Rent bicycles at Marina Waves

bikerental

Extreme Sports have a bike rental station outside their skateboard park in Marina Waves (the area next to Marina Crescent). They’re renting bikes at KD3 an hour which depending on how fast you ride is enough time to go to Kuwait Towers and back. The bikes they’re renting are pretty decent Trek bikes and since they’re the Trek dealers the bikes are most likely being well taken care of. They’re open daily from 3PM to 11PM except on Fridays when they open from 6AM to 11AM and then again from 3PM to 11PM.

Update: Had a horrible experience with them. Rented a bicycle for a friend, put it on my bike rack and headed to Corniche. Once we got to Corniche turns out the bike gears were not working so headed back to the rental place and told them. They were like it’s fine. I was like no its not the gears won’t change. He was like you should have checked before you took the bike. Long story short they refused to give us a new bike and refused to refund us the money.

how much those bikes cost if you want to buy one? 3kd per hour and lets say that you do rent it 8 times a month.which will make 24kd per month.in this case, you can buy your own bicycle if you pay 3-4 months worth rent cost.is this what you call reasonable?

well the bikes probably cost KD150, so if you’re going to ride the bike 8 times a month for 6 months then obviously you might as well buy it. but if you dont have a bike and just want to ride along with a few friends every now and then, paying KD3 is a lot cheaper than paying KD150.

well simply pay 150kd and buy it and ride it when you feel like riding it.when you do not feel like riding it, keep it in the basement and if you decide to quit totally one day, you can either give it away to a relatives kid or sell for 75kd.still you will be in the benefitting side.this is what i think for sure.i agree with you if you will ride it only a few times in a year tho.

Well if I understood you correctly, you would rather buy a bike for KD150, ride it once and then sell it for KD75 just so you don’t pay KD3 to rent one for one hour. That doesn’t make any sense.

I have a friend who is in Kuwait just for the summer, why should they buy a bike for KD150 and barely use it when they can just rent one for KD3 whenever they want.

Don’t get me wrong I am pro owning a bike, I have one. but not everyone wants to ride all the time and not everyone has the space to store the bike or even wants to pay KD150 for one.

nope.you got me wrong i guess.i said, i do agree with you.if someone will ride the bike only a few times in a year, then of course it is better paying 3kd per hour.like your friend who will be in here for just a month for example.

but other than that.if you have space to store it and you think that you would really enjoy riding a bike in long term, it is better buying one.

after all, 3kd is enough money to fill petrol tank of a car.or i can give more examples.you pay only 3kd to go into the aquarium in scientific center and nobody bothers you even if you spend 5 hours inside.it is such a lovely place.you can go and visit remal sand sculpting festival in mishref and spend whole day inside that place by paying only 3kd.you can go to the cinema and watch a movie for two hours which will cost only 2kd.considering all those things, i just wanted to mention that 3kd is not that reasonable price.

dont you think so? think that way man.for 24 hours, you shall pay 72kd for that bike.ride it or not.when you rent a car on a daily basis, lets say you rent a camry, you would pay only 15kd per day.this is what i am talking about.

i totally agree with you, its not a decent price. back home we have public bike rental and all what u pay is equivalent of 1 KD once per season (march till november). bike stations are in various places of the city. u unlock the bike from the dock upon your own pin and you can use it free for 20 min. you can either pin it back to the same dock or to any other in the city and if you wish to continue your travel – unlock another one for another 20 min.

you do not get it @Me.

it is not my money what you spend and i do not argue with anybody.just telling my opinion.
i am not gonna insult you by using the same language with you.

just as i mentioned before,
150kd/3kd=50 hours.
considering that they work 8 hours a day
50/8=6,25 days.i will multiply it with 2 in the name of being fair.because i know that they will not be able to rent all the bikes 8 hours a day.
6,25×2=13.5 days.

There is no job on earth, which can compensate itsself on earth.

you also calculate how many man hours u wasted on this topic making calculation!!
so this way why dont u have a coffee machine at ur home rather going to any coffee shop ?

i have a machine in fact.and i do not care what you do.you can do whatever you want.who am i to stop you.

if you are dumb enough not to understand what i mean, then what is the point of even telling you what i think.after all, i cant make you understand anything more than your capacity allows you to get.

i just think that the price is not so reasonable as Me mentioned.thats it.if you think that it is reasonable, nobody stops you.feel free to go and rent a bike.if you use your logic, i do not think that you would pay 1/50 of a thing to rent it for an hour.in this case, you should pay 100kd to rent a camry for an hour.clear enough?

and your coffee shop example is not even close to the subject.

It’s a pretty good concept and probably first in Kuwait? And jeez people, there are better things to argue about. Will definitely try it when I head back. Cheers for the post, Mark.

Gotta give them credit for doing this, I just wish they had stations across the seaside so you can return the bike at a different location.
