I flew Etihad Airways to Geneva via Abu Dhabi and honestly I was kinda disappointed, mostly with their airport. For some reason I had the impression that the Abu Dhabi airport was going to be huge but it wasn’t. There were a bunch of high end boutiques like Hermes and Rolex plus a decent amount of restaurants but the problem is they’re all squeezed into a very small place. The business class lounge was also pretty small with low ceilings and it filled up pretty quickly with barely any room to sit. Food was good plus they have a spa but there wasn’t much space in the lounge to chill out.
The flight from Abu Dhabi to Geneva was pretty comfortable but that’s because I hadn’t slept and it was already 9AM by then. The Etihad business class is slightly claustrophobic since it looks like it’s divided into cubicles but unlike British Airways for example, the space didn’t feel bright or big. But, my seat folded into a flatbed which is all I cared for. Service was also friendly and the bathroom had a window (I love that).

I have great difficulty accepting a negative comment from a resident of Kuwait on neighboring GCC airports because I consider KIA as one of the WORST airports in the world. With some very minor adjustments to the current situation at KIA would improve the movement of this airport substantially and most of my suggestions are basic. So I credit the mismanagement of KIA as one of the most critical topics facing Kuwait today considering that KIA is the gateway to this nation. I understand that Abu Dhabi who is about to unveil a huge tourist campaign to celebrate Ethiad’s aniversary in Times Sqare NYC to introduce the US market to this great city. It is a brilliant marketing campaign!! A huge tent with Arabic coffee and Emiriti hospitality will be unveiled to the public. There may be shortfalls in the airline, but compared to a shattered and rundown Kuwait Airways, the UAE carriers command great respect in the market. This summer they should increase flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi so that the Kuwait public can utilize them as their hubs. Hope the aged navigation systems continue to work at KIA!
Lol obviously I wasn’t comparing it to the Kuwait Airport
the new Kuwait airport terminal would blow the rest
That’s IF they ever break ground. AND if they do, I challenge Mark to photograph it for us so we understand that this government has done something for this nation. The airport project is the MOST important project in Kuwait and will determine how you will be viewed in the GCC and by visitors. They voted down the development program the other day and this project is part of it and then went into ‘grilling’ mode. I would question my leaders.
Mark, the camera your using could make a prison cell look cozy
LOL +1
Hey MM, you are right in saying that KIA is pretty sh** too.. but just wait for the new KIA to come out.. it will be amazin.. the ‘Gateway to Kuwait’ will look absolutely fantastic.. whenevr its constructed..
P.S – i also agree on Kuwait Airways <<<<< Etihad.. hopefully we can change that soon too.. not holdin my breath on that one though..
loll
Bottom line is… the best thing about flying Etihad is the fact that they have a window in their washrooms LOL I agree with you regarding the airport.
Strange comments as I think Abu Dhabi airport is really nice and Etihad Business Class is one of the best of any airline I have travelled.
Abu Dhabi is the 2nd worst airport in the Gulf. Second to……Kuwait!
you obviously haven’t seen Riyadh’s airport
Whatever you do avoid Emirates airlines like the plague, unless you are planning on buying their silly expensive business or first class. Cabine crew really good, but god be with you if you ever have to deal with ground staff or even worse customer care……….or should i say customer un-care
