The Early Bird

I finally got to try The Early Bird today for the very first time. I have no idea why it took so long but glad I finally did. The place was slightly larger than I expected, it had around 5 tables on the inside and maybe another 6 outside. It’s a breakfast place so you obviously have all the usual breakfast options like eggs, pancakes, waffles etc.. I was craving pancakes so went with that and customized it by having chopped bananas, sausages, country fried potatoes and added a scrambled egg on the side. Nat went with a healthier option, Bianca’s Breakfast Omelet which is an egg white omelet containing turkey ham, spinach, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, cilantro and cheese served with a side of fruit.

Everything tasted great and the portions were pretty big. The fact they have a healthy section with egg white omelets is a huge plus. The only negative really is the size of the place but they’re pretty organized and you can sit in your car while you wait for a table to free up so it’s not that bad. They have two locations (Jabriya and Fahaheel) and if you’re interested in trying them out check out their website, they even have their full menu there with the prices as well. Here is the [Link]

Now I’m craving it!! Their omelets are the best! You should try their chocolate chip pancakes and what I love about them is that you have the option to order one piece of pancake instead of three. Their hashbrowns are also really good especially when its not burnt!

trying it for the very first time after a longtime since it lost its hype !

so sad .. this blog used to be a q8i foodies’ paradise .. its either fahad’s diet or its becoming more businessy .. i hope its not the latter . cheers

I absolutely heart The Early Bird. The food is delish and you always get service with a smile. The wait is never too long and to be honest, is well worth it. Amazing tunes are always playing whilst u eat..a def bonus in my books!

yea, i love how they play lots of Coldplay.

But if thats the genre they want they should throw in some Citizen Cope, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Phoenix……and maybe some Adelle?

Hey mark. I would have posted this on the forum section but I was too lazy to register. Anyway, since you know a lot about Kuwait. Do you know any place(s) that have baking courses? Thanks in advance.

well this place was so hyped fr its food n service I really was looking fwd to going there… the guy was busy as usual..but quite curt n rude… I took a bit if time to order my omlet. he was too impatient n I ended up eiyh a paper thin PLAIN OMLET…The ac above us was spitting water n after telling him so nicely with a smile he just ignored it.. luckily my husband didn’t loose it. well I hope next time my experience is better..

Diloo, if you were at the one in Fahaheel, maybe the guys there weren’t in the mood on that day. they are generally talkative, maybe to the women alittle too much and forget about the others, but their very entertaining!
Your husband probably would have bit the head off of the girl that waited on usin Mornin and Evenin around the corner from there with the way she works when my wife and I went in there, and that was the only and last time. She flat out ignored us only to wait on another couple and that came in after us and got their order in and their food out before us. I didn’t really want to go in there anyways because the filipino woman that opened Mornin and Evenin with her British husband worked at The Early Bird prior to opening their place… bad business practice.

Wait you seriously never went?! for some reason I assumed you knew the Early Bird people. Anyway the food is good, if you’re in the mood for an American breakfast it hits the spot.

I went there with my wife and mother in law, found out there was a wait, so i told the waiter inside that i will be waiting in the car(like u mentioned in your post). When we saw a group of six girls going in, my wife rushed inside to make sure they didn’t get the table that we were waiting for, and guess what….they got a table while we were waiting outside, just because they were lucky enough to enter as some other customers were leaving. Naturally my wife was angry but nicely told the owner that we have been waiting and that these people just came in, the owner just gave a blank look and turned away, ignored my wife’s comment. Problem is she is too nice, she just left swearing that she will never step foot in that place again. I was furious, that the owner had the nerve to do that to a customer, luckily my wife stopped me from making a scene so we just decided to never go there again!!

Here’s the trick…Early birds is quite busy in the morning til 10 or even 11 on the weekends, so if u dont want to wait…then Early Birds is not the place. Coz obviously it’ll be crowded by that time…Another thing is, they have a delivery so u can also call them and order. πŸ™‚ Me and my hubby have been there alot of times, food is great, people are soo nice. Service is goood and price is abit high but all in all its great!

if it was a problem of a wait then i would have left instantly, but what pisses me off is that they made us wait and some people who just walked in took a table. Now that’s what i call an unorganized restaurant. And to top it off, the owner was rude with her reaction.

Hi. You can also leave ur number and go for a drive until u are called and your table is ready. Maybe this was the case. Just saying. Peace out

This was not the case because they acknowledged that they gave the table away by mistake and did nothing about it. Peace.

My friend and I went Fri late morning to the Fahaheel branch that I had been to once years ago. My friend had never been and was surprised about the shadiness of the street/location. They were not letting anyone in even though it was not full- a table for 6 only had 2 people at it. We waited outside no problem along with another couple who had arrived just before us. The waiter (maybe owner) told us we would all be seated in about 10 minutes and that the 3 younger guys who were also waiting were before us. They left though. 10 or 15 min later another couple arrived and almost right away some diners left and the new people were seated We went up to the waiter and he condescendingly said that they had had “reservations.” We did not make a scene but left never to return again. Several friends of mine who go to the Jabriya branch agree that it is over-rated. Poor location/ crowded space/ wait for table/ arrogant staff. This place would never survive outside of Kuwait.

ohhh i love everything about early bird i went to both branches , both are wonderfull , lovely food , great service , wonderful coffe i love everything related to early bird πŸ™‚

this really sounds like an add. lool i can imagine someone says this on a TV add. and infront of him a big choco. pancacke and holding a mug with early bird logo on it , loooooooooooooooooool

I second everyone who had a difficult time at fahaheel! J and Angry customer, I know what you mean. I waited and waited and when new arrivals were seated right away, the first this the unqualified waiter said was look at my notebook. I just looked at his and said if you had told me to make reservation I would but don’t keep me waiting when u said 10 mins to be seated.

I only went there because if the “hype” I heard about this place but honestly, it’s just ur not even average American breakfast.

Majed’s convenient comment after J’s actually convinced me that this place is not worth visiting since I noticed lots of those in this blog. Suspicious!

Actually if you want to talk about suspicious, Majed has actually posted on this blog before but you and the other negative commentators are posting here for the first time. There can always be a conspiracy theory but in reality some people had a good experience while others didn’t. That’s how things usually are.

funny that someone took my comment this way, actually my comment came from a year an half previous experience with early bird , off course i had some troubles there nothing major to be mentioned compared to the delicious food they serve compared to other similar restaurants that serves only breakfast items.
and i repeat im not working there , i don’t even know the owner , mark dont pay me to write +ve comments as he don’t get paid too, and if u r following the blog u would know that mark had several problems due to many -ve reviews he did here for various stuff.

I ate there yesterday too, around 10:30. When did you go Mark? I had chocolate chip pancakes with bananas, home style potatoes and beef sausage. I wasn’t a fan of the sausage, but the rest was amazing. The pancakes are so fluffy and large I could only eat half of them. I highly recommend it though.

The pancake mix will rise after allowing it to sit. That is one of the keys to fluffy pancakes. Their panckes are “da bomb” and the omelettes are mmm mmmm delicious!

The best freakin’ pancakes and waffles in all of Kuwait. Couldn’t agree more.

They also do special orders if you have a reservation (as we did for a friend’s birthday).

Well my wife and I have always enjoyed it there despite it being small! what is shady about the location? Not everyone can afford a prime spot like other Kuwaiti entrepreneur’s. Friday and Saturday’s are the busiest days and they do prefer for customers to call for reservation or before arrival. We live in Mahboula and we could call and usually within 30mins of leaving the house and arriving, we could get a table, as long no other reservations are booked. the ones on here that have been once and never went back because of a bad experience to the service or no seats available, should really give it another try.

If u meant me, i have been to the one in Fahaheel a couple of times, i actually went there before all the hype about them. Their food was not that great, but i liked the atmosphere, and i used to take my dog since it was the only restaurant to allow dogs.

I’m surprised it took you so long to get around to Early Bird Mark. Very good breakfast. Its definitely the quality ingredients and the prep.

Highly recommended – but you have to get their early or hey – there’s an idea – call for a reservation. It will be worth your while.

I love Early Bird and Bianca. She is actually probably one of the main reasons breakfast places/menus became so popular in Kuwait over the last couple of years. Before Early Bird, the only decent breakfast to be had was at J Rockets and maybe one or two other places.

My only complaint is that Early Bird doesnt serve steak and eggs and other ‘meaty’ dishes.Im pretty sure Bianca is going to read this comment and grin, and hopefully in a couple of weeks might announce some new items on the menu πŸ˜‰

this place maybe great and worth all its good comments, but a “not so good” experience cud really dampen ones spirits!!!! Im waiting fr an opportunity to go back n try Bianca ‘s ssooo talked bout omlet:-)
btw …FYI …breakfast & brunch behind Marina mall…also awesome!!!!

I love that place and food/atmosphere is excellent (Jabriya branch) it gets busy in the morning thats why i go a bit later on after 11, 12 and it’s near empty so i never had a problem getting a table.

I am a regular there so the owner has always been nice to me but always a bit busy naturally but the cute blonde waitress (Ashley) is especially nice and really fun and talkative (too bad she left) but yeah that lebanese guy working there is a bit arrogant and usually in a negative mood so I try to avoid him, it’s not too hard. Another small con is that It’s a bit pricey for what simple stuff they serve esp. compared to the states but that’s Kuwaiti prices for ya lol.

I love it , and yes sometimes negative stuff happen their when it comes to waiting but to me thats rare
