Plan to ban wild animals

The Interior Ministry in cooperation with the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) is said to be looking for ‘pet’ wild animals which put at risk the lives of citizens and residents, reports Al- Anba daily. The authorities have called on residents and citizens to notify them if they are aware of any wild animals in their vicinity. The daily added, the authorities plan to confiscate wild (pet) animals and punish their keepers.

This is done in the best interests and safety of the people. The sources added the Kuwaiti Penal Code punishes those who neglect animals and the civil law punishes the owner by forcing him to compensate the victim if attacked by the wild animal.

The source pointed the concerned authorities have received several complaints accusing people of breeding wild animals such as tigers, lions and crocodiles. Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti man shot dead a crocodile with a bullet to his head after the reptile crept into his house recently in Salwa, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to reports the man was at work and his maid called him to say she could not enter the house because a big lizard was in the doorway. The man rushed home and found the ‘pet’ crocodile which had reportedly escaped from its keep from a neighboring house. [Source]

I just hope they don’t try & put them in the zoo here, that would be even worse. Such a shame that the Born Free Foundation can’t help relocate them to a game reserve or something where they can live out their life happily in conditions that are as close to their natural habitat as possible.

They really need to stop them bringing them in here in the first place.

Problem with the source is the limited information they provide.

If I have a “wild” pet (as they phrase it), or actually a few of them. Had them for years in a well kept enclosure and actually had them reproduce. Vets take care of them regularly and the pets are well fed…. Like hell they’ll take them !!!!

If an idiot has a “lion cub” in his car, or a cheetah, driving around trying to make for his missing manhood ….. Definitely take the pet away.

Bloody news papers are half the time useless and the other half less informative.

Every paper in kuwait is owned by a family or collection of families, none of them are really interested in objective reporting

It’s a step in the right direction HOWEVER!! There will need to be a way to turn in the animals else they will be dumped in the desert or just let loose in the streets. Then the idiot dog hunters will be thinking they are big game hunters driving around and just shooting at what moves. Nothing new there In Adan in the last 2 weeks I saw tracer bullets being shot into the sky at night. So many idiots and such a small place to contain them. I can’t wait for my next vacation!

personally I think all animals should be confiscated and put in the zoo, but only to showoffs like those who take their animals to “ygezon”
like the girls would like him because of that animal lol ..
girls: OMG the animal is sooo seexy lets go with the ugly owner !!

I just hope they don’t kill the animals.

I also don’t believe that Kuwait Zoo could handle them – especially since they would have to be “re-introduced” to their own species, having been raised by humans and are not accustomed to being around animals. They should be sent to wildlife rehabilitation centers.

Any way you look at it, it is sad. The first step should be banning (and enforcing) their import to Kuwait.
