Al Jazeera World Cup broadcast sabotaged

My dad yesterday had trouble viewing the World Cup opening match so he went down to Hawalli to get some help from one of the Satellite shops and to his amazement the whole area was flooded with cars and people. It seems he wasn’t the only one facing problems, majority of the people were having the exact same issue so everyone headed to Hawalli at the same time to find out what was wrong with their receiver. Turns out the Al Jazeera World Cup broadcast was sabotaged. Someone was blocking the signals and Al Jazeera are pissed and are vowing to catch the culprits behind the jam.

“We do not know yet who is behind the interference, but we will go after whoever has caused this terrible act that has deprived millions in the Arab world from watching the start of the World Cup,” said Nasser Al Khalifi, the chairman of Al Jazeera Sports.

“We are shocked by what happened because the World Cup is not a political programme that someone wants to block. It is a global sports event and we had spent months negotiating with Fifa to enable viewers in the Arab world to enjoy some matches for free. Unfortunately, there are some people who have political motives, but we will go after them,” he said.

I have no idea who the people he’s referring to, I don’t know how anyone can take advantage politically by blocking the World Cup signal. For more information here are three sources [Article 1], [Article 2] and [Article 3]

IF you think thats the end of it..think twice.
With such scandal envolving the WC 2022 there are several technicians that dislike corruption envolving the king of sports..so in the summer of 2022 several tx antennas will be pointed to diferent satelites to uplink clean carriers on the transponders or even modulated to cut off any transmissions of the games in these country so mr Blatter you have been warned, but by then you will be dead of old age….
I can promisse you that no games will go on air trough satelites or fiber optics..the plan has been arranged.

Where did you read that? Nile Sat are denying blocking the signal in the links I posted.

If anything someone should block the sound of the vuvuzela!

@Mark: Its funny how you can tell from the get go what’s going to ruin something…the vuvuzela hands down is going to completely hamper the quality of this World Cup. I hope its exclusive to South African games.

I didn’t mind them before but I never heard them this loud or this non-stop before. They weren’t blowing them at certain occasions, they were blowing them non stop through the whole match. You couldn’t hear the cheering or crowd sound effects.

Ramez it seems that you are going around spreading this info because you said the exact same thing on the topic i created on the forum and i told you “OPENING CEREMONY AND OPENING GAME WERE BOTH BROADCASTED ON EGYPTIAN LOCAL TV ON ALL CHANNELS”
so please dont go around spreading false info that you heard from god knows who and come to think about it why would they do that, that would give a bad name to the nilesat not el jezira because the signal is weak or whatever so they would actually be harming themselves.

Ours went off JUST after the opening five minutes yesterday ( AL Jazeera). Today the arabic commentary working ok but the English channel has gone off which is pretty bad considering England are about to beat the shit out of the US tonight.

Use the image i posted above to tune into jazeera on one of the other satellites. that way if something goes wrong u tune into another satellite

Did anyone watch argantina match in aljazeera HD ?

for the rest try this frequency in arabsat :

12341/h/27500

it works perfect .. but without that nice picture quality that was on nilesat .

anyone can watch any JSC sport broadcasting world cup today as I can not ,all channels goes off either on nilesat, arabsat or hotbird
this will be against nilesat conspiracy idea

Ramez I watched the opening game on “NILE SPORT” which is an egyptian local channel thats what im arguing about here u said that nile sat alegedly did that because al jazeera didnt give them the broadcasting rights and thats where u r wrong egyptian tv bought 22 matches to broadcast on local tv, in addition to this can you explain why did al jazera relocate and change their frequenacy and stayed on nilesat if nilesat did that then why didnt al jazeera said the hell with them and moved to another sat and also i just watched argentina vs nigeris on al jazeera HD and it was working fine.

Blocking specific channels? interesting… I know how to block all signals from satellite, but not only one. Interesting.

My understanding of this drama is this:

Aljazeera sold the rights to broadcast some of the games locally on air to Egypt Government TV since most people can’t afford the Jazeera package.

Egypt TV paid a good sum for the deal and they were going to cover their costs with local ad revenue. They weren’t looking to make much money, just cover the costs.

About a week later Aljazeea announced they were going to air the same games (22 of them or so) for free anyway, thus “screwing” the Egyptians out of their ad money since people can watch the same games on Aljazeera for free too.

The Egyptians, understandably, got extremely pissed at the raw deal they got from Aljazeera, hence the alleged sabotage at Nilesat which Egypt controls.

And that’s the gist of it from my vantage point.

No. If they were then jazeera wouldn’t be trying to find out who did this and stop them. Also egypt controls nilesat but this issue is happening with hotbird as well.

Regarding what Nobu said, I doubt its true.. why would al jazeera broadcast all games for free? they didn’t just screw egypt that way, they screwed all of us who paid to get those games. From what I heard aljazeera was going to broadcast only one game for free, which is the first one. only.

And just for the record… it will be impossible to find out who messed up with the broadcast… it can be anyone sitting on the rooftop of his home. he doesn’t need internet access or computer… so no way in hell to track him.

while i do condone all criminal acts, i think aljazeera deserve what they get for their greed, but i pity football fans :p

Who ever is behind this, he is really playing it very well 🙂

”h channel has gone off which is pretty bad considering England are about to beat the shit out of the US tonight.”

re my earlier statement- perhaps not………….

BS!!! There is no such thing as sat signal sabotage!

The simple explanation is that the geniuses at Jazeerah thought it would still be ok to jam 10 extra channels and new HD and 3D channel that need multiples of the regular bandwidth into their already over-stuffed feed. Simple Greed.

So the same geniuses figured “Oh shit we’ll have a mob attaching our HQ now demanding their money” then they had another genius idea inspired by their conspiracy-loving politics news-desk and that is to blame it on someone and Israel had enough beating last week so it was the Egyptians.

lol. i had gone to a shisha place with friends to watch the match,
i thought that their service was fuked 😛

but later one of the workers, who knew the settings fixed the problem.

Ramez do you live in egypt, do you have egyptian local tv ?? because it seems like you hear random stuff and just say them here ! this match wasnt even broadcasted on egyptian tv they didnt even buy this game ! i watched the game on al jazeera HD and nothing happened it was ok.

death to vuvuzela!
that darn sound is so friggin irritating… i have nothing against people expressing themselves through their cultural gizmos.. but this is draining the tv fan experience out totally.. you can hardly hear the roar of the fans or the signs of a near miss… ..you hardly even heard the normally loud english football chants.. all you hear is that horribly loud hum.. the hackers need to figure out a way to filter out that sound instead of spoiling the signals!

7sen why r u attacking me this way ? I said the Land TVs ,,, not the satellite ones and the land TVs are not broadcasting the same shit .. channel one and channel 2
Thats my JOB

guys guys it’s very simple.. the system at Al-Jazeera is over flow, which mean too many people are watch at the same time with probably less broadcast capability. so it went and over flow, what happens in over flow is the system gets Halted just like in old windows 98.. they should be fixing the problem by today, but i totally agree that they should have made tests and upgraded their systems. probably the over flow came from Egypt which is why they cut off the connection from local Tv stations. Al-Jazeera probably made the tests with out considering the broadcast that will be made from Egyptian tv station.. that’s what probably happened, and maybe the egyptians got so pissed they made it over flow which lead to jamming in a legal way

They should have stipulated a no compete clause in their contract. You would though they would have covered their bases. In a contract world in God we trust all others must pay cash.

LOL! Its hilarious how people go all nuts because of a soccer game. You can throw all the rotten tomatoes you want at me but it still won’t change the fact that its funny. I mean they went down all the way instead of watching it online. 😀

Running into issues again with the Brasil game. With these recurring outages, it’s got to be supply and demand. Jazeera just can’t handle it.
And they charge for this crap!
