Review: Hard Candy

Hard Candy Review

Hard Candy was one of the movies I was looking forward to watch this year but sadly it disappointed me. Going into the movie I really didn’t know what it was about. All I knew was what I got from the trailer and that is a young girl meets an old guy over the Internet and then they meet up and things go wrong. Based on what I knew and what I was expecting, fifteen minutes into the movie and the whole thing takes a surprising 180 degree turn which was probably the coolest part in the movie. After that things just dragged for me.

One thing I have to say, the movie is visually stunning. The colors and styling in the house where most of the story takes place is really cool. The movie on the other-hand I felt was too long although the ending was very short. The movie finished and I was still trying to figure out what had happened and making sure I understood things correctly. Anyway I really can’t say much about the movie because I wouldn’t want to ruin any surprises. I am also going to advise you NOT to read the plot summary or ask questions about the movie and just watch it knowing very little. That way you will be in for a nice shock. For me the movie didn’t live up to my expectations and thats why I am giving it a 3.5 out of 5.

Im dieing to watch it :/ ive seen the trailer and i guessed what was going to happen, i hope im wrong cuz i love getting surprised by movies esp since t doesnt happen often. Im such a movie predictor it annoys me :/

Totally random thought:

I just realized I met you Thursday night and didn’t even make the link that you are THIS Mark… how slow of me.. I mean I’ve been reading your work since last year… (ok now I sound like a stalker)

anyways, pleasure was mine and send my regards 🙂

i wouldnt call myself a good predictor but i can tell you that what i understood from the trailer, turned out to be very different from how the movie turned out.

Salam..
I want to ask u somethin , i do like films but more i like Art films u see all we get is the commercial films mostly american..& wut i like to get is another VIEW of different places in the big world ! & looking especially documentaries did u see ( Born into Brothels)??it remind me of my only fav. indian film ( Salam Bomby) anyway …if u got any InfOs about the best sites to get this kind of films>>>& stores ( like in London ) to buy ??Thank u ..

I didnt like born into brothels because of the fact it was very documentary like. I dont mind foreign movies and if you check the reviews section you should find a couple i have reviewed. I dont know of any site that specializes in foreign movies, you could try amazon.com foreign section, they might have a top 25 list there or something.
