We’re in trouble

The cops now have new portable cameras and by the looks of it they will be very difficult to spot. Judging by the picture above they will be used to catch the people who drive on emergency lanes which is cool but I believe they will also be able to capture speeders.

The Ministry pointed out that the new radar is accurate and can be transported from one place to another easily, in addition to having the video and photographic characteristics, which confirms the fact of the violation. It stated that the mobile radar is currently working with high efficiency in many locations, especially places of high traffic density, including schools.

Okay we have those here in Amman, Jordan.
Those things are just freaky. They are every highway driver’s worst nightmare. This is how they work (at least how they use them here):

– A CIVILIAN car is parked on side of the road or emergency lane with a camera attached to it that DOES NOT flash. You never know it hit you until it’s time to pay. It works like a speeding camera in this example as well as an emergency-lane-monitoring-thingie.

– A CIVILIAN car has this thing attached it and someone goes driving it around wherever. They usually set the car on cruise control. Just try to pass them. Another thing is that they would take a video recording of people littering while driving. This is what I believe is the upside to it.

Those things take “photos” automatically and manually. They are very small (as you see in the picture) and easily portable. Usually attached at the front wind shield, like a mobile holder.

Also one other note, this requires some of these made to perform physical labor, as long as your not at the end of the month and your not going to get caught in their quota they will probably not try too hard!

I wish they released statistics on details such as traffic violations and convictions! And even if they record the violation, when will we get the ticket, it usually takes a minimum of four months to receive a ticket!

The only thing good about this is that it will stop freak speeding on the emergency lanes. Other than that its the pits. Bad enough we have crawlers on the fast lane now we will overly cautious crawlers clogging up the lanes.

Its a good thing they are updating the technology. I have a few questions though.
What is shown in the picture above, isnt that just a speed gun, which simply shows the speed of a passing vehicle?
I mean its gonna have a hard time getting a clear shot of the number plate of a moving vehicle as long as someone is holding it in their hand, with all the shaking and stuff.
Civilian car parked on the side of the road with a camera that dosent flash?
Well those have been here for a while. The one Im sure about is an SUV parked on the Airport road. You can see it when driving towards Crowne Plaza.
Civilian car driving about with a camera inside?
That has got to be pretty hi-tech. Because the camera has to account for the speed of the vehicle carrying it, as well as other passing vehicles.

I’m still waiting for Cajie to tell us how horrible we all are because we like to speed, and how amazing a person he is because he doesn’t like speed.

okay, so this takes care of some speeding.. but what about the manouvering, weaving in and out of lanes and tailgating that is constaaaaaantt

Does Radar detectors catch these cameras? I believe it should if the camera has a the Radar on all the time but it is a problem if it goes only when the operator chose to spot a specific car where camera operate only by his trigger.

I have Valentine1 and so far nothing is undetectable!

the laser gun used is very accurate and also detects the interference from radar jammers.

In South africa, your car gets its license disc removed and you have to go for a re test to get your car back on the road if the radar detector picks up your jamming device. This radar jammer is illegal but can be used to our advantage.

As soon as it starts to beep, slow down and switch the unit off, this will prevent the radar detector from showing “blocked” on its screen.

But your reflexes gotta be quick,

What if I really had an emergency and was driving on the emergency lane! Do I still get a ticket? After all that’s why it’s called emergency lane!

@Eli I think It’s called an emergency lane because you get to PARK there when you face an emergency so that you dont block a lane on a HIGHWAY. That’s why it has all those speed breakers. They wouldnt want to break down your speed if the emergency lane was for emergency travelling.

I am glad they are controlling better the people on the road who think they are Schumacher and drive me madddddddddddd…………

“DAMN IT , i really need to speed sometimes !! ”

gets the adrenaline going, but do it sensibly in remote areas and traffic free roads

Cajie is in India where he is currently no doubt either jogging or bicycling under the speed limit.

As for Kuwait, in addition to the hard shoulder cruisers, I hope they also catch the following:

* People merging onto the exit ramp by slowing down and STOPPING on the middle lane; and their cousins:

* People doing the “four laner no brainer” – waiting the last minute, then cutting across four lanes of traffic at speed to make the exit ramp.

If they enforced the laws they already have, I’m sure the fines would have more than paid for the fancy equipment.
