Brunch at The Cheesecake Factory

I passed by The Cheesecake Factory at The Avenues this morning for breakfast. Every Saturday morning from 10AM to 2PM they have a special brunch menu and I was curious to try their pancakes since I had heard they were really good. I ended up ordering two dishes for myself, the Monte Cristo Sandwich and the Buttermilk Pancakes. What is the Monte Cristo? This is the description from their website:

Monte Cristo Sandwich
Crunchy French Toast Stuffed with Bacon, Grilled Ham, Scrambled Eggs and Melted Swiss Cheese Dusted with Powdered Sugar and Served with Strawberry Preserves.

The Monte Cristo was ridiculously good, probably my favorite breakfast dish right now. Their pancakes now are also easily my favorite pancakes in Kuwait. They were really fluffy and light and I had to stop myself from finishing them. Which brings me to a very important problem with this breakfast.

THE CALORIES!

If you’re a calorie counter you’re in for a treat. The Monte Cristo Sandwich is a whopping 1,618 calories while the Buttermilk Pancakes are 1,310 calories. Try to figure out a way to burn those.

Service was so so. Took me a few tries to explain to the waiter I wanted pancakes and even when I pointed at it in the menu he thought I was pointing at another dish. I also told him to bring all the food together but my Monte Cristo came first. Not major issues but still worth noting. The pancakes cost KD3 while the Monte Cristo I think was KD4.250. I highly recommend both dishes and it’s too bad they only serve them on Saturdays. Oh and of course I wish they were both just 500 calories combined instead of being nearly 3,000…

The Cheesecake factory in Kuwait is not the same as in the US. Not same quality and the prices are exaggerated. Typical Alshaya management… P.F. Chang now is down the drain with their defrosted meats. ewww.

While many of my friends and relatives agree with you… I was one of the people who enjoyed their dynamite shrimp, chicken and beef. Unfortunately the shrimp is substandard now, and the meats are not edible anymore. Funny how the restaurant managers are aware of this degradation in quality and in two recent visit to both of their branches I have been told that they are aware of this reduction in quality which is due to their new methods of cooking. oh well…

You will never read/hear a positive comment for this restaurant in Kuwait

Service: 0
Quality of Food: 0
English: 0
Quality of Service & Assurance: 0

something really wrong!

Will pass by and try it once I read a single positive comment/tweet/post about it

Well my recommendation would be to try their avocado egg rolls (delicious) and for main course the Cajun chicken strips. Their complimentary brown bread with butter is also the best ever, like I’d go just for their brown bread.

The service is of average standard in comparison to other restaurants.

Food portions are huge. Quality and flavor wont give them much points.

Their english is OK, but I’m never going back agin. lol

I have tried most of their popular stuff from regular menu and none of them matched up to my expectation. I would not return but I have heard Monte Cristo Sandwich is GOOD from 10 people at least so there is hope.

Their cheese cakes dont taste like socks. but try Sara Lee Cheese Cake or KFC cheese cake. I’m willing to bet you’ll favor them over the one at Chase cake factory!

I’m showing my disappointment here because I am a big fan of Cheese Cake Factory and P. F. Chang. I sure hope they get back to standard!

I tried Cheesecake Factory in the states more than 20 times and tried the one in kuwait the quality is much better in kuwait. The food taste is different but it’s still tasty. Also the service was great!!

Had a bad experience with that Saturday breakfast, and haven’t been since but that’s not why I’m commenting. Amidst the many complaints that Saturday, finally one of the managers “graciously” came round our table to see what the problem was. And during my talk i said “…i love the CF food despite the incredible amount on calories in your dishes”, to which he cut me off and said “our dishes are not high in calories”! lol, i was like hoook-aaayy…brain washed much šŸ˜‰

Why can’t Kuwait get a handle on their labour force? Is it to do with the fact that the trainers are from the US and are not exposed to this type of labour force? The labour force would be the same in Kuwait, well not so brain dead and more apt to smile more, but after this length of time they should have been able to build a suitable server/hostess workforce? Get yourself together Kuwait, this is a major successful chain in the U.S and not having servers with English skills hurts your business or that doesn’t understand the menu? Wow!

Because a decent tri-lingual waiter (English, Arabic, their native language) would never work for the pathetic wages we pay waiters in Kuwait unless they were desperate? You want decent waiters you pay decent wages, also nobody tips

Are you saying that the waiters in CF in Dubai are paid more? Do they get a minimum wage? Can a % be added to the check for tips for the waiters which is illegal in Dubai? Wouldn’t it be up to Al-Shaya who runs the same companies in multiple GCC countries to change this phenomenon to increase his bottom line? Happy customer is a happy customer anywhere you go. I think employees should get a hardship bonus pay in Kuwait for working here – across the board.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Kuwait has no clue about labor to begin with!! The people running the Ministries, Kuwaitis, think a 20 hour work week is excessive for them, but have no problems with a 90 to 110 hour work week for service industry expats. Top that off with a payscale that should be embarrassing for such a rich country and, as you say, you get what you pay for. Pay in peanuts, get monkeys.

Haha people go in expecting the food to taste like Angels lovingly prepared it just for them and that it will taste just as heavenly. The stuff there is good. I only went during the friends and family event(soft opening) so the service was alright considering they were slammed like crazy.

OMFG!! WHAT IS WITH THE DAMN CALORIES HOLY! yes all of there dishes calories are so much! BUT 3000!!!! i have a calorie instake of 1200 for one day! ha ha ha
cross that off my list – forever

man to start with, their cheesecake is over rated! the american woman in charge that was their treat people like she knows everything :S and we are the Arab ignorant.. at least that was my first impression. Cheese Cake factory hmmm went twice and twice got my main dish wrong! quality of food too oily too fatty and damn too over rated, they have a nice decoration and that’s it!
