Cinema Prices in Kuwait

A redditor put together an Excel sheet comparing the cinema prices in Kuwait including food and drinks. The version above is a simplified version comparing just the three main cinema companies but if you want to check out his more detailed list, click here.

The prices highlighted in green are the lowest for that category while red is for the highest. Overall, Cinescape has the most affordable prices while Vox is the most expensive.

I usually order the largest popcorn and soda, and given the difference in size (both) and especially quality (popcorn) i’d happily shell out the extra 500fils or whatever it is for Vox.

When it comes to seats and screens, Cinescape wins without a doubt. Food and drinks wise, Vox wins obviously. All in all, Vox is catered for a rather more luxurious experience (I guess) with all their food and drinks options. Cinescape catered for the best viewing experience with decent food and drinks (or a budget experience I guess). Personally, Cinescape is my go-to any day WHEN I want to watch a movie that I’m super excited about. I would go to GC or Vox if I want to enhance the experience with high-quality snacks haha.

Cinemas are outdated, why not just watch at home, at least you won’t have to be in a dark room full of strangers 🤢

I also don’t go to restaurants either! Even when I travel abroad, I rarely go to restaurants due to how bad I end up feeling.

The quality of food at VOX is just so much better than the other two. I do like Cinescape for their wide presence though, that makes things convenient

I’ve found Grand Cinemas to have great sound and picture. Popcorn and nachos of decent size and quality there also. Generally, reasonably agreeable attendees, although the problem in Kuwait for some cinemagoers appears to be the lack of understanding that, when the film is on, NO TALKING OR USING THE FLIPPING MOBILE PHONE!

Not as bad as here. The first time we went to the cinema a group of People got their phones out, stuck the spotlights on, and filmed us!

Have you been to the north of England? They have entire phone conversations and in Scotland they shout comments at the film “give the cunt a bloody good shag!”. You people are more than happy to just criticise everything that goes on in Kuwait, I’d love to preform brain scans on people in Kuwait to see what causes this extremely negativity.

I just don’t understand why ppl behave this way. Its a public place and everyone has come to watch the movie, not to hear other people talk to each other. If you just want to talk, then go to a cafe. And to those ppl who hurl insults, shows what kind of a family you come from. Disgusting!!

Am I the only person who sneaks a bag of food to the cinema, I literally sneaks an entire bunch of bananas when watching minions and committed to eating all of them.

Cinemas make more money on the food and drinks than they do on the actual ticket sales, this is a worldwide thing

However I stopped watching movies in Kuwait for a bunch of reasons:

1) Big TVs and soundsystems are much much cheaper than they were in the past. A lot of my friends have these at home now

2) It’s extremely easy to download movies in very high quality. Watching The Matrix in the cinema and then again at home was a totally different experience, these days not as much.

3) CENSORSHIP. I remember seeing multiple movies in the cinema with random cuts that were so bad I didn’t understand the story. Plus they change their mind constantly on what they censor and don’t.

4) It’s incredibly easy to get really good meals delivered to the house instead of paying 3KD for a pepsi and bad hotdog

5) 90% of whatever is in the cinemas these days is a Marvel movie, a remake of an old Disney movie, or a sequel to something I don’t care about. Even going the legal route the selection on something like Netflix + Amazon Video is fantastic, before taking into account stuff like iTunes which has very recent movies too.
