, it’s become one of those “epic fail” kind of pictures that gets forwarded around. Pretty cool. [Link]

okay
i think we should use watermark from now on
I hate watermarks, it ruins the picture and i never use them on any of my pictures.
Mark, don’t use watermark, just add your url(small txt) on the side.. π
same thing, small txt on the side ruins the picture. i would rather not put any markings on a picture and have people steal/borrow/use it over have markings on a picture and have no one steal/borrow/use it.
Any idea if its fixed or still the same 5 years on?
Imagine the idiots monitoring it since 2005: “Hmmmm not many passengers today”
Watermarks & other marks on photos: I agree with Mark. I get all those e-mail forwards with “[email protected]” planted in the middle and it is just such a waste. I think there is more honor in knowing that people appreciate your work and like it enough to distribute it.
I know, I know, property rights and all that, but where there’s a will, there’s a way. People are going to do it anyways.
Way to go, Mark, and nice photo. I might download and distribute now…. π
I follow the same philosophy as Mark when it comes to watermarks. Hate it.
But like Mark, I don’t make money from photography. There are many people whose livelihood depends on the photos that they create – and for those, there is a genuine need for water-marking or protecting their work in one way or the other.
Agree with DG. So true. Open source is the way forward.
BTW, this is what you call ‘Hidden Cameras’?
On the website you posted, they considered this a fail: https://www.chilloutpoint.com/images/2009/12/the-most-incredible-construction-mistakes/funniest-construction-mistakes-01.jpg …. lol, it’s probably in an Arab country.
Yes your photo is pretty famous… I’ve seen it also in an Engineers convention in the UK earlier this year. Lot of engineers from all over the world saw it and laughed at it… of course I was privileged to announce its a Kuwaiti achievment.
Truly P2BK π
This cam was turned of since 2005 because the “idiots” as ‘Kuwait’ said have installed new cams but ppl always look at the glass have empty:)
half*
i believe this picture sais a lot about the situation in kuwait today. very sad π
it depends on the cameraβs angle whether, low, high or tilt I guess both tilt & low here gave an impression that the security cam is really behind the display screen, maybe i’m wrong π
Well u should post it on FAILBlog , it would get a lot of hits ,u don’t have to mention where this picture is taken from so that Kuwait won’t be A funny topic beside we Ride Camels LOL
dude i’ve seen this pic so many times now all over the net i never knew you took it. Hell i never knew this was actually in Kuwait LMAO!!
