An Episode from Farouq Abdul-Aziz’s Cine Club Show on Kuwait TV from Farouq Abdul-Aziz on Vimeo.
Wow I can’t believe I just found this! Those of you who used to watch KTV back in the day will remember a show that came on once a week called The Cinema Club where a host would first talk a bit about the movie he was going to show and it’s importance, and then play it for us. The host Farouq Abdul-Aziz uploaded one episode of the show on Vimeo and you can watch it above. Sadly the sound quality isn’t that great but the opening sequence still managed to bring back so many memories.

Wow thanks for posting this! Brings back so many memories. Back then KTV was so liberal and up to date.
Btw the show was called Cine Club.
Cine is Cinema in french. In Arabic it’s written as Cinema so English would be Cinema.
woooowh supper old i remember waiting for it every Wednesday back in the day
Used to be a wee late at night, or so I remember. Was worth the wait to see what the movie was.
Now its too fast paced, movies on demand, not much anticipation and you already know the gist of what you see before playing it.
yup the good old days.. I never understood arabic that well in those days and I used to remember saying gawd finish allready I want to see the movie !!
WOWWWWWWWWW…. I used to watch that!!! GREAT show! Kuwait was such a pioneer in every little thing! I still remember Salamat!
Thank you very much 2.48am guys. I do appreciate your contribution and particularly the opening editorial bringing back dearest of my memories.
It is a great surprise for me too!
A good number of Cine Club episodes, in dear VHS format, are kept in a box, large container actually, for so many years I didn’t even bother to check their quality. Busy busy busy man! Over the years, even after I got back to Kuwait’s Sat screen in 2002 for a stint of one year, lot of people have been asking me ‘Where could we find those episodes?…Is there a way we can watch them?
Well…it is about time to grab that old box and see what’s in there, and start doing myself, above all, a favor by posting what’s available on Vimeo, YouTube and my upcoming website Farouq-on-Cinema. It may do good for the nostalgic sentiments and for the film buffs too. I hope.

Thank you guys.
One other thing. The sound quality is going to be fixed and the episode will eventually be re-uploaded to replace this one.

Dear Sir, As a child I used to watch many movies presented by you on Cine Club. I have been searching for you all over the internet for years now. And I am delighted to have found you, from your recent vimeo upload. Sir, I have a humble request. Could you please tell me the music that’s being played at the start of the Cine Club? This music has tormented, entertained and inspired me both in my childhood and adulthood. I would consider it a honour if you could name this music being played at the start of Cine Club. Kind regards, Philby John
PLEASE UPLOAD MORE SHOWS OF CINE CLUB THAT WERE SHOWED IN 80’S CAUSE I MISSED THEM & I WOULD LOVE TO WATCH THEM AGAIN ON INTERNET & IT WOULD BE GREAT PLEASURE !@#$%.
HEY MR. FAROUQ,
I WAS GONNA ASK THAT ARE YOU MARRIED & HOW MANY KIDS DO YOU HAVE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
