While flipping through the photos I brought back home from KOC I found these three which I loved because of the fact they look nothing like Kuwait. The first one on top I’m guessing is from the Anglo American School, the second photo is of a house in Ahmadi while the last photo from the Gazelle Club.
Photos courtesy of the KOC Information Team.

It looked very “colonial”.
Amazing pictures. I wish the complete KOC picture archive can be available online 🙁
just a shame we cannot have a link to a bigger image :/
Houses in Ahmadi are still like that
not really, i mean the same houses are still there, they just don’t look anything like the photo anymore.
Yes Mark, kuwait looks really different in these pictures.
These pictures were probably from the British working on the oil, what kind of pictures were u expecting? Lol
But thanks for sharing!
I went to that school! Brilliant memories. Can’t wait for you to post more. Born in Ahmadi and lived there from 1963 to 1977. If you have any photos of the Hubara Club, the Nursery Gardens and 42/4th Street or 9/11th Street – I think thats what they were called. Also the souk in Ahmadi with the Kyam Staores? My father worked in the KOC Main Office for nearly 25 years 🙂
Hi , I went to this school too but much before you as I was finished it in 1960 to leave it to continue boarding schooling in my home country . I loved growing up in Ahmadi , still remember my house on the 16 th avenue … and the school bus coming to pick me up daily …. Beautiful childhood 😊
Somehow I remembered TV series Lost when I saw these pictures!
Yup. Same here….
Saw this article & thought of you.

Kuwait’s been in cultural decline since around 2005 I’d say. 🙁
