The Bus Stops

I’ve decided to start documenting the different types of bus stops around Kuwait. Why? Because I am pissed off. I really love the old bus stops which we still have lying around randomly in different parts of Kuwait not being taken care of and left to wither away. The new bus stops on the other hand… it’s just very depressing. In any case I don’t know what I am going to do yet with this, I took some test shots yesterday just to see if there is something in this project and I think there is. What I need is some help. Does anyone have any information about the bus stops in Kuwait, like who designed which ones or the dates the different designs were introduced in Kuwait?

to me this topic is very uninteresting and dull. whats wrong MARK? u always had really awesome things to post but this is very low..maybe u should have posted after u got all the pictures

If you go to residential areas you will notice the different designs… each designed by the coops in their areas. I got an email before with similar idea, showing bus stops in Kuwait (different ones) and then from around the world. I will look that email up now

I love the old design too… Part of Kuwait’s identity – like water towers. I hate the new designs and especially the different co-op ones mentioned by Ansam. The AC one sounds interesting – I wonder what it looks like.

Good luck, Mark.

Ansam if you find the email please email me. It looks like there are A LOT more than just 6 or 8 bus stop designs. Should make this project a lot more interesting.

hey a few bus stands caught my eye in jabariya near NES, they seemed to be kinda old and different to the usual bus stands.

yey!! thanks mark, in fact yesterday I was asking my sister to do so -coz I’m already busy documenting other buildings-! the old ones are really wonderful and no one is noticing that! walla all the luck!

Don’t be sorry, I do like to know what my readers think but as a reader you also have to expect that not all posts might interest you. I try my best to cater to a large audience and a lot of times my posts might mean very little to a lot of people and a lot to very few people. I can’t please everyone 100% of the time.

Fahad, its not like Dubai bus shelter.. its entrance from both the sides with manual door and has 2 split AC units. dont know whether its always switched ON or not but its a an abandon one. I havent seen anyone using that.

hey Mark, really awesome work… cant wait to see the end result, very thoughtful of you

good luck and sorry that i can’t help u out, but in case i notice anything i will definitely share it with u

thanx

Even small, uninteresting things can make big impact! I had recently been on a trip to Yemen. Though everything was ordinary there since its a poor country. But there was this one special thing that caught my eye, other than their Old House Layout(old Sanaa)…i.e, Street Lights. It has different, unique & attractive street lights and every area has a different type of street light. And I was pleasantly surprised.

I have a few pix of dilapidated bus stop(waiting shade) along the Gulf road, the one with ad space on both side. If I found the files, might send it to you.

btw, interesting project Mark! =)
