Sleepz – Started Off Broke

Sleepz is bringing something new to the Hip Hop scene in Kuwait with his crew KD Makers. He and this group of talented artists are set to do big things. Their main goal is to show the world what living in Kuwait can be like. “Started off broke” is Sleepz love note to Kuwait. It is followed by a little taste of “What Their Missin” a song we will be filming the video for in Dubai. Sleepz and the whole KD Makers crew are out to have fun and help put Kuwait on the Hip Hop map and it shows.

Lol you think that’s steroids? Man gtfo out of your room. But I definitely agree with your other comment..

Seriously, the rap isn’t bad per se, but come on. I’ve seen about 10 music videos from Kuwaiti rappers on this blog and they all sound the same and have the same theme. Money, hoes, cars. These songs don’t engage people at all and have nothing unique to offer.

Though this is “way of living” is a part of Kuwait, it is definitely not the one people should be advocating. My advice for Kuwaiti rappers and musicians is to delve into creating something more novel. Though it’s not as easy as singing about money, hoes and cars, it will definitely reap more benefits.

Most artists that have creative messages to tell through their experience. It just so happens that rappers here have a different experience. Or maybe we would have more saul Williams and the like.

I absolutely love the Kuwaiti rap video ‘movement’ as of late. Talented, creative, and a lot of fun to watch. I share them with all my friends here in America and they also think they’re fantastic.

I wasted 4:57 of my life…

Mark, BRING IT BACK.

I give 1/10.

you want to know why? that lame English accent is very annoying.

When 2pac rap, he raps how he struggles, not what type of car he has.

I think a foreigner teaching English at high school with an accent could have put together rhymes. And that’s assuming the teacher also does not like music, but understands the logic of a pattern, ryhme and a beat … and importantly a story to tell that is sonething people care about or relate to.

Maybe there should be a remix on why people should not do drugs.

I have nothing against talented people, and honestly no idea about rap/hip hop culture, but I believe one can be a talented rapper without all that “gangsta” shit.

I hope hiphop rap( lol that sounds awesome right) never progresses in kuwait were already a pretty corrupt country and on top of that you feed children and teens that hoes, drinks money is just the way it is? Kuwait will turn into a disaster . And about the other form of rap rapping about your stuggles lol ud have to be a saeedi working in 7awlly to achieve that and besides noo one is shooting them up lol . So mark you strike me as an intellegent person so ur either promoting this as a joke or erm nvm just domt promote thisncrap byes

I’m just glad whenever someone else feels positively about Kuwait. If an English expat is telling the world they are missing something, they probably are. Better than moaning about it, write some good music instead.

Long live love free Kuwait
