Wataniya Airways Coming Back

wataniya

Failed Kuwaiti carrier Wataniya Airways is reportedly planning a comeback as soon as the first quarter of 2015. The airline has begun efforts to re-launch by attempting to raise KD24m ($85m) and lease an initial two planes, according to Kuwait Times.

The company has asked the Ministry of Commerce to publish the minutes of an extraordinary assembly meeting held this week and will then contact the Capital Markets Authority so it can prepare for a new initial public offering (IPO). The airline needs a minimum of KD11m in capital to re-launch operations, a company source was quoted as saying. [Source]

Looks like Wataniya Airways is finally coming back to life. I wonder if they’ll fly out from Sheikh Saad Terminal along with FlyDubai or if they’ll be joining the rest of the airlines at the main terminal?

Will they pay their employees who didn’t even get salaries? Will those thieves refund the passengers who had tickets?

They should start a bus service from main airport to the new terminal, this is the main reason why it was closed last time.

They should, at least other carriers should be flying out of Sheikh Saad Terminal in order to sustain it, and hey, they can share the costs. I even thought Emirates should move over because it is also a UAE carrier and should be treated better than the current airport. FLYDUBAI has limited flights and to dedicate an entire terminal to one carrier like this does not seem logical. With the present condition of the main airport, Kuwait should be looking at other options like this. The private planes can be moved and more runway space can be allocated for increased flights. I liked Wataniya and wouldn’t hesitate to fly them again, but only if they fly out of Sheikh Saad Terminal. Sorry guys! I am using FLY DUBAI now to exit Kuwait, then I connect to an international flight totally bi-passing the main terminal which I deem a nightmare. I wonder if other people are doing that now? Hmmmmm?

Unfortunately the terminal is not designed for the large aircraft that Emirates flies. It can only support single aisle, smaller aircraft.

Even if you could clear out all the GA airplanes, there isn’t enough physical room in the terminal to host the passengers that will have to embark and disembark Emirates smallest airplane, the A330.

I prefer Emirates due to their dedicated terminal at Dubai.

Now that Jazeera and Flydubai are using Al Maktoum International, it is no longer that appealing.

@aaa FLYDUBAI has upgraded Terminal 2 and it looks nice, so maybe you haven’t flown them lately? @Burhan That’s ashame, because Emirates needs to be treated better than that airport. I remember when the rumor came out that FLYDUBAI was taking SST, and I spoke to angry Emirates employees at the main terminal who were hoping they would move over. I usually spend a day or so in Dubai in between flights then take my international flights with Emirates out of Terminal 3. You can transfer from Terminal 2, but I haven’t tried that yet. Interestingly, nobody really gets off at the second stop? FLYDUBAI only running some flights out of Terminal 4 which is near the Abu Dhabi border, really far, so I will avoid that terminal also. Jazeera Airways needs a face-lift, so not sure who is flying that carrier now, but the last time I flew it, it was really rundown, full of Bedouin passengers who didn’t understand seat assignments like they have never flown before. FLYDUBAI is not a discount carrier though, by the time I pay for everything I spent more than Emirates so I guess I would recommend staying on Emirates.

Last time I used it was December 2013. Terrible, unless it has changed in the last 6 months or so. To me it is worth it to pay the difference to avoid them.

It’s been upgraded since and looks better, though still simple compared to the big flashy main terminals

And you can’t beat landing, immigration, exit in under 10 minutes! Under 5 if you have E-Gate

Wataniya airlines was not, failure. I believe it was established to acquire Kuwait Airways or,part,of,it.

What is this about Can anyone explain how these special gates will work? Are these gates open? Where are they located in the main airport? In that addition they built which resulted in wasted space? Boodai added: “We’re excited to share with our customers that by June 1 flying with Jazeera Airways will be a streamlined experience from check-in to boarding to flight. With our new exclusive gates at Kuwait Airport, our customers will no longer be exposed to the airport’s gates’ congestion during peak times. This investment will significantly bolster our product offering.”

We are getting to the end of the “first quarter of 2015” but still nothing from Wataniya Airways….
