I have both MyUS and Shop&Ship accounts but I tend to use my Shop&Ship the most since the prices were always cheaper than MyUS. MyUS only used to make sense for me when an item was expensive but not that heavy since I don’t pay tax when shipping to my MyUS address. But, a few days ago I was ordering some parts for my car and I realized it would be much cheaper shipping to MyUS.
Item Cost Shipped to MyUS: $256
Item Cost Shipped to Shop&Ship: $278.71 (includes 8.87% tax)
Item Weight: 10.95 lb
MyUS Shipping Cost (using DHL Express): KD14.278
Shop&Ship Shipping Cost: KD22.3 (because I get the 31% S&S FLEX discount) or KD31.1 (if you don’t have S&S FLEX)
So just by choosing to ship this one item to MyUS I saved a total of KD15. Even if I paid tax it would still be cheaper to use MyUS. It wasn’t like this before so now I’m curious to know if their prices became cheaper. I think I’m just going to straight up use MyUS from now on. The package also arrived super quick, shipped April 3, got delivered to me April 6. Oh I have to mention, Shop&Ship charge KD1.5 for custom clearance, DHL charge KD4. But I still save more with DHL.

I haven’t used MyUS for a very long time probably since Covid as I ran into some customer service issues that left a bad taste in my mouth. So I switched to FishisFast and never really looked back. They ship out of Delaware so also no sales tax like MyUS so I’m definitely not losing out there.
MyBox does not charge anything for custom clearance. It’s always itemized as KD1.5, but never charged.

What do you mean? Your shipment has been in your mailbox since March 25? The choosing carrier is just that. I have the free MyUS account so my shipments get marked to ship automatically so I have to pick my default carrier in the account. I have it set as DHL Express so any package that arrives ships with that. If you have the paid version which allows u to consolidate, u can pick which courier you want before telling it to ship.
Recently my experience with Shop & Ship has been really bad.
There has been a discrepancy between the initial quote they gave, what they billed, and what they finally collected for an item shipped from US.
The initial quote was 7kd
When I went to pay – they billed by 8.3kd (paid this through knet)
On top of that they took an additional 1.5kd in cash (for customs) when delivering.
I asked them why are they not transparent from the start – they just said that pay up and take the parcel if you want, or else we will take it back.
Will try MyUS next time. DHL has been better than FedEx and Aramex when shipping stuff into Kuwait.

You pay an initial shipping cost. Then once it arrives to kuwait and goes through customs you pay the custom clearance fee along with any customs fee if there are any.
I think some couriers do have the option to pay all upfront since when Amazon ships it includes everything, but Amazon also charge u more upfront and then refund the customs difference if it turned out to be less.
Also just to clarify with DHL since you mentioned u will use them next time.
I paid for shipping on MyUS, then a day later I got an email from DHL asking me to pay an additional 4KD custom clearance. Because item value was under 100KD I didn’t have to pay customs or else I would have to pay 4KD + 5% value of item.
Does this apply to electronics as well? Back in 2022, I got a 512gb steam deck I won in an eBay bidding war and they ended up charging me $122 overall. I plan on ordering a spec’ed out Mac mini soon so I thought I’d ask if things have changed.

I had been using PostShipper for the past 6 years. I had a terrible experience last time, which lead me to stop using them. First of all, they split the packages to two, because a remote control (USB charged) couldn’t be placed with a small nail glue.
Which is fine. But when it got here, I had to get permits for medicine (advil, tylenol) from the ministry of health (MOH); a permit for the nose strips from MOH also; permit for the glue from the Environmental agency; and get this, a permit from CAIT for the 3 usb-c cables (which they did for me).
That was all fine, then when delivery time came, they asked for 60KD. It turns out, that because of the small nail glue, had to put it in a special room.
I don’t know what happened there, first time this happened. PostShipper said they did their job, DHL said because of the codes PostShipper used, that caused all of this.
Anyway, will be giving MyUS a try.
I wish it wasnt. But myUS has the cheapest shipping rates by a mile speically if you use DHL with the credit cards two years membership offer which gets you an extra 20% off on top. Ive been using them for 3 or so years and they are way ahead in terms of shipping rates ven before aramex bought them.
Their biggest problem is the absurd fees that get tacked here and there. Also the free tier is not worth it since no consolidation. And you need to pay 10$ tonchange to it or from it(this one here is the shittiest practice).
But compared to fishisfast which is the absolute number one imo in everything except shipping rates (though still probably better than any other ones that are not myUS).
Fishisfast is 100% free membership no BS. And they give you 6 freaking months free storage (myUS is 1 month which is atandard but becoming behind times.) Fishisfast also dont charge anything if your suite/address was not written by the seller(myUS will charge you 9$ for sth many times is out of your hand). Their chat never not responded in less than an hour and its available directly in the website. The photo of outside box and dimensions is always available(inside photo same as myUS is accesible after shipment is ready).
myUS duties and taxes calculator is dumb and should never be trusted. Also you can not pre pay it withDHL it forces much more expensive options.
myUS extras cost more except the extra padding i guess sonce its whole shipment as opposed to one package.
myUS has high dangerous goods fees 8% of the perfume price if its a perfume or 30$ minimum whichever is higher. And 8$ if there is a device with lithium battery.
I also trust fishisfast more with carefully handling and repackaging my stuff. Though they may tend to tightly pack since they price based on dimensional weight and want to save your money.
Fishsisfast site is better when you learn it imo. Also they offer free removal of receipts,shoe b or bulky boxes. And they respect your input as you are writing whats the item and its price for customs.
myUS is hit and miss,if a problem occurs expect months of nagging them to resolve it if ever. but they got three major things going for them,their cheap shipping rate with always available promos reducing them further.they weight packages based on when received not after its repacked,i use for my benifit since its pure weight based rate and you can choose to ship all dozens of separate boxes as is in one big box for no extra cost. Some extras are good value like whole shipments padding.
Sometimes i just use fishisfast as free storage then ship all the stuff there to myUS months later to.save on shipping its flat rates between states.
