Not sure whats up with Marina Crescent and whale sharks but this is the second time one has gotten stranded there. Back in July 2009 a whale shark got stuck there and ended up being rescued using the marine parachute bed. [YouTube]

It is a whale shark alright but I think I am more concerned with all those garbage and floating plastic bottles..
I had the same thought…..what a mess!
Wasn’t there a small motor boat that would clean it up every day? It really looks filthy.
The boats are not running because of the whale.
It’s sonar system is disturbed and the noise of boats makes it worse. Plus, it could get hurt.
Ask the question why people throw bottles at the whale. Not why the cleaners don’t pick them up.
How about throwing your own garbage in the bin!
People are just so lazy. They won’t walk two meters to through their garbage in the bin.
They need to stop cleaning the streets for a week or so so people can learn.
Many people actually threw the bottles AT the whale 🙁
What to look at the whale shark or all the trash ! I can’t believe the people that think the sea is the trash can !
If there was a whale shark in the video I couldn’t see it thru all that trash!
All that litter was too distracting! I could barely see the whale only it’s silhouette for a few seconds. Are people here that disrespectful to their environment? But then again it’s nothing new. I always see people dumping tissues and wrappers from the windows of their cars and I just give them that “tsk tsk” look.
I seriously think there should be fines to be handed out in marina mall and souq sharq to anyone throwing shit in the sea. Retards!!
I agree. I think anyone caught throwing trash into the water should be pushed into it while the whale shark patrols the area.
Ever been at any beach after the weekend? People leave their whole picnic there,….
I went to Marina beach early Saturday morning. It was like the aftermath of a war.
Yup. Thursday morning Fahaheel. All over the grass AND the beach. It was the worst I’ve seen it so far.
Last night I saw people actually swimming in the sea in front of the Marina Hotel and Crescent and they were well 50-70 meters into the sea.
If this Shark could get here, we may soon see a JAWS episode going on at the beach as well.
But whale sharks are harmless to humans they only feed on tiny fish like krill..unless you are accidentally swallowed by one.
Come on man..don’t you think they get bored of eating sea food all the frikin time?
I like how only 1 out of 10 comments were about the shark.
may be he is hungry and he knows there is a lot of cafes that side:)
What a shaaaaaameeeeeeee!! This is a sea side not a recycle bin!!!!!!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE that ppl still do that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
our aqua tourists like kuwait.i meant the sharks, but wee need to clean it up so we dont loose them.
the water is so filthy.i saw the water in alkout mall it was so clean and clear,it looked artificial

Walla its embarrassing , all the trash in the water. I feel bad for the shark, I heard people were throwing the water bottles at it.
That water is filthy and disgusting! I feel sorry for that poor creature getting stuck in that area!
Its disgusting how people not caring about throwing garbage and polluting th water. Is tere something we can do like start an organization to protect our water? Anyone have any ideas email me at [email protected]
Contact the Kuwait diving team. They are working with K’s path re clean-ups of ocean and beaches.
I thought pigs were haram in Kuwait but I guess not …
I support a jail sentence for any idiot who dares to throw garbage into the water, and if they are not citizens, they should be deported upon the completion of their term.
Why limit this sentence for the sea only? Should be for streets, road sides, even the desert.
WTF is all that garbage …. Dammit please can some one do something about this ?
looks like an aquafina ad!!!
this is sad!
All that rubbish(((( is the Envirenment Public Authority (EPA) responsible for monitoring this? Or nobody is assigned to this? So sad((
the reason why there is so much garbage is because Kuwait has done what it has done in other segments – they’ve spoiled us!
Pay for our loans
Give us a grant
Pay for our school
Hire somebody else to pick up our trash
what they havent done is:
inform us about our environment and how sensitive it is
put up more garbage cans
make us dependent on ourselves to take c are of our country and not depend on others. Our care of the environment should be because of love for the country unlike the poor guys they hire to clean it for 20KD a month.
Mark u should check out the only somewhat public beach right by seashells(think its called green beach). Basically its the only beach in the chalet area which is accessible to the public. The waters are beautiful however when you look at the shore u see sun bathers basking in sun and garbage. I will get you pics and we should really organize an event where we go clean it up and perhaps celebrate with a bbq…lets utilize social media and clean up our country one beach at a time!
Agreed!
K’s Path is organazing a beach clean up every couple weeks or so. They’ve been collecting tons of trash (literally) and recycling whatever can be recycled (on cooperation with GTC) and properly disposing of the rest.
You’ve summed it all up.
And the beach clean-ups are running. One every Friday morning (like Othman said) 🙂
They also have an education program running and work with schools (but I am not 100% on the facts here)
If you click the above link, you’ll get to the photos of the last clean-up.
O… u r so right. Its sad to see people recklessly trash an environment which is already so fragile and without balance. All the more reason we need to protect our surroundings and whatever’s left of the environment right? But in Q8.. its the opposite. The desert and the beaches are full of PLASTIC. Recently.. someone stepped on a used SYRINGE on a very public and prominent beach that had children running around. Disturbing.
We find at least one syringe on every clean-up. This Friday at Sulaibikhat I found two,…
Honestly, I am embarrassed by the pollution, and I am not even Kuwaiti. If I WERE Kuwaiti, this video would be enough to make me feel HUMILIATED that this is the way my “family” treats my home. The poor shark probably got there because the water (can that sludge be called water even??) was so dirty it couldn’t find its way!
Come on people, who do we have to talk to about cleaning the water and setting standards for punishing polluters (and educating the children about not polluting the environment)??
the title of the video should be “whale shark swimming on the sea of garbage.”
it really is sad the lack of education we have here in Kuwait when it comes to the environment, I agree with many of the posts previously posted, we need to do something about it, not just about cleaning up the water, but also educating.
Also putting an extremely docile gorgeous fish like the whale shark in the same sentence with the word “Jaws” is quite funny… no offense, just sayin :). Despite its size, the whale shark does not pose significant danger to humans. Although massive, whale sharks are really docile and sometimes allow divers and snorkelers to hitch a ride. Best thing that could be done for it is to make sure its out of harms way.
I can barely see it through all the trash!
I think we should set a date and time so all of us go and surround the marina crescent and keep an a eye on whoever throws rubbish into the sea gets pushed over and when they climb out of the water gets handcuffed and thrown into the van and wait for the next twat and so on …. Then they all get droped off in the dessert middle of no where only with a tag saying “keep kuwait clean twat”.
lol 😉
i love how dirty our oceans are. it really is a community effort. the only community effort i know of from my people: trashing the environment. bravo, bravo.
omg, how clean it is !!
It’s pathetic that people here litter so much. Also, the lack of compassion towards animals is disgusting to see the least. People throw bottles and garbage at cats and now even a whale shark.
Getting a glimpse of a whale shark is a rare sight- respectfully cherish it!
I remember I was in Dubai once with some emiratis. I mentioned how the streets were so much cleaner than Kuwait and the emiratis don’t throw trash out their windows and he said “of course they are, why would we want to spoil our own country?”
Being Kuwaiti of course this is the most depressing thing in the world to hear
dirty water guysssssss…………
shame!
