On Friday morning I went to the junkyards to sell my old beemer wheels. Once I was done I decided to drive around and take pictures since the weather was good and the sky nice and blue. I really love the place, you can find everything there from the old double decker buses to broken down tanks. There was this one place I found which I think was a huge government impound lot that looked really cool. It was surrounded by a barbed wire fence but I managed to sneak inside from a hole in the fence and walk around a bit. The place is amazing, I found a lot of old trucks and cars, it was beautiful. If anyone can help me get in there legally again so I could take pictures that would be great. If not I guess I would have to jump the fence again.

but sirously , I love the JUNK YARD
Mark, the photos have amazing clarity. Which camera and did you paint brush them? Cool snaps.
D90, and no retouching, just color grading.
which tool? Photoshop?
to do what?
where is this exactly?
Which tool did you use for the color grading?
Mohammed, its a secret. Hint – Jahra road, auction house…
Mohammed, get on the 6th ring road and keep driving until you see a huge junk yard on your left. Thats the place, drive past the stadium and keep driving till you see the olympic shooting range, it’s like 5 minutes after that.
Akbar: Camera Raw 4.6 which is what Photoshop uses for RAW images.
Thanks Mark. Very kind of you for giving out the info. Enjoy.
lol its fine, its not like i am giving out any secret info, its the default program that comes with photoshop.
is this Amghara?
more tank pics PLEASE!
artistic and evocative photos… thanks for showing beauty even in a junkyard.
Nice shots and a great day for it.
You do have a good eye i have to say..
nice, I’ve only seen junkyards in movies
Really nice pictures, thanks
I love junkyards, but Amghara pisses me off because they strip the cars as soon as they come in, and then distribute the parts to various shops. Most of the fun of going to junkyards is stripping your own parts from the carcasses. It is total stress relief.
I love the looks I get from people when I go to Amghara. They just aren’t used to blondes who know cars! tee hee. One old guy invited me for coffee. He was such a kind old toothless man who just enjoyed the company and the conversation.
Mark – Camera Raw 5.2 is out now. Better processing.
4.6 is the highest that works with CS3 I believe.
u always amaze me with your photography
great job
#18: Of course they’re not used to look to blondes :p
And girls doesnโt exists at Amghara!
Kuwaiti – this blonde exists in Amghara!
Only you ๐
You know, I like to go to junkyards just for fun and when I see a scraped car like mine i feel sad and i feel like ” I wanna take it as a spares for mine”!
Nice Pics!
but I was wondering, is there a way at all to have your pics listed somewhere where users can not copy the pictures?
i.e not able to use right click save as or Print Screen!!
I fail to understand why web still not able to provide such protection.
Mark?
Great pix Mark!
and next time, can you create a ‘transformer’ like out of the junk before you take a shots, that would be awesome! ๐
Mark you have to give out wallpaper size of Picture 9. Please mark, please!
that is one wicked picture.
I will be opening a new flickr account and upload all the pictures i post here there as hi res downloads.
interesting……. love the pics!
free flickr doesn’t allow you to see pics in original resolution (no more than 1024×768)…….thats the only bad news.
will upgrade it to a pro account later
instead of upgrading to a pro account why don’t you upload the larger res ones into this site? ๐
I did, all the ones i uploaded are 1600 by XXXX
Amazing pictures…hats off to ya Mark. Good compositions.
Can I buy an old tank?
